  1. Pardon my french but this is BS... There are proven vets on the market that have to be better than an UDFA who couldn't make two other teams. He has been with the Bills for a week. Of the long list of veterans out there, there is not one who's experience outweighs being perhaps a step slower than some UDFA? This reeks. They have salary cap room to burn that is going to go completely unused except to fill RW's bank account. They have a schedule that looks easier with every long term injury that happens to upcoming opponents. Absolute BS. I was ok with Brandon/Whaley up to this point but this is awful. The Pats lose a corner they bring in Talib and he starts. Bills lose two of their top three and they replace them with training camp rejects. Total bush league. Nothing changes until RW is gone.
  2. I think Chan was right. I'm not sure teams stretch the field vertically as much as in the past and if they do it is with match-up nightmares ie. Gronk on a LB. Of course there are the exceptions like Andre Johnson and Calvin Johnson who can beat any defense. But I think horizontally spreading the defense is the way to go. It gives more lanes for the RB's and allows less skilled WR's to do well if they can take the hits. As posted above if you can get that one long ball strike for a TD or a PI, the rest of the game played probably matters little. Stevie had 39 yards the whole game and can't run by safeties let alone elite corners. Graham is a threat to run by anyone in the NFL. Again as posted above it means nothing if EJ can't deliver an accurate ball.
  3. We won't have cap issues until we have a great QB.
  4. Wow..that many zero's amy actually get a player's attention. Still less than a game check and a suspension but getting closer to actually meaning something.
  5. Go Jets... Any loss by the Pats is good. The division is there for the taking. Our schedule is managable. We need to string together several wins and get some confidence.
  6. That is why he wants a contract and the signing bonus that goes with it. He earned it. The signing bonus is all that matters when the team can cut you if you get hurt. You are simply wrong on so many levels but in a weird way correct. Was Levitre the best LG in the league? No but Tenn paid him as if he was. Someone would make Byrd the highest paid safety in the league. Giving up a first round pick is a completely different arguement. Teams simply value them too much to spend on a safety. But since you can piss away picks on the likes of Aaron Maybin or get a proven player I would make the trade you suggested if I were the Texans. That being said Randy Moss netted a fourth round pick. Nobody knows what teams will offer/take for players.
  7. Ohio State and Alabama stopped Oregon with big fast mobile DE's. There are lots of those in the NFL playing every Sunday. Kelly is smart but he is also confrontational with the media. I think this will hurt him in Philly. Winning allows everything. If you are not winning then one word answers to legitimate questions will not go over well in Philadelphia.
  8. Are you serious? Graham has yet to show he belongs in the NFL and Goodwin was the depth. Everyone's can't miss UDFA with first round talent didn't even make it to the 4th preseason game. Wood looks the part. Stevie is a #2 with bad hands. I would have no problem trading Byrd for a good WR.
  9. 1. Win the turnover battle 2. Rush the QB 3. Protect the QB 4. Stop the run 5. Run the ball 6. Play solid special teams 7. Commit fewer penalties The Bills did several of these better than or equal to the Patriots and that is why the game was close. Rinse and repeat in that order for the next 15 weeks...
  10. Sign Clements. He can play corner or safety. If Byrd is healthy move A. Williams back to corner. Is there a rule about no casts on defenders? I am asking in all seriousness. I am a glorifed wuss when it comes to pain so there is no way I would do it. But couldn't Gilmore play CB with a cast on his wrist? I would take him one handed over most of the guys on the available(scrap heep) list...
  11. The order of blame is well understood... 1. Talley - worst game of a seriously overrated career 2. Wright - Smerlas today probably could have held the point of attack better 3. The rest of the defense not named Brice Smith - as mentioned above, overpursuit and missed tackles by the LB's and secondary 4. Levy - outcoached before and during the game 5. Norwood - he should not have been in that situation. If Thurman touches the ball 6-8 more times the Bills win by 10+ 6. Kelly - Kept throwing in a game where Thurman could have run for 175. I know the playbook said if they keep their LB's in we should throw but it was obvious by the second quarter they were sitting on the crossing routes. The o-line was gashing them and the LB's were playing pass first. Any draw or counter and they were on their heels.
  12. Cincy is a loss, NO is a loss, Chiefs even at home will be tough.. Agree in general that the schedule is there for the taking Steelers and Ravens are shells of their former selves. Playoff spot could hinge on the Chiefs game if they go 4-2 in the division.
