I don't know if this statement deserves a response. But here I go ... I understand that there are many players deserving to get in i.e. Andre Reed, but to say Shannon Sharpe doesn't is ridiculous. He was a huge part of that offense, and he reinvented the tight-end position.

There can only be one plan: Andrew Luck
bluecarter replied to offyourocker's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We lose Poz, I really don't see this as a loss. The Jags wanted him, and probably over paid him. I think Poz was probably one of the reasons the defense has sucked. During his time here we have placed 24th last year, 19th in 2009, 14th in 2008, and 31st in the year he was drafted. He is basically the equivalent to the Quarterback of the the defense, so shouldn't he take the blame for the poor performance? Second I haven't seen any real plays from him that make him a star. He's average, and there are plenty of Linebackers out there that can step in and replace him. We won't see a difference, and honestly it would be hard to see one. What will we drop to 24th to 32nd, I doubt it, and if anything Marcell Dareus will make all the rest of the Linebacking Corps. better. -
Good news for Bills, Bad news for Dareus
bluecarter replied to Kingfish's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good news CBS is reporting that rookie pay will drop 40 to 50 percent so Marcell Dareus should be playing sooner since there will be no need to hold out, and get some need reps. The great news is this was a great year to pick high, and Buffalo should only be paying him at the most a four year contract for 30.24 million with 16.4 million guaranteed. Since there is a salary floor in the CBA there will be plenty of money that needs to be used for a team that has been way under cap for such a long time. Oh yea, I couldn't figure out the year five extension cost because I couldn't find salary data for 2010. This is just using Gerald McCoy's contract from last year. -
Maybe you guys will be better

I used to think of Jets fans as I did Giants fans, but since Rex I didn't realize how much white trash actually existed. What kind of DB do you have to be to post something like this? I love how the Jets sold the farm for a mediocre Mark Sanchez, Fitz is the number two quarterback in the AFC East with Sanchez competing with whoever the Dolphins are starting at the moment. Their defense is the only thing that kept them in games, NOT their offense. For us it's backwards until this draft. I'm not saying the Bills will make the playoffs, but I'm sure we can get a win against the 2012 Super Bowl Champion Jets this coming up season. I hope our defensive line eats Sanchez! -
51 years without picking a QB first
bluecarter replied to BADOLBILZ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Two points this years quarterback selection sucked. If luck had come out that would have been someone to go after, but newton is a one trick pony, he runs. Gabbert is okay, but there were teams that passed him that needed a quarterback. Quarterbacks flop all the time, and Gailey has a track record of taken league left overs and making them into good signal callers. Second with the labor issue not taken care of why would you want to draft a quarterback when he might not even get to practice this year. Also, we don't know what to expect to pay a quarterback. It's a whole lot easier to negotiate a contract for a defensive tackle than a quarterback especially in uncertain times. I know this is a quarterback driven league, but defense still wins games, and offense sells tickets, and right now the bills can do neither. -
Round 1 (Pick #3): DT Marcell Dareus - University of Alabama

Him and Williams with Troup will be nasty -
Whoever doesn't want a QB at #3 is dillusional
bluecarter replied to buffalo_bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So your thinking is since we suck at drafting, we might as well keep sucking? -
Whoever doesn't want a QB at #3 is dillusional
bluecarter replied to buffalo_bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hmm I think this guy is dillusional. I really want to bank on Gabbert or Newton. Newton had a (sigular) season. Now if Andrew Luck had come out that would be a different story. Here is my question to you sir? What was a better pick Mario Williams or Reggie Bush? I would have picked Mario, but I guess you would have selected Reggie Bush. -
NFL Network has the Draft 2011 War Room rating of all the fans across the Country and at the moment we are ranked fourth from the bottom in participation. I want to see us in the top, but at the least out of the bottom five. Click on here and show some support. http://www.nfl.com/draft/2011/war-rooms#team:CAR

I think he is as of right now a solid fourth rounder, and if he is there in the fifth is a steal. Difference is he is fourth rounder that will start to contribute right from the start. I think it's funny that everyone is putting the guy down. He's had a great season and he is projected for late in the draft. It's not like Arron Maybin where he'll be a first round bust. I like the kid and I wouldn't mind seeing buffalo take him in the third if they rated him that high. I think the kids got great values, stays clean, and has the same motor if not higher than his brothers. He's biggest plus is his knowledge of the game. I think with him our LB's will be helped out by some young talent.

Cam Newton has a Bad News written all over him. I think he'll hold out long into the preseason, and he seems more of a Arron Maybin. No one heard of him beginning of this year, and now he's the MAN. I'm not a fan of one year wonders, and think will all the news following him it doesn't seem he had nothing to do with it.

Kelly giving Fitz nod of approval?
bluecarter replied to SpecialK15's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yea, he made sure to throw Fitz in there. I was surprised they asked about Mike Vick. I thought everyone knew Jim Kelly hates him, and won't forgive him about the dog fighting/killing issue. I think the truth is Jim misses the ball slinging of the Buffalo Bills of the 90's. Jim seems to take the situation of the Bills personally, and really wants them to rise back to a powerhouse. -
Thank God it's over!

