Such a weird year being the first time they can carry this many players into the final week. I don't understand it at all. Seems like a lose lose for teams and players. I think they know who their top 42 maybe 45 players are.
This may seem odd, but I would cut players 65-75 now. They have no hope of making the team. Let players 75-90 play against the Lions taking up the bulk of the snaps with the seconds and thirds. That opens up ten roster spots to make some moves.
I would cut Ducasse, a few DB's, a safety, IR settlement Yates, IR Streeter, trade Ragland, and cut one DE. That is 8 players right there.

Three snaps against the Ravens. What a waste of a second round draft pick and two fourth rounders. Dam you Rex and Whaley
-
I will give McDermott 8 games. But when you preach discipline and then can't even line up correctly or pick up basic blocking schemes, we have a right to doubt him
-
Belichick is more than happy to tolerate Gronkowski's insanity and distractions.
He drafted and played a guy who was convicted for murder. He signed Randy Moss when no one in the league wanted anything to do with him. He signed LaGarrette Blount to his team twice, the 2nd after was suspended and then basically quit on the Steelers.
Belichick as a disciplinarian is a myth. His only measurement of a player is how they perform on the field.
McDermott is following in Dick Jauron's footsteps, not Belichick's.
This is a near perfect analysis.
The way to win is to have the best players. John Madden didn't care what his players did as long as they showed up and performed. Same goes for Belichick.
This is a stupid move by McDermott but also one with minimal downside. You know he wouldn't do the same for a regular season game.
The more I listen to McDermott the less I like of him so far.
But I'm withholding judgement until we see what happens in real games.

That would have tied Russell Wilson for the 13th most in the league.
Ouch, that was a body blow... well done

Hope:
Ducasse looks really bad
Henderson gets reps at RT and looks ok
Ragland gets a series or two with the starting D-line
Miller looks better
Clay and TT hook up for 4 receptions and a TD
Logan Thomas makes a red zone reception
Expect
All of the above, Ducasse is cut and Ragland traded on Sunday for a conditional draft pick
-
I think he presses a bit more this season and they let him run more, and his totals will be affected by their red zone philosophy. He will have less long strike TD passes but hopefully more in the red zone.
26 TD passes, 6 TD runs, 10 picks
Top 10 scoring offense
Top 14 scoring defense
10 wins and in the playoff discussion at least to week 15

then Bortles will be out of football. He is awful and has always been awful.

I won't disagree that Jones would have been gone by round three. I would still take White, Kizer, and the 91st pick over White and Jones. And so far I really like Jones.I don't really see any way Jones fell to the 3rd round. It was reported that Carolina was high on him (among other teams), which is rumored to be why the Bills traded up in front of Carolina in the 2nd to get him.
Every draft projection I seen showed him as a late 1st or 2nd round pick. If you think Kizer should have been the pick over Jones I can understand that. But I don't see any reason to assume Jones would have been there in the 3rd.
-
I wanted Kizer in the second round. I would have taken him over Jones. They probably get Kizer and Jones in the third. Could have found another RT option later.
Still like the trade down and White pick. But when Kizer fell to day 2 they should have taken him.

OL decisions are a black mark on the FO so far. I can understand the Watkins trade and really like moving Darby out.
But the CK and Ducasse decisions are indefensible even if Glenn returns to health
-
We can demo blitz packages and odd formations against the Jets week 1.
-
As for top 10 OL coaches, I'm not sure, but from what I read Tom Cable and Mike Tice are #1 and #2
Is Cowboys OL Coach regarded as good or is it just the talent they have?
Miller is fine. Ducasse sucks and will cost us a 3rd round pick if he is not let go. There is no rational reason why he would make the team. Just about any street FA OG would be as good and not cost them a 3rd in 2018.
-
I'm curious what others think. I have no real opinion on this one. McDermott talked about keeping things basic so he can evaluate players in one on one matchups. I see value in that.
I also see value in experimenting. Try a few blitz packages or odd formations and see how the other team responds.
-
Depends what your expectations are. If you want 35 catches and 5 TD then yes. He had a better chance of producing with Watkins on the outside. But we don't have any idea, what the offense is going to look like. They are not going to show their hand even in the third preseason game.
-
Looks like another draft miss and yet another example of why never to trade up in the draft
-
Glad to see Poyer grade well.
-
I told you so

Tyrod had a better qb rating than Rivers, Big Ben, Russel Wilson, Carr etc. last year.
He's a good NFL qb who averaged 25+ points per game last year with lots of hurt receivers. He's fun to watch and scares other defenses, usually they have to keep a spy in to prevent scrambling which opens up the passing field.
I he had a good defense and kicking game last year we win 10 games.
He's not getting benched if he's healthy unless it's late in the season. Peterman needs a year, not a few months.
MODS just post this response for any further TT threads and shut them down. TT gives them the best chance to win and Rex and Rob cost them and us the playoffs last year.
-
They are building for the future. They will not use al those assets in a single draft. Best case scenario they draft five players and keep making moves in the draft - DOWN. They can get 5 players, and pick up more draft picks in 2019. That is how they build a long term winner. Not by giving away picks to move up only a few spots.
60% chance TT is the QB in 2018.
20% chance it is a FA
20 % chance it is a rookie first round draft pick

Vegas had us at 6 wins with Sammy and Darby. I am thinking those trades adjust the line down at least one.
So yea about 4 or 5 wins seems about right.
Not to mention anyone see the craptastic pass protection Thursday. Taylor is gonna get killed
MAJ, Darby was awful last year. Even Rex benched him at one point though he may have been ill.
Watkins barely played. 28 receptions in 2016. They can find 28 receptions with the new WRs.
Looking at the schedule is pointless. So many things will happen. Look no further than last year - no one predicted the Bills would beat the Cardinals prior to the season (of course I called them beating the Cards after the Jets loss)
I see a much improved defense. I see potential catastrophe at the OT spots. I have been on record that CK should have been the starting LT and it was stupid to cut him.
If Glenn can play then they will have 10 wins - five in the Division alone.
If Glenn goes to IR and TT gets hurt in the first half of the season, then I see fours wins.
-
I don't care if he is telling the truth or lying. Why would anyone care?
"It's what you do that defines you"
It is all speculation and fan board material until the final decisions are made.
-
As has been said by me and others, if it is the Patriots it is a great move. If it is the Bills it is a bad move.
-
As others have pointed out, if they trade Shady then it is full on tank. But no one including the Browns have tanked in the NFL.
Why would you? The NFL draft is a total crap shoot even in the top 5.
Could Ragland be surprise cut of 2017?

A fourth? I'm stunned they got that much for him.
Hope the kid gets a chance to heal and time to develop
