  1. you would be wise not to question The Hammer ......... your ONLY defense is he DID state his source was not Buddy the Wonder Dog. Eric, did Buddy at least Ruff! his approval of your source???
  2. you are not talking about the Bills are you? Those dates and times have been out therefor a while now..... http://www.buffalobills.com/schedules/game-schedule.html
  3. It's hard to truly read tone in a post but I didn't mean to do anything other than nudge ya - didn't mean to upset you. I only wanted to point out that WE BOTH would like to have an owner that likes to win but beggars can't be choosers...I hear you. No offense intended.
  4. mrags - I agree with the stay in Buffalo sentiment as a clear number 1 but , actually, I betcha you do care who owns the team....I mean, wouldn't you prefer it be someone(s) who want to win championships even if it means a little less profit?? like the current owner of the Sabres.....the Bills should exist to win Super Bowls. Wouldn't THAT be cool
  5. I don't know PTR - how does one value such a "right"? You are talking about matching the highest bid...right? You can't be suggesting that a first right to buy means no bidding war...right? Again, unless I have read Ralph very wrong, he is determined to get the maximum for his team for his children (and wife). Restricting the bidders to only those that will keep the team in Buffalo has always been contrary to maximizing the offer. HOWEVER, if a current buy(ing group) is willing to pay "fair value" plus covering the tax hit for Ralph selling now, he might be willing to listen to this. I assume that that offer would also include keeping the team in Buffalo and immortalizing RAlph's name in some way (although if the Bills stay in Buffalo Ralph will be immortalized as his "child" the Bills will still be the Buffalo Bills. Case in point - does anyone remember who originally owned the Houston Oilers now that they are in Tennesee?). So, I THINK the bean counters can come up with a figure that is fair. This does mean the buyers will have to pay above market value to buy the team now rather than waiting for Ralph to ...errrr... ya know......
  6. Certainly I hope you are correct and that Doc's "Inside Source" pans out but I still don't see how Ralph overcomes the "I'm still alive and any sale while I'm alive will cost my heirs dearly" problem. Now although it's pretty difficult to put myself in the shoes of a billionaire, I have assumed owning the Bills isn't just about money to Ralph - it is also the prestige and he honestly LIKES running an NFL team. Once he sells, he's out. Period (unless he sells to a family member which was never going to happen). Now, at 93 and finally slowing down, the prestige/power thing may finally no longer be an issue. That just leaves money. So, I suppose it is possible someone will overpay now to get the team now - overpay so as to compensate the tax hit. Maybe that's what's happening.....lord knows if I had the money, I'd overpay just to make sure the team stayed in Buffalo. We just need one rich person (or group of person's) that feel the same way. Eventually, I think one can still make money owning an NFL team
  7. aahhh - that's good enough for me. I vote that you are "allowed" to start a new thread if you like on this if you hear anything more. give er a good title too, herr doctorr!
  8. Doc - you HAVE always been one of the trusted posters so forgive my ignorance here..... you say this was the closest thread to the information you are trying to convey but this thread is about some Philly guy... right...? who wants to buy an NFL team and not necessarily keep it local...right? You are not suggesting THAT would ever be good news .... we all want the Bills to stay in Buffalo so without giving anything away can you at least state that whatever you are talking about it is what I (we) would really mean is "good" news. aka Bills not goin' anywhere type of news...????
  9. I don' t know.......Let's find out. Mario? Make it so!
  10. I agree. It was a very uplifting article and - jeesh - unusual from Kilgore as I see it. It read well....errr...like a news story where one did.....errr....research. Kudos to Ed!
  11. Pretty positive review and I can't fault it much - I do note that they have Anderson starting and he may end being a backup. The Bills on paper are simply loaded at the DE position. The news that Shawne Merriman and Kyle Williams are both healthy is a great sign. Lastly, it is not obvious to me that Gilmore has to start right away. If he does, great but the job won;t be handed to him that's for sure. He'll have to earn it. -RnJ
  12. wow if he had fallen to us I figure we would have taken him messed up, man, messed up
  13. I have also noticed this about McKelvin - that he often seems to be in the right position to knock down the ball but isn't looking back so the receiver catches the ball over/around him. A Pass Rush will certainly help him but is it a question of technique or instinct that makes him a liability out there? If the former, then good coaching can salvage him but if the latter.....not much you can do if he is one-on-one.
