Steelers @ Ravens playoff game thread (no Bills stuff please)
Livinginthepast replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall
Seeing him get run down on that play was sad. The Wilson from 10 years ago would have easily escaped that guy. -

For all his flaws, Wilson can still throw a beautiful rainbow pass. -

That idiotic TD at the end of the half now looms large. -

Wow nothing like whiffing on an easy sack of Jackson. Absolute idiots on the Steeler defense. -

It was a push off and he didnt need to do it. A bit marginal call and the DB sold it big time. -

Pittsburgh DC and Tomlin appear to be morons. They are surprised by Jackson's running ability. -

Thats the kind of follow through hit they have to make on Jackson. A few more of those and his passing and running will start to suffer. -

Pathetic coverage by the Steelers there. No pass rush. Receiver was wide open. -

Steelers have got to punish Lamar when he runs. Already they have fallen for several play fakes and they soft tackle him. -

I agree, the guy has always been solid and why the Bills never went after him is a little disappointing. -

Absolutely unbelievable that an NFL kicker tries to volleyball that blocked PAT as if he doesnt know the rule. That reminded me of this epic fail in the SB. Before my time but an NFL Films favorite: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mfswgvcP-Ug -
I was in Costa Rica during all of the 1999 season. It was hard to watch the NFL unless you could get to a good American sports bar in the San Jose area (and there weren't that many of those). The place where I lived (Alajuela) had no places to watch the NFL. So catching the Bills (which I had done religiously every week since September 1979 ) was a bit tricky. I did see a few games and was stoked that the Bills were headed to the playoffs. But that season Flutie got figured out and the honeymoon with him as an effective QB was on the rocks. Anyway the first week of January 2000 I scheduled a side trip for a few days to Guatemala. I toured around various really cool places and on the Friday I got to Antigua, Guatemala. I was relieved to find a great American sports bar right near the main square and went there the next day to watch the game. The bar was filled with fans of other NFL teams (zero Bills Fans) who viewed this matchup with mostly indifference. There were a bunch of active Bills haters in the bar which was quite irritating. I was stunned to see Rob Johnson starting as I had seen no pregame buildup. The first half was excruciating to watch as RJ got pressured and sacked numerous times. He was an outright embarrassment in that first half. With the Bills down at the half I can remember Steve Young saying during the break that Wade had to put Flutie in now. Instead we got RJ again. To his credit RJ was much better in the 2nd half and he did enough to win. When Christie kicked that FG with 20 seconds left I erupted with cheers in the bar. It was so great to let all those Aholes in the bar laughing at the Bills know. Then the "miracle" happened. The place went nuts and I just stared at the TV screen in disbelief. It was deja vu to wide right where I also just couldnt believe what had just happened. I looked for a flag, surely that was a forward pass. Meanwhile the place is rocking with excitement at the play and I have sunk down with my head on the table. The Bills had done it to me again! A knife to the heart which was twisted! Hard to believe 25 years have passed!

Looks like Brady won't return as a FOX analyst for 2025
Livinginthepast replied to Gregg's topic in The Stadium Wall
He was insufferable at the start and never shut up. He has good insights but they are ruined by the constant babbling. That being said, I noticed this less and less as the season wore on. So I guess he improved. -
Deshaun Watson suffers 2nd achillies rupture
Livinginthepast replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
What are the chances that Watson feels bad for screwing over the Browns with his absurd contract and lack of availability to play? Yes probably wishful thinking that he even slightly cares. If he had the slightest shred of accountability he would cut the Browns a deal and retire. What a disaster! -
Broncos at Bills Sunday 1pm (confirmed)
Livinginthepast replied to Just Jack's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think this game will be more difficult than the Bills are anticipating and they cannot take the Broncos lightly. Payton is a savvy coach and the game last year with a declining Wilson and a great game plan was able to defeat us. That to me is my big worry. McD has shown several times in the past 7 years that he can come up with a brilliant game plan that the team executes to perfection, the Pats playoff blowout is a good example. But what scares me is when this coaching staff comes up with a dud like the Cincy playoff game. So which version of McD is going to show up on Sunday? -
Bills red zone efficiency— 72%
Livinginthepast replied to Miyagi-Do Karate's topic in The Stadium Wall
The only way the Bills win the SB is if this offense keeps rolling. We dont have a defense this year that gets stops on 3rd down, let alone 3 and outs. The defense though is surprisingly good at getting INTs and recovering fumbles (Near the top on INTs and #1 for fumble recoveries). We are middle of the pack for most other stats. But we are playing the big boys now and we need to be almost flawless. It will be excruciating to watch if our defense dies by a thousand cuts in their soft zone against good teams. I would love for our defensive coaches to try and mix it up with the schemes in these games. I would also love to see our pass rush come together to force these good playoff Qbs into some bad decisions. -
Kelly was done at that point. The only reason we still had confidence in the team was that even an almost washed Jim Kelly was still superior to most Qbs in the league at that point. But in retrospect, all the signs were there. This was the only Bills playoff game I have ever been to. My friends I was with were enjoying copious beverages in the pregame but I had to take it easy being the driver. I do remember the sickening realization when Kelly was injured and fumbled (which was not a fumble) that they were going to lose. TBH they had this game and all the momentum and couldn't close it out. It was a terrible drive home in silence after that game!

Harbaugh: “Flowers injury not season ending”
Livinginthepast replied to Big Blitz's topic in The Stadium Wall
I had some hope that the Steelers could upset them but the last 2 weeks, the Steelers have looked brutal. That end of the game vs the Bengals was an exercise in bad decision making and coaching. -
Who Starts At Safety In The Playoffs?
Livinginthepast replied to stlbills13's topic in The Stadium Wall
You may be right. We desperately need a big play guy on defense to replace the lost playmaking of Poyer, Hyde and Milano. Hamlin definitely isnt that guy but the problem is I dont think Bishop is either. -
The NFL is a league of 2nd and 3rd chances for Coaches who should have never gotten a first chance.

Tyrod getting us to the playoffs and overcoming the massive disrespect of being benched by McD for Nathan Peterman (who threw 5 picks) was a feat! I will always have a soft spot for him!