  13. Watt took steroids Don't go there sir....This board picks who they hate and there is no turning back. Logic and reason do not work here...
  14. !@#$!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't get the online service to work and Direct Tv's website just crashed !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !@#$!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. Shouldn't we worry about stopping the run??? Couldn't stop Washington. KW, Dareus, and Kiko will decide the outcome of this game.
  16. Somehow I think if EJ had been drafted by the Jets and Geno by the Bills this thread would basically be reversed. Neither QB has played even a full game. Neither has looked good against another team's starters. EJ has had one good drive against second stringers, and one decent half against guys who aren't in the league right now. I too hope against all odds EJ is the one...
  17. He proved in Denver he could be awful for three and half quarters, let the defense keep them in the game, and then have one or two good drives. I will not dimiss his drive and energy. Have no issues there. His throw in OT to beat Pittsburgh was perfect. So was Fitz's throw that Stevie dropped that would have beat Pittsburgh in OT. I'm kind of shocked a team like Seattle or San Francisco doesn't bring him in. If either starter was hurt they woudl not have to change the entire offense for him to play. New England, Indy, and Atlanta with classic drop back QB's seem the least liekly places he would succeed. Have no idea what the Belichick was thinking but his FO moves ahve been horrible for 3-4 years now.
  18. Yes he does suck that bad. The jesus crap only makes it worse. The fact he is gay and doesn't come out of the closet is annoying. Perhaps his only redeeming quality is his self awareness that he can't play any position other QB. He is not tall enough or fast enough or big enough to play anything else. He was a great college football player. He can be a hero for other gay players if he admits he is gay. Until then he is an out of work jesus freak who's peak in life occurred at age 22. He has achieved great things in life already. I just hope he can live without the crowds and the adulation. I think he will hit rock bottom in 2 years when he is caught in a park late at night.
  19. HAve to call BS on this. Ok to rip the guy because he is awful but what good does it do to watch tape of Revis as a NYJ? Different defense, different scheme, and coming of knee surgery he will be a different player. Hope you ripped Stevie for not knowing who played safety for the Patriots???
  20. Don't you think every coach they interviewed asked Nix how long he was goign to remain GM. What coach would want to be hired by a GM that was out the door in less than a year without knowing who was going to be the new GM????
  21. Almost every QB will pick apart a defense if you only rush three or four. Every QB does poorly with a rush up the middle - especially a QB with a bum knee. I have said for years the only way to beat Brady is to blitz early and often - prefarably up the middle. Welker is gone and his replacement has not proven he can take the hits that Welker took. I would leave our LB's in to stop the run and blast Amendola. Even if he makes it through the game he will be a non-factor late in the game. They do not have the WR's to outrun McKelvin or Brooks. I would play a two deep safety zone, man-underneath, and blitz mercilessly. My concern is their backs out of the backfield. I really don't know how well they catch and run. That is how you beat blitzing LB's. Anyone can sit at 5-8 yards off the ball and wait for the hot reciever to turn around. It is the back that will kill you in open space against a slow LB that may have to cross the field to cover them.
  22. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000237857/article/jolonn-dunbar-cut-from-st-louis-rams-suspended-list I have never heard of this guy. Apparently a very good 4-3 LB. Since I think we will play both 3-4 and 4-3 fronts this year maybe he is worth bringing in to help on the outside. Only a four game suspension to serve. Anyone know anything more than what is in this story?
  23. Oh please...try wearing a Patriots jersey to a Bills game. The fans at the Ralph are some of the worst I have ever seen and I have been to half of the opposing stadiums. This has been debated time and time again. Bad economy, lack of other entertainmnet options, cheap ticket prices, relative lack of corporate seats, and alcohol add up to one of the worst environments to see a game. Not saying Patriot fans are better or worse in fact I suspect you did find the local sports bar hostile and threatening. I just think it is what happens when football and alcohol mix.
  24. Tony Gonzalez is a HOF TE and has mostly played with crap at the QB position.
  25. Agree and disagree. I agree you expect a better rate of return on positions like OT, RB, and LB's takne in the first round. But I disagree on the imapct of missing on a QB. Teams are reluctant to do what Carolina did and take Newton the year after taking Clausen. Teams waste years trying to make their pick work instead of just admitting the mistake. Also if Vernon Gholston can't play DE he can at least play special teams. QB's don't even hold placekicks anymore.
