Beat me to it.... for beef on weck this is the best spot. No wings. But there's a Duff's a few miles from the stadium for that too. Bar Bill is overrated and if heading to the airport, out of your way. 911 and Doc Sullivans in South Buffalo have great wings, 911 is a probably too long of a wait, notoriously slow.

Jets game proved teams are built in the trenches

Funny what how talent makes play design and pass protection, and coaches, look good. -
Can't recall a home opener I didn't want to go to, this is a first. I see lots of missed games and lost money this year with late season games not worth adding $25 in parking to the sunk cost of the tickets. Classic cut your losses. This is the worst team in the league. And this Gaines clown is in for a long day Sunday.

Will anything change before week 2?
zonabb replied to Brianmoorman4jesus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not sure but I'd be shocked if this GM stood pat. Some of these guys are interchangeable parts worth swapping out to see if someone on the streets is any better. Allen doesn't make the OL better. And maybe, just maybe, Peterman sucks because the WR, like many positions, were not upgraded and weren't actually open, which I suspect will be clear when the All-22 dorks come out of their basements. This rush to start Allen should, based on the logic, include a rush to start anyone but McCoy. Oh wait, McCoy's untouchable right and we can blame the OL for his problems but not for Peterman. Got it. They'll be 0-4 before it turns October. -
Don't care what he says, won't read it. But these are the facts: 1. He dreamed of covering his hometown Boston teams, preferably the Celtics and he was so awful no paper would have him. 2. His writing skills are subpar, which certainly forced him into staying in the bottom media market and not allowing him to rise as he thought he should. 3. His insight and analysis was subpar. He was no Felser or Kelly. 4. he had zero connection to players, coaches or fans, cutting his credibility and ability to be good. 5. Of those who resigned, were let go, or otherwise departed the news, this prick is the only one still unemployed. 5. He can cut us down as fans and as a city all he wants but the fact remains, he sucked at his job, grew to be a bitter reporter due to his own inadequacies and inabilities and inadequecies he took his misery and lack of success out on sports teams and fans. He tried covering sports like we need people covering politics. Teams owe us nothing and he and other entitled media types often miss this point (Schopp is one as well)... which is teams owe you zero. Zero access, zero answers, zero truth. 6. And since he likes cutting us down, let's not forget that this miserable curmudgeon was a divorced by his wife and his skank of a daughter ended up on some reality TV and is a basically a pole dancer in Vegas. So stop feeding this troll. He's a stain on the media in this town, a self-loathing, miserable loser who's era of winning the fight because his employer bought ink by the barrel is long over since every other talentless ahole has a voice as miserable and useless as his. Have fun in the dustbin of Buffalo media history. This city owes you nothing and we'd be happy if you departed, tail between you legs and weekly unemployment check dangling in your hand.

Offense likely to be the issue. FO under-drafted and under-spent on the OL, which we'll see how that works out. WR is weak. Shady is older. So you can see questions on that side of the ball, and rightly so. The D I don't see as being that bad. Davis is a weak link apparently but I suspect the D is better and gets better as the season progresses. There's one caveat.... Murphy and Williams don't miss tons of snaps. I just think the national media is clueless on the D but rightly picking on the O.

And I believe Bleacher Report has more credibility than anything that steamy pile of orange excrement squatting in the White House says. If you want to play "Which president is the biggest liar" you shouldn't let your red side show by going to the Clinton card, that's a weak deflection from the current state of deception, lying, and treachery we're currently staying with. But then again, with an avatar of one of the least educated state in America, I expect such normative nonsense. And yes, Clinton lied. They all do.

Hope it impacts the CBA, putting more time into actual coaching in the offseason but to me the "impact the CBA" point, which Sal "Max and Syracuse U" Carpaccio didn't offer anything on, will be an agreement to go to an 18 game season (league would gladly go to 18 games) and hopefully no preseason (which I think the players would agree to), saving STHs from being annually robbed by the owners for preseason games like the one forth coming Thursday.

