  1. Moorman must be trying to overcomensate for lost power. I suspect if he dialed it back 10% the shanks would go away. A 28 yard punt is an absolute killer. That takes away from three 50 yard bombs. Another screw up by Whaley/Marrone. They brought in no one to truly compete with him or the back-up QB's.
  2. It's not just HS coaches. Chip Kelly routinely went for first down on fourth instead of punting of kicking FG. However this is the NFL. The kickers and punters are much more skilled and consistent. The sweet spot is from midfield to the opponents 35. A bad punt and you might net 20 yards.
  3. TJ and a conditional 7th that could be a 6th?
  4. Who would that be? The rapist from Florida State? The kid in UCLA that can't stay healthy? The dual threat from Oregon that can't stay healthy?
  5. Whaley should have stepped in and said you are not playing with my future...
  6. If they are not going to run any real plays, what is the purpose of putting the starters out there for a chance to get injured? Stupid. Marrone is really annoying me now. He has completely !@#$ed up the QB situation and the O-line is not much better. He has made numerous mistakes in time management, situational management, and again the QB's are a lost cause. If there is not significant improvement, Whaley will cut him loose to save his own job.
  7. The guy is in town for two days. How is it fair to let him play? How can you possibly assess his play with no preparation? Stupid move. Could this preseason have gone any worse?
  8. Have to agree with the coaches here. It is about execution not the play calling. Did Denver's offense become vanilla in the Super Bowl?
  9. Honestly couldn't this statement apply to almost every team? There is so little difference in overall talent level across the league. Look at what Indianapolis did with and without Manning/Luck. There are great players everywhere. Look at St. Louis. They might win two games this year with perhaps a top 5 defense now that Bradford is gone. It is all about the QB. Russell Wilson is far from Brady, Brees, Rodgers, or even Luck but he plays well enough. As many have said they shoudl just keep drafting a QB every year until they find a Romo or Brady. I thought this year it might be Murray but probably will be wrong on that. Trade down in the second round and get an extra pick and take a flyer on a QB sometime.
  10. I realize it is a home opener for the Bears. But there defense is awful. This is a bit of hyperbole, but if EJ fails in game one we should prepare for 4-12. There is every reason for EJ to put up great numbers against the Bears. Same thing can be said for the OL with maybe Seantrel getting a pass for inexperience.
  11. We all know if EJ is hurt for any length of time the season is over. It may be a lost season even if he doesn't get hurt. But it makes no sense to cut a reserve offensive lineman, a WR that can play special teams, or an extra DT in favor of a QB that is not a rookie developmental project. It is highly unlikely anyone will sign Thad Lewis or Tuel if he is cut as well. They will both be available later in the year if EJ gets hurt. Thoughts?
  12. Who said that? A bad offensive line is the only way to stop Brady. But that is not the same as saying he is great because their line has been dominant.
  13. I still think the #2 QB is not on the roster yet. Tuel is just as bad as Lewis. Watch for the next wave of cuts and I bet they sign another guy Monday after the Bears loss.
  14. San Diego will be a win. West coast team travelling east for an early game. That is hard to overcome and San Diego's defense is awful. O-line is awful. Rivers is just a notch below a star but there are too many advantages for the Bills in this one. Detroit is a winnable game. But if the offense can't stay on the field sooner or later Stafford, Megatron, and company will wear down the defense. At Miami or Pats at home. If they win either of those it will come down to tie breakers for the playoffs. That makes the San Diego and Kansas City almost must wins. Without those they will not have a good enough record and not enough tie breakers.
  15. Wonder if they go after any of the signing bonus? He missed all of the off season workouts and was arrested. They might have a case...
  16. They would be wise to call Washington and see if Cousins can be had for a second and a third. Cousins will only cause a headache for Gruden because everyone knows he is better than RGIII but can't start him.
  17. Let's hope there is a decent punter the Bills can sign to have a true competition with Moorman. He shanked another one against no rush yesterday. He is terribly inconsistent. He does not angle the ball well. He is just bad at this point. Even a decent punter would beat him out.
  18. Is this a joke? If he loses his job he does get nothing. Very few guaranteed contracts. Also if the player gets arrested it is common for teams to go after signing bonus money they already paid the player.
  19. Is it OK to panic now? Just checking with the it's only preseason apologists.
  20. Kind of embarrassing that it took two pages of this thread to correctly identify Turk Schonert as the fired OC in 2009. And no mention of Langston Walker release either....
  21. Less paid for team. More money for stadium. Sometimes it is simple. The Bills and the Ralph aren't worth that much. New stadium and the value jumps considerably.
  22. 1. Patriots have Brady 2. Jets D is very good. EJ = Geno; Vick >>>>> Tuel 3. Miami - I think they are awful but the media loves Tannehill's wife 4. Bills - Kiko got hurt. EJ has been mediocre in games so far. The line has been a mess up until this week. If EJ plays as well as he has practiced the last two weeks and the line improves, 10 wins is possible.
  23. Graham is getting more reps at safety this week. Searcy still can't cover anyone. Meeks and Williams look like ST's guys and little else. I think Searcy will only play against two TE sets where running is a bit more likely. Graham will definitely be the second safety in the dime and nickel. They have enough CB's to keep Graham at safety if Leodis can stay healthy. I think all these guys make the 53 man roster with Graham a swing CB/S.
  24. EJ's deep ball is not great. It sails too wide. His intermediate throws are what will make or break him. He was high last year. That means bad footwork and not driving through the throw. And that was pre-knee injury and only got worse after the knee. But I would not criticize Hackett for not calling deep ball plays. There were plenty of them ran last year and they do it in practice all the time. Wait for the real games to see if Hackett is any better in year 2...
