Gaming Nerds Will Surely Never Get Laid Now!
BringBackFergy replied to ExiledInIllinois's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I read a similar article yesterday. "The US Army Corps of Engineers has introduced a new fragrance line called "Gatekeeper Body Wash". The new product line was brought to market in response to private citizens demands for a better smelling government workforce. They will slowly spread this aroma into other markets including car fresheners, lockmaster towers and will include the aroma in the air bubbler systems allowing all lock and canal users to enjoy the fragrance as they wait for transit through the inland waters of the Upper Mississippi Valley. According to the manufacturer, the US government spent $6.97 billion dollars on market studies and research to pinpoint the exact aroma that will put boaters at ease. The press release for this one-of-a-kind bodywash states "Gatekeeper will give our workers a better ability to stay awake while commanding the upper deck of the lock tower. The product has an earthy aroma with hints of peat moss, non-toxic hydraulic fluid and actual river pebbles that were dredged from the canal. In addition, each bottle has 1.4 ounces of asian carp liver oil which provides our workers with a slight sheen and better digestive habits". -
Thanks for that Chandler. I can appreciate your take on this because, as you said, @Gugny nips at our heels all the time. Seriously - I’ve seen a lot of stats on jaw pressure etc., but not nearly as many (any?) stories of people/children being “mauled to death” or taken down and unable to stop ripping/tearing of a German Shepherd or Rott. Sure those big dogs will bite when provoked and you’ll suffer a large puncture wound or loss of flesh, but haven’t heard of those breeds (or Chihuahua, Labs, Goldens, Poodles, Schnauzers, etc) taking people down and continuing the attack after the one bite. That’s what leads many of us to believe the Pit Bull breed has a hair trigger that leads them to not only “bite once” but take their target down and finish the job. It seems in the above news stories, they don’t know when to stop and are too vicious for others to come in and help the victim during such an attack. I’m glad your daughter has two good Pits. As with anything, these stories are exceptions to the rule. You could use a PB or two on the Wall. Keep those bass boaters in line!!

I love ya’ GoBills but I have to distinguish the small toy breeds from the PB’s I’m referring to. I said it above and stand by it - there are daschunds, toy poodles and Collies (even Rotts) that bite someone and they walk home with a puncture hole and some bleeding. Pit Bulls go the extra mile and tear flesh, shake their heads and take people down to inflict vicious harm. It’s not trained (See the story above where young woman was mauled in the woods. Not just a simple bite or two...but death). Pretty rare to hear of a toy poodle doing that to a woman. Even if I owned two of them, I’d drop kick them into the hedgerow. Pit Bulls may be calm and docile at home, but when interacting outside the home with others, if they strike it’s tough to stop them (from what I read and heard ).

Agree. If these dogs just punctured a thigh or bit a hand, shoot, that happens with many dogs. But with PB’s, they take it to another level when blood is drawn. It becomes a challenge for them to take the victim down and silence it’s screams. The more the person cries for help, the more ferocious they seem to get (as evidenced by 70 year old woman story above); either that or she had a meatloaf sandwich in her front pocket. Shame on her.

Sorry to hear this. And we all know other breeds can do the same...but it seems PB attacks are not only more prevalent, but more vicious in that they “finish the job” more so than just one bite. Here’s another story (with the typical defense of PB included...i.e. they are not inherently aggressive/fighting dogs). Beautiful young woman mauled by her “puppies”. Sad. https://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2017/12/17/571460563/virginia-woman-mauled-to-death-by-her-pit-bulls-during-walk-in-woods-says-sherif

That's not a bad idea. At least it's a start. If someone really wants to adopt one (or TWO!!!), they should demonstrate how they will be controlled, trained, supervised, exercised, fed, etc. I've read too many stories about their "vicious propensities" relating to adults to walk up to one...I can only imagine what they can do to a little 3 year old girl or boy.

https://wnyt.com/news/pit-bull-attack-3-year-old-girl-schenectady/5376111/ I know I’ll take a lot of flack from some members here, but Pit Bulls seem to be the most popular breed committing these types of atrocious attacks. And I get it: it’s not necessarily the dog’s fault. The owner typically has something to do with the aggressive tendencies. But this breed has a crossed wire in it’s genetic makeup somewhere that needs attention. It’s rare for a golden retriever, yellow lab, pug or an assortment of other breeds to commit this type of unprovoked attack. This girl was sitting on her grandmother’s lap and yanked to the ground suffering major leg and nerve injuries. Here’s the other problem: this ***** owned not one, but TWO pit bulls. Double the aggressiveness huh? Battling for food? Battling for attention. So when the kid gets yanked to the ground, they fight over the little girl. Less of a chance to separate them. I read a story about a young woman who left her TWO pit bulls with her uncle for a few months, came back to visit them and walked them in the woods. They later found her mangled body in the woods with the pit bulls near by. There’s a couple with two pit bulls behind my building. The pit bulls are in a 10x10 cage and just basically stay out there all day. If they ever get out they are 30 feet from the main sidewalk used by young kids to walk to school. Scary. Like I said, some of you guys are responsible owners and would certainly pass a background check. But this breed needs better monitoring or should, perhaps, be discontinued altogether. The genetic makeup must be all screwed up to have these types of incidents arise as often as they do. JMO

When I first read JW’s material years ago I could sense his journalistic integrity and professionalism. He expressed concerns re. Rex Ryan’s coaching, hiring practices, stories re. The future of the Bills franchise upon the passing of RWJ, and other well written articles. I imagined him as one of those “old school” reporters who didn’t rely on a laptop or cassette recorder to note the story/interview. He’d take notes in pen on (shorthand) on a small paper notebook I pictured him as a 1940’s beat journalist wearing a plaid sport jacket, a wide striped tie, a shirt with mustard stains because he eats hot dogs on-the-go, and a black fedora hat with a small white placard that says “PRESS”. I had the pleasure of meeting JW at a tailgate last year....and that image was confirmed. He’s not a shill. The guy writes a good story. Y’all need to relax. We have bigger fish to fry, such as: What the hell is wrong with Dawson Knox??!!

WR techniques... is it really science?
BringBackFergy replied to MakeBuffaloGreatAgain's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thanks for the shout out. My days of playing the WR position are behind me (yes, I had a short three year stint with the London Monarchs and the Toronto Args back in the 90’s) but I still travel to various locations for private workouts and scouting. One attribute the OP didn’t touch upon is what we (scouts/coaches) refer to as “breakout inertia ratio” or focused speed vs controlled limb coordination. Arms and legs need to move with flexibility but also with a rigid strength that allows inertia to break past the secondary. The longer the limb when compared to shorter CB’s and faster limb extension will permit greater completions of 50/50 balls. That’s why we usually don’t just measure a WR’s fingers and hands but his toes as well. Having longer toes allows the WR candidate to grip the turf better for sharper cuts thus increasing his breakout inertia ratio and limb coordination. I’ll revisit this thread later but feel free to ask questions anytime. -

Teacher asks the kids what they did during summer vacation. Little Joey said “I picked up litter and mowed my neighbor’s lawn for free.” Little Suzy said “I baked cookies and sold them then donated the proceeds to the Homeless Shelter”. Little @Cripple Creek raised his hand and the teacher asked him “What did you do this past summer CC?” @Cripple Creek proudly said “ -

The last sentence indicates during this Phase 3 “players are allowed to wear helmets”; the accompanying picture above shows Matt Barkley wearing a helmet during last week’s Phase 2. Looks like we’re in for a fine from the league. Can anyone explain this? -
