Trade TO to a Team That Can Actually Use Him!
zonabb replied to BuffaloBob's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I hope he stays and flames away. He's got the guts to say WTF is wrong, unlike the other Jonesian Kool-Aid drinkers like Evans. Someone made a good point in the radio the other day... Evans continues to refuse to run the tough routes over the middle and put himself in a position to get smacked to make a play a la Hines Ward. So it's time we start slamming Lee Evans for being a puzzy and unwilling to do whatever it takes to make plays. He loves JP because JP whipped it downfield and kept LE from taking any hits. Face it, LE is the biggest waste of $9+ mil in this league. Overrated, underskilled and weak. -
Dude, Buffalo media towards TO is pissin me off

I hope he goes postal! -
Thank you. Amen. Gracias. DJ is a joke. When they punted dowqn 10 late, I went out side to plant some grass, telling my wife that when I come back in, it'll be 17-7 because the defense had given everything it had and sure enough, 17-7 when I got back in.
-
You're suffering from chronic rectal cranial inversion. DJ can't coach, he continues to get owned by and make the worst calls in the NFL today. Don't blame TE (I'm not a huge fan) or AVP. You have to have a personality and a commitment to win and to take it to other teams. DJ and his cast of UFL-skilled coaches are conservative and get beat week in and week out. Make a commitment to get the ball down field right off the ba to show teams how it's gonne be, not do it in desparation in the 4th quarter when you're down. That's what pukes who should have been fired last year do.
-
Belicheat, Sporano and Ryan go for it because aggressive teams play to win, DJ sucks so he punted only to lose by 20.
-
After they get beat by Miami.
-
I wanted him fired last year after missing the playoffs after going 4-0 but today is the end of my rope. Just threw all the rest of my tickets on craigslist for sale and will re-appear at the stadium named after the cheapskate as soon as they fire this loser. Third and long screen passes don't win games. Winning teams are aggressive and force their players and philosphy on the opposition, not "take what the defense gives them." D played great today but I wouldn't pizz on DJ and his offense if it was on fire in the stadium parking lot.
-
Problem with this team is the "take what they give us" conservative approach on offense. DJ and his assistants believe in trying to work within an oppoising team's defense every week instead oif having an offensive identity and philosophy and forcing the defense to respond. The mere definition of offense if the exact opposite of the team's approach. Watching the Jets today, I saw a team who has an offensive approach and philosphy and they want to establish it and force the other team to respond to them, be it in the running game or the passing game, where Shottenheimer commits to getting the ball to his playmakers. Juaron commits to 5 yard pass across the middle on 3rd and 23. That's a loser's approach. He came here with a defensive mentality and with that comes an conservative offensive approach, which we're choking on despite quality wideouts, a decent running game and decent TEs. They refuse to say "We're throwing the ball to TO and Lee and you have to find a way to stop it." DJ = France

Can't the Bills ever avoid the injury bug?
zonabb replied to billsfreak's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Said it on this board many times... since Rusty Jones left, this team has had a lot of muscle and ligament injuries. Sure broken bones are not really strength related but the muscle and ligament issues can be argued to be reduced through better conditioning and strength training. -
Not much worse than the last two MNF jokes. Losers.

Remember, continuity is a good thing.
zonabb replied to LIBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So continually having the same problems is good? Our defense still can't get off the field on 3rd downs. The Oline still is a major weakness. We still can't find a good coaching staff. We still can't find a good QB. Yeah, CONTINUALLY having these problems is great. -
I thought he just tweaked his back this week? First game of the year against the Titans I thought walker looked fat, out of shape and huffing anf puffing in his few plays. He has the body and skill for a ride-sider, certainly not a LT. I think they still suck on the OL and putting Walker back at RT and Bell at LT is in no way going to hurt them. Walker is NOT a LT nor will he get better. Bell has a chance to improve so why waste time with Walker at LT when you know that what you have is all you'll ever have?

Bears 7th Round Pick Derek Kinder
zonabb replied to fast22freddy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Having some close ties myself to that high school league, I know when he was playing, there were some pretty disturbing whispers about some of his "personal" relationships. -
I'm actually more worried about the out of shape LT who was huffing and puffing on the first series. Therefore, I hope Bell works out and can slide to LT and get Walker back at RT because I think he's going to be a problem. Bad condition + not wanting to be there = trouble.

