Volunteer Firemen or Professional Firemen
Bills99999 replied to Bills99999's topic in Off the Wall Archives
My cousin did his masters thesis on converting all fire departments in Erie County to paid departments. He estimated that taxes in municipalities that presently have volunteer firemen, their county taxes increase by an average of $180 per year (15 bucks a month added to the mortgage), while Buffalo residents would see an $82 dollar per year DECREASE in their taxes with the county-wide paid fire department. His study also pointed out that homeowners insurance would decrease to the point that county residents would see a savings when all was said and done. Although some firemen have an unhealthy facination with fire, I don't think it is pure pyromania that motivates firefighter arson. Most of the time, it is bored volunteers who are looking for the excitement and challenge of fighting a fire, but out in the country, there aren't enough fires -

I guess I am so anti-Newton that I just heard what I wanted to hear. As far as my brother goes, he is almost always right. He is not a sports gambler, but if he were, he would make huge money. My brother is on disability, so he has plenty of time to study sports and talk to other drunks in sports bars who have nothing better to do. I talked to him about posting here, but he says posting on forums is for chumps. He called me a chump No, but alot of these guys personally knowscouts and GM's If Oregon had Auburn's DL, it would have been a completely different game I only saw him play twice, but I did see a picture of his laptop -
Maybe you can go to a Bills playoff game

You seem to have some issues with volunteer firemen I am open to your ideas. Do you have any supporting evidence? -

Todd MCBeth on ESBN today did not have many good things to say about Newton as an NFL QB. He said he is not accurate in the pocket and Auburns offense is not similar to the NFL. He also questioned Newton's maturity My brother frequents several sports bars and he gets alot of good info. He says the Bills will take Newton in the first round. I hope he is wrong, but he usually right -
Some of you live where the firemen are volunteers and some of you live where they are professional Which type do you have in your city and town, and do they do a good job?

This is not college or high school. This is the NFL Newton has never thrown a block from the line of scrimmage, nor will his ego let him try. There are literally hundreds of college TE's with the physical abilities and the developed skills to be a better tight end than Newton, who will never play a down in the NFL Could he be developed into a TE? Maybe, but it would take about three years Another factor is that he would never be happy making the salary of a backup TE, which would be about half of his Auburn salary and benefit package

I hope we pass on Newton He sickens me He lies, he cheats, he steals laptops, he's stupid, he hides behind what he thinks is "God", and he will not make a very good NFL QB Anything else? -

When my friends and I were kids, we all assumed Cookie was the dumbest player on the Bills because the spot on his football card for his college said "none" I know better now. 90% of the players who DID go to college are also dumb

You might be right Excellent post -
At this time, I would like to apologize to everyone (except Aaron Maybin, Jerry Jones, Jimmy Johnson, Donnie Saunders and Michael Irving) who was offended by anything I have ever posted on this forum. I would especially like to apologize to “Gringo Star”. I want everyone to know that my remarks were not intended as a personal attack, but as social commentary, and his personal life is none of my business. Maybe I chose the wrong words, and for that I apologize. Sorry.

Setting the High Standard for Humane Processing of Horses
Bills99999 replied to a topic in Off the Wall Archives
Does anyone remember that roast beef place in the Baily Lovejoy area called "Baylo's". It burned down in the late 70's. Rumor was they were shut down for a couple weeks for serving horse meat. I don't know if I got any horse meat, but I loved their sammages My father used to joke "Somebody walked into Baylo's yesterday, yelled "whoh" and 50 people choked to death I would be willing to try horse meat if it were processed in clean conditions. I would also like to try dog meat in some kind of curry stuff. I'll pass on cat, rat, snake etc -
Anyone ever done a treadmill stress test?
Bills99999 replied to Richmond_Bills's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Back in 1996 when I was 39, I woke up in the middle of the night to take a leak, got dizzy, fell, and woke up on the floor with my fibula snapped in half. I had an episode of "atrial fibulation" (sp?) I could not do an actual treadmill test because of the broken leg, so they simulated it by pumping me with a drug that made my heart pound out of my chest (bad feeling). They said it indicated some possible blockage, so they sceduled me for a "cardiac catherization" where they poked a hole in my femoral and threaded a fancy camera up through my heart to look for blockage and intended to put in stent(s) to open it up.Immediate open heart surgery was also a possibility. They found no blockage, which is surprizing because I am morbidly obese and I eat a high fat diet. -
If there is a lockout and no games are played next year, what determines the following year's draft order?

Do you think there is some wheeling and dealing going on to trade our first pick for some established talent?

The first day I had my learner's permit, I just missed running over Congressman Jack Kemp in front of Main Place Mall I saw Bruce Smith in a ghetto supermarket OJ Simpson came to one of our football practices the day after we lost a big game. They did not offer Tom Day signed the cast on my broken leg when i was 9 I beat up Aaron Maybin yesterday with one hand tied behind my back Non Bills- When I was a security guard at Children's Hospital ((working with Pertino in Albany) I found Mitch Miller roaming around in front at 3 am. He was there to visit a relative I worked as a body guard one day for Charlton Heston I saw James Garner in a Mexican restaurant I met Bob Hoffman at his York Barbell Company I played against Phil McConkey I played against Bill Hurley
