Pass interference and they still get a TD on this useless defense. -

One of the worst defensive responses of the year from the Bills. If the Bills Dbs would turn around in coverage, they would have two INTs on that drive. If the Bills defenders could learn how to tackle at even a high school level we would be pitching a shutout so far. -

Funny how they showed the great play from 2019 playoff game. Pleasant memories of an innovative OC. Night and Day compared to the current garbage. -

Great question. I'm guessing nobody. But the refs have to feel relevant. -

The Bills seem to have a decent red zone defense (at least I think the stats show that). I think the reason is that the field is so compressed that the usual soft zone of 5 yards is cut down to 2 -3 yards. The line is more stacked as well. -

Bills run defense and tackling are pathetic. -
I think that we would still have a tough time with Burrow if we were fully healthy in the secondary and playing man defense. The key to neutralizing him would be consistent pressure. He wasnt really mobile before and after a turf toe he must be even less. If he has time to throw, we will be dissected.
-
If we never play Burrow again it will be too soon. Ive never seen a QB that we match up worse against (at least with McD's soft zone defense and weak pass rush). He has looked like a surgeon against us just slicing us up effortlessly. The playoff loss, the regular season loss and even the start of the Hamlin game, Burrow was just moving with ease through our defense. We might have beaten him had we got pass the Chiefs in the 13 seconds game as he hadnt quite got to the elite level yet, but we never got the chance. Since Burrow came to the NFL we have never figured out how to confuse him or neutralize him. He seems to read our defense easily like an early reading book for kids.

Gruden Explains an NFL Sideline Sheet
Livinginthepast replied to Scott7975's topic in The Stadium Wall
Sometimes I wonder if Brady's is written on a napkin? 1. Run 2 Run 3. Run 4. Touche push 5.Pass to someone whos open 6. Lateral slant pass 7. If nobody is open, QB runs. 8. See #1 -
Early in the McD era when we had these national games, McD and his coaches came up with really solid gameplans. The Thanksgiving day beatdown of the Cowboys was a great example. Lately though, the plans have been a little hit or miss. I really hope that we start strong on both sides of the ball and McD really focuses on his game management. The last game against Houston last year where he gave away the game by passing 3 times and not killing the clock then going for prevent D when the Texans got the ball back (resulting in an easy completion that put them in FG range and won them the game) was 2nd only to 13 seconds for the dumbest coaching of the McD era. We just cant afford to lose this game.

A Few Thoughts about the Bucs Game - Community Edition
Livinginthepast replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
I agree, but the beef I have with McD is that he keeps playing the defense as if we have no injuries. He also sometimes sticks stubbornly with the same schemes that dont work, then finally abandons them when things are dire. Maybe he hopes that the backups and kids we have playing can handle things but we've seen ample evidence especially in the last 2 weeks that is not the case. I just wish he would simplify things or mix it up with some disguised defenses because we cannot have Josh bail us out every week. -
A Few Thoughts about the Bucs Game - Community Edition
Livinginthepast replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
This is the bizarre thing about McD, he takes over the defensive playcalling when things get bad for his DCs, sometimes it works and sometimes its its takes a while but eventually works then other times its embarrassing. This seems to happen with regularity so what is the point of Babich exactly? If he is so incapable that helicopter dad McD has to take over for him then why is he the DC?. Maybe we should get a seasoned proven DC in here and revamp this defense? Someone better than Babich and McD? -
How good was Ray Davis on KRs Sunday?!!!
Livinginthepast replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall
He provided 3 great drive starts for us on those returns. That part of our game has been sadly lacking for us. And we almost got a block from our special teams unit as well if it wasnt for a bogus holding call. That little extra boost from the STs was one of the keys to victory. -
Josh Allen doing Josh Allen things, and why we need it
Livinginthepast replied to Ray Stonada's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yesterday was yet another example (if you seriously needed one) that we will win with Josh and it will be despite the coaches, both Brady and McD. Brady was better at times yesterday but as the OP states, the game plan on offense has been erratic this season. What's also happened in the losses this season and even yesterday is that McD and Babbich take forever to get their sht together on defense. Sure the talent isnt there, we are fielding some old and slow players and several key players are injured but put the people we have into a better position to win. Over and over again we are getting gashed on the run and there was no answer. In fact it was because we kept scoring on offense that the Bucs finally abandoned the run because they were running out of time, no because of McD's adjustments. There didnt seem to be a spy on Mayfield at the start. I think this might have been corrected later on but why not? Pass rush was going nowhere at the start as well and then eventually getting through. The Blitzes we do are just too predictable. Imagine if we had a solid innovative defense that confused teams and crushed their spirit early or a took the shackles off Josh on offense. We would be killing these teams and easily the #1 seed. -
To me its like the Bills run a defense that is inappropriate to the current personnel they have. The zone is consistently too far off receivers because the Bills dbs are just not instinctive and too old and slow in White and Poyer. McD seems to be still imagining that we have 2020 Poyer, Hyde and White. Our pass rush is non existent because of injuries but it never seems to disguise what they are doing so the blitzes are just neutralized time and again. The tackling continues to a severe problem. I really cannot explain that one. All in all they really need some sort of reset. Very hard to do mid season.

Should we look to trade Keon after this season?
Livinginthepast replied to GreggTX's topic in The Stadium Wall
The way this is playing out, they obviously have had some issues with Keon for a while. This makes you wonder if Beane dangled him at the tradeline. If not, he should have. -
What a farce this virtual measuring is . The problem has always been the incompetence of the spot which they could have improved with the chip in the football combined with the video of where the player is down. Of course the NFL screwed this up and then provided the illusion that they were improving things. That Bronco player had the first down there easily and the refs did their best to help the Chiefs.

One of the weirdest Bills games of the Allen era. I actually expected us to do better with Coleman out and we did! Shavers was excellent. Davis really contributed but the Shakir stat was really unexpected.
