  1. There is no culture of winning that is built from preseason game results
  2. Change this thread to the following and it gets more interesting. Which combination would you rather have to win the Bears game? Fitz/Gailey or EJ/Hackett Right now I would take Fitz an Gailey on the road in a season opener. By season's end it will be EJ or a player to be named later starting next year's season opener.
  3. They all suck. None of them would start for any other team in the league. Having a low level talent like Lee Smith on your team is an indictment of your entire organization.
  4. If you don't have a franchise QB or aging HOF players it is hard use up all of your salary cap. Money has never been an issue in the salary cap era.
  5. 1. Owner 2. Front office 3. No QB with any talent after Kelly except 10 games from Bledsoe 4. No depth 5. Constant change in defensive scheme 6. Tom Brady
  6. The preseason should only be to determine if the Bills need to bring in another veteran QB. I think Whaley and Marrone blew it last year and again this year by not bringing in a quality back-up. Tuel and Thad are only liked on this board because they are not the starters. They are both horrible. EJ is the only starting QB on this team. Whaley had better be looking to make a move if EJ continues to look as bad as he has in camp.
  7. Nothing changes. All he has to do is say Cuomo won't put up the money for a new stadium and poof the Bills are gone. The game plan is already set by Roger. He said the Bills need a new stadium. I truly think Roger would like the Bills in Buffalo. Stable fan base that routinely sells lots of tickets. No stadium shots of covered seats to worry about like Jacksonville. But it is all about facilities. A compromise like in Kansas City or Green Bay where significant upgrades were done may be a viable option. But the city needs investment in a complex more than a stadium that sits 40 minutes from downtown Buffalo.
  8. The only player in the last 15 years that comes to mind who spent significant time with the Bills is Antoine Winfield - five years with the Bills. He wouldn't go in as a Bill. In the end I think he would be a guy that would get cut from the balloting process around 10-15 every year. Great player just not spectacular enough. For example Aeneas Williams had 8 Pro Bowls and 55 INTs compared to 3 and 27 for Winfield.
  9. Marrone and EJ will sink or swim together. He had a hand in picking EJ. He has had a say in not bringing in a veteran. If EJ sucks this year then Marrone is out and so is EJ. There will be enough of a nucleus of a team and enough cap room they can spend in FA for a veteran QB to get this team to the playoffs in 2015. Marrone can keep his job even without a playoff appearance if EJ develops. It is all on EJ. Nothing else matters this year.
  10. Why don't you people let it go. Peters. Lynch. Levitre. Byrd (Nix is the guy that did not extend his contract when he could have). They all had talent and the guys making the decisions in Buffalo did not. The jury is still out on Whaley. So far so good.
  11. They tried the character thing for over a decade and it got them nothing. I will take Dareus, a ProBowl and two arrests thank you very much. You can only lead if you have talent or experience. The only players that qualify are Fred, Mario, Wood, and Kyle. Mario is not a leader. Fred is a platoon 30 year old RB that fumbles too much. Wood and Kyle might be the guys you are looking for as leaders. But we all know what needs to happen. EJ needs to throw for 4200 yards and 32 touchdowns this year. Leadership problem solved!
  12. So far you would have to say almost everything has gone wrong after Sammy Watkins was drafted and Spikes was signed. The most productive WR is gone. No upgrade at TE - probably league worst group. Best LB gone. EJ has not looked good by almost all accounts even the HC. Glenn may have bad kidney's. There still is no good answer at DE opposite Mario. Dareus may be suspended. The OL has been getting destroyed all summer long. A 7th round pick is manning LT. The OC has as much NFL experience as all the three best WR's. The backup QB situation is the worst in the NFL. In the end, it is all on EJ and Schwartz. If the run D is better and EJ is at least solid they may be playing meaningful games past Thanksgiving.
  13. When you finish out of the playoffs for 14 years the only good teams the Bills play on the road based on prior year schedule is the Patriots, a 50/50 chance of playing the NFC division winner, a 50/50 chance of playing another AFC division winner and maybe a NFC wild card winner. Other than that they don't play the good teams on the road.
  14. James wasn't even their true back up - he was their speed guy. The second string back tore his ACL. Gore is old and slow. Nobody knows what Lattimore will have to offer.
  15. San Francisco just lost LaMicheal James and another RB. They are a SuperBowl contender and surefire playoff team meaning their first round pick will be very low. Trade Spiller and a conditional 5th or 6th for their first round pick.
  16. I don't see Easley as a lock. I think they will carry an extra DB and RB this year to play ST's not an extra WR. I think Hogan makes the team and I would not be surprised if Graham makes it too. He can return both punts and kick offs. Easley is just a gunner nothing else. Honestly it may also come down to how many TE vs WR they carry. Watkins Williams Woods Goodwin Hogan Graham (bubble) vs Moeaki's hamstring
  17. Get rid of Smith and just carry an extra lineman. I would rather keep Hairston and an extra Guard/Center on the team, 6 WR, and Chandler/Gragg as the TE's. They don't need three TE's on the roster.
  18. Only way this happens is if EJ sucks it up in preseason and Whaley panics and deals CJ for a QB. Either way no way CJ is here next year unless it is on the franchise tag.
  19. Amen. Neither would be on any other NFL roster. Fitz is better than both. Should have drafted another late round prospect.
  20. He needs to be as good or better than Andy Dalton, Alex Smith, Vick/Smith, and the Charger's offensive line/defense. The Bengals, Chargers, Chiefs and Jets are the main competition for the wild card spots. Yes I think the Patriots will win the division though if the Bills play well it could be up for grabs well into December. The Jets defense may be top 5 by the end of the year if Milliner develops and if Smith develops or Vick bails them out they will be in the playoffs. The Bengals defense is very good, their TE's and AJ Green are amazing. Philip Rivers was a top 8 QB last year and will be again this year. Fortunately their O-line is still suspect and the defense is putrid. What I am saying is for the Bills to make the playoffs EJ needs to be better than one of these situations. It is all on him because the defense isn't good enough. I think the Bills best chance is the Chiefs fall apart and the Jets QB/WR situation is a disaster.
  21. I would stop being a fan the moment they were sold to any group not intent on keeping the team in Buffalo. The Seattle Super Sonics were sold to a guy rom Oklahoma City. It was just a matter of time before the team moved. If the Bills are not sold to a local I am done. I haven't lived in Buffalo since 1988. I probably would not even watch the NFL except I have two boys that enjoy watching the Seahawks. I would rather golf or play in my shop than watch most non Bills NFL games.
  22. To be fair to e-moulds, if you are just playing the odds, a non-football illness in a 300lb African American male is hypertension and kidney disease until proven otherwise. Even in a young male. Mono would still be on the list. Lot's of other semi bad and bad things too. Most other medical non-orthopedic stuff doesn't linger on for weeks.
  23. You can not separate Brady from Belichick. Brady and Montana are the two greatest QB's of all time. Belichick was awful in Cleveland. His drafts have been mediocre. He struck gold with a number of mid-level free agents. He cheated. He will be in the Hall of Fame on the first ballot.
  24. There are 32 teams and only 5 elite QB's. Another 10 are good. The rest are barely adequate or too soon to tell. If anything the answer is bigger rosters. They should add 3-5 roster spots. This would allow teams to truly develop a couple of players. Prevent situations like the Bills going into the season with just Tuel time as the back-up QB.
