Want to feel really good & have a laugh
Homey D. Clown replied to Mike in Syracuse's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I remember that very well, and Bills fans and media as well questioned the likes of Jim Kelly and Marv Levy. "Kelly throws too many interceptions", "Marv gets outcoached in big games", "It's time to see what Frank Reich can do", "Bruce Smith runs past too many plays trying to get sacks".... Anyone else remember this stuff back then? Nobody likes to see their team lose, and when they do, all you are left with is doubt, and plenty of offseason to question everything to find the answer. BUT, it is nice to see the cheatriots fans eating a little humble pie right now... -
I couldn't have said this better myself. The team does need to add an elite QB at some point, this is just unavoidable no matter how you feel about Fitzpatrick.

I find it unpossible to take this clown seriously. -
To: "But, why didn't we trade down?" people
Homey D. Clown replied to OCinBuffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I know this sounds a little cynical, but until there is a new CBA in place, nothing really matters. As of right now, there will be no games played in 2011, and God forbid Ralph is no longer with us before an agreement is reached, it is quite possible that we have all seen the last football played in western NY. There's no denying that, and especially since the stadium lease is up in 2012 with no signs of a new one on the horizon. Sorry to be a downer, but this has been in the back of my mind all season, and this upcoming draft just doesn't excite me. Until the league figures things out, and some glimmer of hope shows it's face regarding the team's future in Buffalo, I just find it hard to be able to enjoy "future" prospects. Slam me if you like, but ignoring that it's there doesn't make it go away, just like a cavity, or rust on a car. -
I really could care less about him. His abilities and limitations are very clear, he is just not a great decision maker on or off the field, and if you think he has turned a new leaf, don't be so quick to think that. In front of a microphone and camera, he is mildly remorseful, and even that is transparent to me. Off the field he is still very much a self-proclaimed thug, likes to portray an image of a criminal with an entourage, and has an unrealistic opinion of himself which are all the behaviors that were present in the man that made those dog killing decisions. So he played a few good games on a well coached team with lots of talent around him and a solid defense, lets give him an award. I am very glad he is not a Buffalo Bill, I just don't see him as a person of character.

Do not want Cam Newton. Way too many ifs, and with a #3 pick this team can't afford that. There's really no other reason to debate, since this team has missed so many times in the past decade on 1st rounders. This is a pocket passer league, plain and simple, and Cam newton is not. Even Michael Vick at his very best won't get you to the dance, so why waste your time with a run 1st qb?

For as little game time he had in the offense as the starting tailback, I find it hard to see where all the 2nd guessing is coming from. As a tailback, there wasn't a game where he was in enough to get into a rhythm, so when he did get a shot, he tried too hard to break it. With a stronger O-line everything would have looked better last year, so maybe in CJ's case we take a wait and see approach, he has way too much raw talent and achieved far too much in college to doubt him just yet.

I knew this reaction was coming as I saw the highlights on NFL Network, and thought "Ohh great, here we go with the Marshawn is awesome, and Nix/gailey are stupid" threads. I am not going to judge him or any other player on one game, or one season, let alone one run. Yes, the run was amazing, and since he is so slow and indecisive, every guy on defense had a crack at him, and maybe even a few more than once. I will say that on film it looked impressive, and he looked strong indeed, but my point here is that he has proven time and time again that he is not capable of doing that all the time, or even for games at a time. I will be the very last person on earth to miss him, simply due to the fact I never saw him as an elite back, and unless this marvelous run has converted him from now forward into an elite player, I don't see what the fuss is. I still believe the Bills did the right thing. The guy wanted out anyway. In case anyone has been paying attention, his stats have been average at best since the trade.

Bills top list of landing spots for Vince Young
Homey D. Clown replied to ALLEN1QB's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
One team's garbage will be another team's garbage. I live in Nashville currently, and have heard him many times in interviews. I can't believe after hearing some of these interviews that he even has the ability to read. For a position that calls for intelligence and quick thinking, I don't see how he would be a good fit anywhere. -
This thread can't possibly be serious. Every time a crappy "never will be" QB seems to be headed for the garbage pile, someone on this board posts what a tremendous upside the bum has. yes, Vince Young is a very, and incredibly talented athlete but a good QB, seriously, no. I was quietly watching when people posted threads for almost every other QB out there, but this one takes the cake. Sorry, it just gets old. In the NFL(Most cases) one man's trash is another man's trash.

what previous NFL Great wide-out did you admire growing up, and who do you pattern your game after? How do you want your career to be remembered: 1. as a great achiever who played for one team (Selfless) 2. a Me first showman who may attain great stats, but never built strong ties to one team/teammates

How I would treat Tom Brady
Homey D. Clown replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's also been said "There's no crying in baseball" - So on the other side of the coin you have to accept the point "don't cry about it if you can't stop it" -
Down on Spiller? Look at McFadden.
Homey D. Clown replied to Mr. T's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I firmly believe the Spiller pick will be remembered for one of the best picks of the decade(I know, that's not saying much) but It's clear to me he can play, and has already flashed some serious talent. If we all remember, the knock on Thurman his first year was that he was small and underweight, but still managed to gain 881 yards his rookie year. If Spiller had been the featured back the entire year, we would have seen a modest output from him this year as well. -
This was bound to happen