I've used the term "neanderthals" when talking about the old school football mentality of coaches and people who post here with antiquated ideas and "this is how we did it when I was in diapers." And you are merely reinforcing that and the prehistoric blast in this article. So let me dissect your Drumpf-ian response. 1. First, how can we know if the media doesn't report it? Are we supposed to be everywhere at once, watching sports practice, legislative meetings, car shows, concerts, and every other event simultaneously? We can't care about what we don't know about. Hence the value of the media in America, whether it suits your needs, agenda, or ideology. So since we care, we're merely lemmings to the media, waiting for them to tell us how to feel? 2. If the mass media only cared is a parent killed a coach, how do you explain this article, which isn't covering the murder of a coach by a vengeful parent but merely reporting that football, in college (and I would argue everywhere) is run by neaderthals who refuse to evolve to science, technology, and human psychology and remain as outdated as the arguments in favor of suicide drills and two a days in 100 degree heat. I bet I can surmise a lot of your ideology about government, people, immigration, and trade based on this moronic post dripping with implications and innuendo.

The Athletic vs. The Buffalo News: Which Side Are YOU On?
zonabb replied to BuffaloRush's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Neither, I stopped paying for garbage content a long time ago. The BN is like cable, you want only a few things but have to pay for this monstrosity of irrelevant junk so you can get the content you want. Worse off, the BN used to do well with local news and that sucks now as the paper has moved from marketing to intelligent readers interested in politics and policy and quality local news to the American Dumb Dumb Model where you pile on the junk that conspicuous consumers and reality TV junkies like. So its the daily "Hey, where are middle and upper class white people hanging out today for $8 food truck tacos and $8 bad local craft beers?" photo galleries. Constant marketing of the mythical "resurgence" to help politicians and local developers peddle their lies. Hey by the way, how's the $750M factory we NYS taxpayers built working out? Investigative journalism at the BN? Gone. Replaced by the much better, both in quality and quantity, work from The Public. And the sports coverage there has been crushed here ad nauseam. Whatever happened to the miserable yet self-righteous and extremely skilled hack Jerry Sullivan? Funny how he complaining publicly that the BN said his voice doesn't sell and he's out there without a job. Odd. I've based that guy here for years and said he was a low quality local news guy who dreamed over working at his beloved Boston papers but couldn't even rise out of a media market out the top 50. And there he is outside looking in somewhere. Maybe I should try the Athletic for my sports since it counters my criticism of buying the whole package of cable when I just want three channels. But I don't actually care to read sport much anymore. Tired of the snark, tired of arrogance, tired of the hot takes, just tired of where it has gone. Barely listen to the radio either. Almost everyone on WGR drives me nuts, with Sal "I Call Every Bills Player by Their First Name Because I Trying to act like we're pals" Capaccio is unbearable. He puts the "me" into every spot he's on, whether directly (No one gives a sheet about your kid, no one) or indirectly. As someone said in another thread about that moron Cris Carter, which only cements why I don't watch sports show either.... I get more information and analysis here than any media outlet. If it's opinions I want, this place is dripping with them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
Short in time or distance? This is Bflo, laughingly easy to get around, unlike Philly (haha), even after games. If you want to ditch right after the game, it's a slow slog. If you post-game a bit, say until 5:30, it's easier. In either case, I'd suggest somewhere downtown if you're interested in the watching some late games and having some dinner. And really, from the stadium, with minimal traffic, "downtown" is 20+ minutes. You could stay in the burbs near some strip plazas and chains, has to be somewhere near the stadium on McKinley.

