Seven things I learned from last night...

One question about the final drive...
Livinginthepast replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That crew couldn't do anything right. They botched every situation. I am surprised that they didn't wear their uniforms inside out or put their underwear on over their pants. Totally unacceptable. The Bills and Pats should be complaining to the league office about these boneheads! -
Mike Pereira: Bills should have had one more play
Livinginthepast replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I reviewed this play over and over on my DVR in slow mo. The ref that calls the holding was at the top of the screen. He calls the holding on Graham? even though he is obscured by Gronk. If you watch it Gronk doesn't seem to be held because he moves at regular speed on his route. In addition he throws the flag real early even though the "contact" (whatever it is) is within 5yds. It was a really chincy call. Graham doesn't impede Gronk at all. And they didn't show a clear replay of it at the time. Even though it was a huge play for the Bills D! -
One of the most incompetent attempts at officiating I have seen in 36 years of watching football. What followed though was even more bizarre, They screwed up and then tried to make it right by saying the whistle blew when the ball was caught. Total BS then the penalty on Rex for what exactly? Ridiculous amateur garbage!!!

How bad is Bills coaching???
Livinginthepast replied to Dragonborn10's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is the problem. QBs today don't have either the confidence or intelligence to think on their feet. If the headset signals get fouled up they are helpless. Taylor should have just gone with his gut on that play. If he screwed up then own the mistake. Instead he looks to the sideline and time is wasted lip reading. Can you imagine Kelly, Montana, Bradshaw or Staubach doing that? They were leaders that thought on their feet. The OCs are not on the field. They don't even appear to be intelligent in their play choices. Its so stupid. The technology has made the QBs completely dependent. -
How do these guys get jobs as OCs over and over? You dont hand it off 5yds back to try and gain 1yd!! Bring in someone else to do a sneak if you are worried about Tyrod but for FFS do a sneak!!

Phone # to the league office
Livinginthepast replied to Estelle Getty's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I watched the so called "holding" over and over again on that play. There wasnt any at all. Of course it was a huge play and MNF didnt show any replay. The refs were amateurish tonight. It was really embarrassing. -
Big game players rise to the occassion. Leodis is a big game choker. He has proved it way too many times.

I was debating this with a friend. Is the Pats dubious victory last night going to be a wake up call for them not to get complacent or will it further galvanize their invincibility complex in their minds and leave them open to an upset? I hate them so much that I cannot sort out which might have been better for us. I still hate to see the Giants play a pretty solid game and the Pats still win with their usual BS luck and help from he refs! But will the game last night alter anything with the Pats about their prep for us? Can we exploit anything ? Coughlin seems to always have the Giants prepared for the Pats, can Rex study his gameplan?
-
I will say this . If OBJ pulls the ball into his chest we are not having this discussion. Why in the hell the bonehead decides to hold it out after the catch is the most mystifying part of the sequence. Great talent but not the sharpest knife in the drawer!
-
The Mike Pereira comment is hilariously stupid. "He has to maintain control of the ball long enough to become a runner after getting the second foot down". No he f'ing doesn't! The catch is made, the feet are down, he's in the end zone. The play is over! TD!! How many years of the NFL's history would this have been a TD and now because of idiots in the league office it isn't? The stupidity of the rule is breathtaking, just like the tuck rule.
-
I dont think that play was an INT but Beckham's was a TD. He caught the Ball touched the two feet in bounds because he is in the end zone its an instant TD. However the NFL rules are plain stupid. You saw it with the playoffs last year. So whatever illogical BS the refs want to cite from the rule book to explain how a catch isn't a catch doesn't make it not a catch I the real world. Heres another thing, if that was Brady to Gronk and the same things happen. Do you think theres a snowflakes chance in hell they overturn the TD call?? Total BS!!

Bills v jests first half game thread

Fitzpatrick looks worse than I have ever seen him. No touch whatsoever! -
I live in Southern Ontario and watch a ton of CFL as well as NFL games. One rule innovation from 2014 season that seems to work is that pass interference is a challengeable penalty in the CFL. Coaches can challenge a bad pass interference call as well as challenge that a call should have been made but wasn't. At first I thought it wouldn't work and sometimes even upon review the refs and the command centre don't get it right but most of the time bad calls are overturned and bad non calls are instigated. It works and if the NFL didn't have its heads so far up its posteriors in regards to how to run the game they should be considering it as well!!. A rule change like this would have overturned that horrendous call on Robey.

Phantom call on Robey =Royally Screwed in England

That might be the worst phantom call I have ever seen in any NFL game!! Of course it goes against us! -

Why in the hell do you run a pass on 4th and 1 with EJ? Pure stupidity. -
Do you feel different about the Colts win?
Livinginthepast replied to Stads's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Colts and Luck look awful last week and last night. In addition they looked terrible in the AFC championship game. I still give the Bills full value for the win and their game plan in wk1. -
N.E.-hate, MIA-hate, NYJ-like?
Livinginthepast replied to r00tabaga's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I dont hate the Jets and never really have. Miami hate is fading since Marino/Schula but was briefly revived with Jimmy Johnson. NE is a different story. Cant stand them and their success, their luck, their cheating, their getting away with cheating, their whining about getting caught for cheating, their running up the score etc etc etc. I also found myself rooting for Fitz last night but as I watched the game the same old pros and cons were on display. Wish him well though! -
Rex Ryan - The mouth that roared
Livinginthepast replied to Freddie's Dead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What disappointed me about Rex yesterday was not the talking before the game or even the fact that his team appeared to be out of control with the pent up aggression leading to penalties. What disappointed me is that just like many of the coaches we have had before, he didnt or couldn't make adjustments in the game plan once things appeared to be going south. The D looked great on the first drive stop but did not have any answers for most of the rest of the game (with the exception of the fumble and forced fumble). Why can't coaches make adjustments in game or at half? I would have expected Rex to do that. If the pass rush was failing to get to Brady, then load up with the DBs for a series. At least try something different. I really expected more adjustments in real time on D and by Roman in the offense. Is this too much to ask? -

The only thing worse than a phantom or bogus penalty call is not seeing a single replay of these calls!!! Seriously CBS so far this is crap TV coverage. How many cameras do you have there? -
-
The worst thing about the game is that most undeserving team catches the luckiest break. I mean do the Pats need luck? Isnt there some karma in the world?? Sure it was a great play by the DB but if Wilson throws that ball on the receiver's back arm instead of leading him, he scores a TD, instead the cheaters get another SB title. They also let Bellichick off the hook for his incompetence at time management at the end there. What in the hell was Bellichick thinking not calling timeouts to save some time for Brady to get the ball back after the inevitable TD? I would have so loved for the genius coach to be called out for being a "deer in the headlights" in the aftermath of what should have been a Seattle victory. Lastly, that INT hands Brady the MVP even though he threw 2 awful INTs in that game. Sure Brady threw 4 TDs but it wasnt a vintage Brady perfomance and he has been too obnoxious these past few years. All of these horrible outcomes could have been avoided had somebody with the Seahawks coaching staff made a better decision on the type of pass play or hell just gone for a quick QB sneak.