  14. Great Story!!!! And Yes, we do welcome people - especially into the Bills Fanatic community!
  15. Hammer is indeed only cantankerous when he's tanked. So, no worries. (of course, he's always.......... ) Great place to be - so don't hesitate to park there!!! Go Bills!
  16. HOWEVER: New England, which made an art of hoarding picks in past years, has only two picks remaining in the entire draft, and at this time doesn't have any third day picks at all.
  17. Yep - I always sought out his mocks since they ALMOST always were the most accurate. I have switched over this year (due to attrition) to CBS' Clark Judge who has a decent record. Here's his latest: http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/mock he has us taking Floyd. I am still hoping for Keuchly This guy is also pretty good: http://draftace.com/blog/mockdraft/mike-band-mock-draft/ I am waiting for him to update his mock. His latest (from April 14th) also has us taking Floyd
  18. I agree John. I particularly liked yesterday's email fan "press conference" where Buddy's responses were interpreted every which way. Other than his comment that "it is unlikely we will draft a TE" - most of his responses could and should have been heard as "maybe and I ain't gonna tell y'all anything else" to any question which started as "could you select "BLANK" " I see no reason to select a safety in round 1. Not with Byrd and Wilson being on the team and having played well with basically no pass rush for years. In fact, the Bills DID have a pass rush early in the season (Merriman IMO was being held on practically every play especially in the Cheatriot's game) and lookie lookie at all the INT's. I like Keuchly to "clean up the mess" (make a zillion tackles) or Floyd to open the field for Stevie. Ifthe Bills go OT, I am o.k. since I feel you can never have too many competent OT's. If they draft Gilmore, I sure hope he is REALLY good. -RnJ
  19. I BELIEVE marijuana stays in the bloodstream for quite a while (more than a week??) so, he's young , not TOO smart and this really attractive girl hands him a joint and smiles at him......what's one puff huh baby? o.k. - it was dumb but at least he admitted it yada yada yada ummmmm because it's illegal maybe? but don;t yell at me, I am o.k with making it legal. I don;t smoke but I do like my bourbon.........
  20. For Pot http://tracking.si.com/2012/04/19/nfl-prospect-mike-adams-tested-positive-for-marijuana-at-combine/ seems minor TO ME. If he drops to #41, I have no problem with taking him. my 2 cents
  21. Nix says he can play all three positions but I'd like him in the middle behind our two monster lineman so he never gets blocked. Let him call the plays and seldom blitz (leave that to Merriman if he doesn't have his hand on the ground replacing Kelsay) and Barnett or Moats). Keuchly would also be given the assignment of covering TE's - apparently he is o.k. at that.
  22. Gosselin was promoted an now says he will not have the time to do mocks. I always used him as my main "squeeze" for mocks . I was disappointed but oh well...
  23. My GUESS (and that's all it is) is given that this is the last year in the Toronto series contract, the Front Office will want a sell out. best chance is to put the marquee "home" game there. That would have to mean the Patriots. So - I am predicting Patriots "at" Bills in Toronto sometime in late October - early November. As to the Home Opener, I expect it to be week 2 and I predict it will be St Louis. Maybe Billsstart the season - on the road - and at Indianapolis. The obvious national game is Bills at Houston. Just guesses....I have found no leaks anywhere....same as last year. Two year's ago, the Dolphins leaked their schedule a few hours early.
  24. For what it's worth, the miami dolphins website has on their schedule page: Schedule Release Party Join us at Duffy's in North Miami Beach on April 17th to celebrate the release of the 2012 NFL schedule and find out who the Dolphins will open up against! But, we are talking about the Fish......
  25. I think the delay was caused by the Peyton Manning signing and the trade of Tebow. The owner's meeting was only one week after the signing and just a day or so before the Tebow trade. The schedule was set before then and simply needed owner approval BUT the networks probably chimed in requesting a switch. Once this happened, assuming it did, then the schedule was delayed. Just a guess....