Bills preview on Good Morning Football
zonabb replied to RPbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sorry buy I will never, ever give any credibility to a woman sports personality when they lead with their gender/sexuality. Never heard of Kay Adams but I checked her Twitter acct and her picture is oozing with it. That's fine if that's how she wants to portray herself but it smacks of low self esteem and an inferiority complex. When was the last time a male sports personality posed like she does in this picture, attempting to sexualize, not professionalize, himself? I basically gave up on sports shows when they started forcing good looking woman with little sports knowledge into covering all men's sports. And since I've never heard of this woman, that should confirm it. I find it offensive to me as a male to be thought needing some eye candy to capture my attention and keep me focused. Basically, sports talk and highlight shows suck. Screaming hot takes, constant arguing, and the hip-hop-ification of the English language only aims for the lowest common denominator. Berman started the insanity of highlights with his stupid schtick and guys like Stewart Scott made it worse. And if you think it's not about their looks but about their skill as reporters, journalists, analysts, and thinkers, explain to me then how every single woman in sports is very good looking and few aren't. I watch non-Bills games on occasion, I see the sideline woman. I saw some NBA this year. I watched the PGA Championship and that girl they had interviewing players after their round was very good looking. Where are the fat, ugly, trolls with that superior knowledge of sports everyone says these young ones have that comes just from reading a teleprompter and being coached up real well. -
Classic bias and dichotomy here at TBD. Mod just shut down a thread critical of the OL because, in all caps, NO ONE CAN PREDICT HOW GOOD THE OL WILL BE. Sounds like a challenge smart people would gladly accept. But this thread is alive and well which is also predictive but positive. So I guess positive predictions based on homerism are good. Ones not based on homerism that are critical are bad. Everyone understand. Carry on. Mod implied that good posters have left because of critical threads. Lots of good posters I know have left because of over zealous mods who have pursued with vigor anyone who criticizes (see: uses their brain nor their heart) the team, ownership, or the media that for some reason hang out and post here. Forums are better when not babysat by gatekeepers.

McDermott and Beane address the media at 4pm from camp
zonabb replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yep, for a guy who's entire schtick is passing off the ideas and research of others as his own and then adamantly defending it with consistent hyperbole, hot (see: lame) takes, and not having an original thought, this is pretty lame. Pot meet kettle. When you listen, and I do when forced to, you can bet if they're talking hockey, he's talking puck possession, Corsi, and other nonsense he read somewhere else. If it's football, it's advanced analytics he read somewhere. Toss up who's worse him or that jock-sniffer Sal "I interject my kids name into every broadcast multiple times Capaccio. -
Who cares? Oh, only those emotional types who so badly want the guy to succeed and thereby roll out tidbit after tidbit as if they have a causal relationship to success. Looks, he did this, this, and this this summer after picking cantaloupes and throwing them 50 yards into bins all day. And the book says if he does them all.... Super Bowl. Lots of QBs work just as hard, come in early, stay late, talk the talk,.... and then suck royally.

Ever been to Buffalo?

Having this conversation here is like having any rational conversation here. Forget it.

Mine came this week. So they're still coming.

I'd take this tact when drafting and signing free agents and have maintained over and over on this board: you employee intelligent (mentally and emotionally) people who work hard and are committed to the team beyond their own stats. Guys like McCoy and Dareus (currently in the news) are wasted investments of time, energy, and capital resources. McCoy is undoubtedly talented but is the risk of dragging the team, its players, owners, and fans through the mud worth a few more yards than the guy who gets you similar stats but packaged in a better human being? Is it worth the money to have them suspended? Dareus was loved around these parts and his transgression chalked up to excuses. BS. He was an immature punk who had role models in his life and in that locker room who he refused to listen to. Guy was a loser. Is a loser. Always will be a loser. What did this team get from McCoy, Henry, Lynch, and McGahee other than headaches? And what did we get from seemingly less talented players like Jackson? Character flags are no go in my book. If there is one collective thing I love about McBeane its their commitment to culture and character. I firmly believe it's why Watkins was traded (he of the 10 target demand) and Darby was traded (he of the lying to the league, apparently) to cover for another scum bag (Winston). It's why Dareus is gone. It's why McCoy hopefully is gone. It's why Rosen wasn;t their pick. It's what cost talented QBs like Cutler and Leaf (no questioning the talent) their careers... immaturity and stupidity. Give me Fred Jacksons and Lorenzo Alexanders all day. If you're sticking up for McCoy's act, making excuses at every turn because of your fanboydom, you lack that emotional intelligence too - the ability to separate a skill from the character of the (in)human that possesses it.