After so many close calls, I had a feeling a letdown was on it's way. What happens next will be interesting. -
The team has been playing solid football lately, and beginning to come together on many levels. In more ways, they have been performing in most phases of the game higher than some of the top teams in the league, so much so, that the team was able to compete, and compensate for the worst rushing attack in the league. They even played quite well at times yesterday, but you could clearly see this game coming. They are a team very hungry to win games, and after the colossal let-down against the Steelers at home, seemed like a team pressing too hard at times. They are a prideful team that wants to win, and in time I firmly believe they will. When you take into account a recent rash of injuries to starters on both lines, an area where the team has only begun to perform decently, but has very shallow depth from a talent perspective, then add in three recent week overtime losses to solid NFL top tier teams, and this tends to happen. Guys getting out of position, fumbling on plays, breakdowns on assignments, this was more a result of a team with a strong desire to win pushing too hard, and I do see it as a good thing, and a sign of good things to come. They are learning to win, and with some depth at a few positions, and a few more players obtained at key positions, and it's not a far stretch to believe they are on the right track, but this loss was inevitable, and I hope the team does not hang their heads.

this season in no way comes close to the 1984 season. That team was brutal in every sense of the word, and in most cases completely un-watchable with absolutely nothing to root for. They were so devoid of talent that year, you could actually hear them suck out loud.
-
Yes, exactly... it's uncanny how these teams both have mid to bottom end defenses, and a top notch pass rusher. I loved what he did here, but I have to hope there's someone capable of more.

I do want to preface my comments with the statement that I truly appreciated the Bill Polian era, and we probably would still be a competitive team to this day, but when you look at Polian's body of work, it's hard not to question what does he seem to lack in order to win a SuperBowl, or even further, field a team that can win in the post season deep, or be the dominant team in the post season? I ask this strictly because if it weren't for Rex Grossman, Polian's SuperBowl teams would be 0-6. The Colts have been outplayed by Pittsburgh and New England at times in the playoffs and regular season that really make you think that there has to be something to this theory I have that Bill Polian is great at getting you there, but not dancing with you. I know the man-love in Bill country will disagree with my theory in a landslide manner, but when you have QB's like Jim Kelly, Peyton Manning, and even Frank Reich, and all the Hall of famers he dug up on offense for these teams, maybe, just maybe we as a team would have only been in for more heartache. It's time to look at his leaving in a different light and put it behind us as a franchise. Maybe we're actually better off. I honestly think this team will be.

Bills starting to get respect
Homey D. Clown replied to SouthGeorgiaBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
it's been a long time since the Bills could keep pace with the upper echelon of the NFL, and it will be a little longer still. I love how they are playing right now, but I am not seeing this game being very close. I hope they do win, but i feel this game might go more along the lines of the Jets loss than anything else. Their day is coming, and I think we can all sense it a little around here, but just not yet. -
Roll Call - Who would have preferred to lose?
Homey D. Clown replied to The Senator's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
tanking a season is no different than taking a dive in boxing. It's flat out wrong. If you don't learn to win the right way now, the team never will have the right attitude, and what type of message does that send to the team? Nevermind what I think about fans wanting the team to lose. -
throwbacks from the 64-66 era please. I am still not sure why the team won't embrace that look again, they were the best, next to the 90's jerseys. I can't stand the current uniforms.

The official the O-Line does not suck anymore thread
Homey D. Clown replied to 1B4IDie's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
with all honesty, the OP is correct, they are a much improved squad, and many in this thread have pointed out that Gailey's wrinkles, plus the quicker reads make by Fitzpatrick have added to the perception of the line's play, but I think they have a long way to go still. Simply put - Can this line dominate a defensive front yet? I think most here can agree the answer to that is no, and that's not considering the top tier teams. I will say I see this group only getting better with time, and possibly another well drafted player for the right side of the line. I don't think the teams needs to spend a high draft pick on an LT or RT right now though, I think DE and OLB should be the focus right now. -
Now this is bad stadium behavior, not in Buffalo
Homey D. Clown replied to plenzmd1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
something very similar happened to a father and his son as we exited the stadium after the Tennessee playoff game(music city mistake). those fans were poor. -
This would have made a good poll thread, but no, I still don't see the man as a great QB. Great athlete yes, and he is having a great year, but his career speaks for itself, and he is an average QB at best with poor downfield vision and accuracy. Secondly, yes he has paid his debt to society, and has moved on, but I don't like his character, and that's more than I need. Pass on Vick. FWIW - I'd also pass on Rothlisbooger too. I simply don't like his character, maybe the guys from the 90's teams have spoiled me, but I want to see a guy come to Buffalo with passion for the game, a love for the city, and a player that sees himself as a part of a team, not just a great player.