SI's Jeff Pearlman should be ashamed.
bluecarter replied to BillsFanForever19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've lived all over the country. I spent two years in SoCal. Did I love it, YES! Here is the problem, if you aren't in the playoffs they don't give a flying F#*% about showing up to the game. So lets talk about culture. Has buffalo had blacked out games yes, but with a way worse team. We have fans even when the team loses. It's blue collar, vs. San Diego white collar snobs. San Diego is a beach town not a football town. Trust me if you are concerned about the weather and culture of this football town, maybe you should have picked a different profession. How about lifeguard! Don't get me wrong I like San Diego, but they live in a fantasy world, plus more residents there watch de futbol. Might as well be Mexico! -
It's debatable on how close or far away from top form he is. The fact is our LB's are getting man handled. We can use the help. I say yes!

First let's get rid of the value picking!!! The bills have wholes and everyone knows what they are. IMHO the lines are where games are won. This coming years draft does not seem to be an offensive line year, but if we can snag the best available of either line in the second round position I'd say that we are doing well. I'm not even sold on going QB but Luck and Newton are hard to pass up. I'd say take them but don't play them until the line is solid, and they know the system. Possibly let them sit for half the season. Free agency needs to be very active this year. We need two linebackers of starting quality, and a O or d-linemen. Other than that the teams is solid. Our problem right now is the RT. Cornell Green was horrible, and Cordaro is not good either. The rest of the line is stout.

Kyle Williams deserves all the contract extension money Kelsay gets!

Last year Buffalo was a 4-3 bend but don't break system. They had marginal pressure, but the meat an potatoes was for the other team to mess up. They were a great defense in the Red zone as well, using the shorter field to their advantage. Another main point is our defense is under sized for the 3-4, before Buffalo was fast and ran all over the field making up for their lack of size issue. I'd say if all the staff is smart next draft (free agency) and they stay away from the offense and focus on building up the 3-4 Line, and the Linebacker Corps., they should be vastly improved. Honestly I'm a big fan of the 3-4. We ran it in the 90's, and it has severed buffalo well. They just need to become stout on defending the run. Last week was a great game to grow from. The team held Ray Rice, and Willis to 136 yards. I considered that to be a great stat, and I know when the run defense is brought up to a top of the NFL all the rest of the defense will come along and feed off of that fact. Also I don't think Edwards is a bad Defense coach. I think this is a tall order for someone to complete and win at the same time. My biggest complaint is why were we giving Kelsay contract extensions? I think Buffalo has always treated him so well for poor production. Also this is just all apart of bottoming out. NO ONE LIKES IT!

My first prediction in 20 years
bluecarter replied to DIE HARD 1967's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think all of Billieve nation thinks we can win this one for some reason. I don't understand it. I think it's in everyone's gut that this is the game we break the losing streak. I think it will be tough, but after last weeks lose, the bills think they can win now. THANKS GOD! -
Athletically TO is a monster, but with as many drops as he has not that great of a receiver. If you watch his games in Cincy he drops them there too! I think the Bengals will draft a couple receivers this year, with some o-linemen. Scoring points hasn't ever been their problem. Defense and protecting Palmer is.

AMEN. FORGET ABOUT QUARTERBACK!
-
I say either trade first pick and grab all the def, and linebackers to build that up. WE NEED TO STOP THE RUN!!! While being able to defend the pass. If we had linebackers, and a line that could stop the run by themselves we wouldn't need safeties in run stop mode. Especially in December, we need to make teams have to throw the ball. If we get them into that, we have a chance to win. We need to pick up a linebacker or a converted safety that can keep up with TE's they are killing us.

Scared That Bills Take Ponder With First Pick
bluecarter replied to box0life's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Take Ponder, but not even close to the first round (look for third or fourth round). I have to problem if he's a value pick late in the draft, but actually I don't see the Bills messing with a QB this year in the draft. They have too many holes on the team to venture there. I like spiller, a lot, but we made a mistake by not addressing both sides of the lines. Thank God Cornell Green is not playing. He should be a revolving door at Macy's. The Offensive line looks to be able to rebound within the next year, and could be stout next year with Wang coming back. They also have been improving. The Defensive line is okay, but we have to come to reality. They are old! Stroud (I love the dude), he needs a guy to back him up and possible be he's replacement. So we could draft a DE for the 3-4 like Marcell Dareus, or we could go linebacker. I like the fact we learned our lesson about Maybin, so now we can go out and pick up linebackers in the Draft. We need like three! If we are smart most of our draft picks will be Defense and on the line and line backers. NO MORE DB's please! We need to forget about a Quarterback. Lets build a solid run team, and solid defense, and a solid special teams and then go for our guy. Now if we draft a quarterback a suggest letting him sit a year or two, and bring him a long slowly instead of throwing him in the fire.