Wonderlic Scores Of NFL Players Are They Valid Predictors?
zonabb replied to Steely Dan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've posted on this many times in regard to QBs only. My opinion and the stats bear it out is that it's only a valid predictor in QBs when you consider QBs who've won a SB in say the last 20 years (more available Wonderlic scores). Basically, without having the data with me here, QBs who have won SBs have Wonderlic scores in the 20s and above. There may be an exception (Favre maybe?) but by and large, the Steve Youngs, Troy Aikmans, Tom Bradys, Mannings et al are higher scoring QBs than those who've been drafted with high expectation but low Wonderlics. To me with the QB it comes down to the a combination of average or above physical tools and a high Wonderlic. If you get a Vince Young or Jeff George with sick physical tools and poor scores, they're not SB winners. That's not my opinion, it's fact. Sure, you have high scoring QBs who never win SBs, but a lot of that can be laid at poor teams, poor coaching and the law of averages, ie: only one QB wins it all every year. So from a drafting standpoint, my opinion has been for many years, that using a draft pick on a physically gifted mental midget at QB never pans out. You're better off gambling on a brainy, average physically skilled Big Ten QB in the 6th round! -
Official Tailgate X ticket exchange thread
zonabb replied to Just Jack's topic in TBD Annual Tailgate (TBDAHOT)'s Topics
Looking for 4-6 for the opener if anyone has extras. Have friends coming up who moved out of state and are past Tailgate Opener attendees. Prefer upper deck visitors side but beggars can't be choosers! Drop me a PM. -
So he can take a boat to Toronto for the game this year and all 8 games next year!

Not surprisingly, Bills tickets are lowest priced
zonabb replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As I've said on this subject previously, if the secondary market can get higher prices than the Bills can, they should raise their prices NOW. That $90 price quoted in the story is $20 higher than the highest priced seat (not a club or suite seat) and that's on average. So that means that even if every seat sold was $70 seat, there was $20 in profit that Bills could get and it's likely higher average per seat since more cheaper seats are sold because scalpers and brokers bought what was available and that's usually cheaper upper deck and end zone seats typically in the $45-$65 range. Bottomline: RW was in favor of the state changing it's scalping laws and what it has done is stolen the Bills ability to raise ticket prices and reap the rewards. Now, the secondary market has raised ticket prices and through just have that opportunity have reaped profits from the Bills being a valuable commodity. RW = moron -
The main reason the Bills will leave the Buffalo area....
zonabb replied to SKOOBY's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As someone who had season tickets the last couple years and as someone who works in the development field, I think there is plenty of money here to support this team. They don't need everyone in WNY, all 1.2 milloin of us, to be independently wealthy, they need 70,000 to be in good shape and a handful of viable businesses. RW's problem is he refuses to raise the prices to see what the market will bear when in fact, most would agree not only that they're cheap but that they'd pay more. Even more, with the advent of Stubhub and other brokerages that have no problem get much higher prices for tickets, it would seem that this region can pay more. Is a 16th row seat on the 50 yeard line behind the Bills bench for a MNF a $70 ticket while a Sabres ticket for a meaningless game in December on a Thursday sells for more? You can't tell me that we can't and we won't. RW's idea is simple: continue to talk down the region to attract an out of state buyer willing to pay a higher price because he feels he needs to move it, which puts more money in the greedy curmudgeon's family's pockets. I'm hoping he gets booed as loudly as possible at the HOF ceremony. I know 4 people who are going that are hoping that RW is inducted last and Bruce right before it so they can all walk out proudly in their Bills jerseys before RW's induction! -
That's the difference between, say having a blowhard opinion on a meaingless fan forum, and conducting actual research that proves or disproves a theory or belief, which is what statistical analysis and academia do. They take perception and find the reality. Don't assume because YOU think something is so, that data and an actual scientific analysis will back your own opinion as FACT. I guess when a GED is your highest education attainment (it means achievement, look it up) that means you think that opinion and fact are in fact the same thing. Get some Bill James book and hone up your understanding of statistics (not the ones on the back of your football card collection, those are descriptive statistics), I mean inferential statistics. Nothing that drives me nuts more is someone undereducated moron slamming something that has science behind because they don't understand the science. Sucks when GM shuts down, we get the board overloaded with idiots.

Ticket Sales, the Economy and Fan Disillusionment...
zonabb replied to Kipers Hair's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
People seem to be missing arguably the most important fact regarding the explosive growth in season tickets over the last couple years: NYS's new pro-scalping law. When the state passed a law basically making scalping legal, and the advent of sites like Stubhub, it made for easy re-sale of tickets and I would bet and would love the Bills to reveal how many of the new season ticket holders are from zip codes outside WNY and what the average number of tickets per account. I would bet the percent of non-WNY accounts is up, as are the average number of tickets per account, both indicates that the secondary ticket market is driving season ticket sales high. Also as a result, I would bet that more people who buy a few games per year have gone to season tickets to ensure they get seats as the people who buy seasons also gobble up prime games like the home opener and MNF, leaving the non-season ticket holders no seats. I'm a perfect example, I had seats the previous 3 season because of the inability to get 2 or 3 games a year (I averages about 3 games a season). So I went to seasons. But I don't have them anymore for one simple reason: losing and cheapness. My entertainment dollars should go for entertainment, which I can get for $25 in the parking lot before the game and skip the game entirely! What irks me about the scalping market is that if a lot of people are buying seats well above face value for single games, does it not indicate that this region can absorb a higher priced ticket and allow the team to make and spend more money on a quality product? And further more, RWS was in favor, stupidly, the new scalping law which essentailly has allowed brokers and scalpers to profit from the Bills. If anyone should profit from high ticket prices, it should be the Bills, not some guy in LA with the time to sell tickets on Stubhub or Craigslist. -
Nothing in this situation favors Peters and his agent. 1. He's still under contract for apparently two more years. In the world I live in, that means you have ZERO leverage. Sure, he can ask for a trade or a raise but he's not entitled to it. 2. He held out last year and go nowhere. They've proven they're willing to play hardball, so where is his leverage on this. 3. In good faith, realizing he's underpaid, they apparently offered him a deal. They didn't have to, see No. 1 above. 4. He's not the best LT in football nor should he be paid like he is. If he exhibited the same good faith last year as a player that the Bills are now in offering to renegotiate, he'd have been paid buy now. No one knows what the Bills would have offered last year because he never came to camp to negotiate so you can't say he's better off because he's going to get more. I'm not sure how potentially last year and two more years under his current salary make that a win-win? 5 Comparing Long to Peters is an easy comparison since it helps your point. But it's wrong. First round draft picks are paid based on potential and their draft slot. Just because the Dolphins needed a LT and drafted one firts overall doesn't make him the best in the league nor does it or should it set the LT salary bar at his salary. Owners and players alike have stated that the salaries paid to drafted first rounders is a joke and needs to be dealt with. So don't for one instance thing teh Bills or any other team thinks that what Long got is the going rate for LTs/. 6. By not signing a current offering and floating the idea out there that they're 3 mil apart, the agent has done what for his client? Walked away from a very reasonable offer and potentially left his client open to 2 more years (and the potential for injury or decline in play) under the current contract. He's got two options: 1. Take the best offer the Bills give him while he's still healthy and can still be great and ask for a 7 year deal or so and shoot for $10 mil per. That'd make $70 large if he made it that long. 2. Play the final two years for his $6 mil total, hope and pray you don't get injured or regress, and his free agency at 29 with about 5 years left. Pace is shot at 33 and Ogden retired at 34. Under either scenario I bet he'd end up with very similar total dollars over the next 7 season barring injury or a decline in play. However, the onus is on him and his agent to get a deal done now to INSURE against injury and get him that signing bonus and higher annual salary. Now is the time for him to get his last big and best deal. 27 is an athletes prime physical age (scientifically proven). But to think his agent is doing this right is wrong, the agent knows he needs to get a better deal done and sooner rather than later. They're in the hot seat, not the driver's seat. What incentive do the Bills have to trade a $3 mil LT who's a top 5-10 at his position that they have under contract for tow more seasons? ZERO. This is a business for them too. By the way, I love the lead in to this thread where the author goes with the "belittle and demean" card on his intended audiance (something about irrational fans) as a way to pathetically lend credibility to himself while trying to paint everyone else as moronic. That's weak and transparent and deperate.

Do yourself a favor and find the last 10 or so QBs to win a Super Bowl and then the QBs who were busts. You will find that although high Wonderlics are no guarantee of success (its is more attributed to there only being 1 SB winning QB every year) low scores are an almost certain guarantee of no success. So although a high Wonderlic QB is no guarantee you'll win a Super Bowl, a low Wonderlic is a guarantee you won't. I looked it up a while back and lost the file, but the info is out there. I think the test is more critical to positions on the field where high level decision-making is critical and less critical for say RB who run more on instinct than smarts. As for JP, the story is that he had 2 scores, one around 15 or 16 and the other as noted here. He was coached after the first to get his score up. Happens often. Discounting the Wonderlic is laughable. If the test is so meaningless, why are the kids from real academic institutions the ones that typically score highest and the ones from places like say Miami, the ones scoring lowest? If it was a meaningless examine, they'd stop using it.
