  1. care to make a wager on that one? Midway through 1997, we lost both starting ILBs in one week to injury...both Spielman and Covington. They made a switch during the week to a 4-3 making John Holocek the starting MLB and inserting Sean Moran in at DT next to Ted Washington. They retained that as the base defense until week 3 of the 1998 season when they felt Sam Cowart was too good to sit the bench
  2. Your facts are out of date. Jauron WAS working for $1.5M per year. According to Vic Carucci, Jauron's present deal pays him a little more than $3M per year. And before anyone asks for a link, he reported it on 97Rock a few weeks ago (there was a podcast of the interview available for about a week after that) and then again on Channel 7 WKBW
  3. thing to remember is....a player who does well in one system can stink in another. Couple of cases in point: John Parella....looked like a bust here in our 3-4 and wound up having a solid career in the 4-3 in San Diego Bryce Paup...a monster in the 3-4 but disappeared when we switched to a 4-3 Regarding Leonard, I didn't think he was much more than average in Buffalo...of course that's about the level I'd have placed Ko Simpson at before his injury as well...and obviously below average since coming back.
  4. and I love when people have nothing to add to the discussion other than smart-ass remarks
  5. uhhh...he doesn't work at Channel 4...he's been at WGRZ Channel 2 for 15 years now
  6. outstanding post but I will say that Ralph had nothing to do with the hirings of Williams or Mularkey. He gave Donahoe the title of President and gave him full reign in coaching and player decisions until late in 2005 when Donahoe's attitude became a black mark on the franchise
  7. Best way to deal with a troll http://www.stadiumwall.com/index.php?act=u...e&uid=11072
  8. I'm guessing you've been in a cave since the whole Toronto initiative was announced. The whole reason for it is to coax corporations to spend more money on the Bills with luxury boxes and club seating. The thought is that if the corporate guys who buy those high-priced tix like the game experience, they'll buy luxury boxes at the Ralph. Of course they neglected the fact that the game experience in Toronto blows chunks as opposed to the experience in Orchard Park
  9. Actually, the week after the Saints game was the game that Flutie fumbled away the game ..and the QB switch the following year was Wade's call. No reliable news source has ever offered any proof that Ralph told him to make the switch...only that he was in favor of it
  10. only by prima donnas who don't know what they're talking about
  11. The no-punt game was in 1992
  12. Definitely...but not this year. I think you'd have almost as many people there to jeer Ralph as there would be to cheer Bruce
  13. I don't see why not. The stadium gets little usage from January to July. Even if a miracle happened and we went deep into the playoffs, that's still February to July...or even mid August...6-7 months is plenty of time to get a lot of work done. Hell, they got a lot done in the offseason following the 1998 season when they made the last batch of upgrades. Upgrading the current stadium makes a lot more sense in the long run, anyway. I don't recall exactly how much that last batch of upgrades cost, but I know it was less than $50M. But for arguments sake, let's say it was for $50M. If we put $50M worth of upgrades into the stadium every 10 years, it would take 160 years for it to reach the $800M it would cost for a new stadium entirely. If we put up a new $800M stadium, is it going to last 160 years without upgrades? I don't see it...especially since the talk is about replacing a stadium that's only about 36 years old
  14. apparently you missed the point of my post....besides the fact that my post clearly argues against the idea of a new stadium...as far as restaurants around the stadium, there ARE a bunch around it already
  15. tax money for tickets as well as money to restaurants right near the stadium all stays in Erie County, NY (after the state gets their share of the tax money, of course) Putting in a stadium in Niagara Falls moves that money out of Erie County into Niagara County...it does keep it in NYS, at least. If Giants stadium were in NYS instead of NJ, maybe we wouldn't have the budget deficit we do now because more money would be going to NYS as opposed to NJ Anyway, as has been stated, where's the money for this new stadium going to come from? We have a perfectly good stadium already standing that's bought and paid for (could use a few restroom upgrades, maybe) and is getting money put into it on a yearly basis by the state and local governments as it is.
  16. Orchard Park is a suburb of Buffalo that's not only close enough, but it's in the same state
  17. Feet, yeah....brain? not hardly. When you have a WR wide open downfield, you throw the ball to him...you don't tuck it and run. We had a lot of drives stall because of his stupid plays like that in 1999...drives that would've been TDs
  18. I think of Fantastic Four myself...they've confined themselves to the Baxter Building and Johnny's on his way to the couch watching XGames and has a container of Jiffy Pop in his hand that is popping as he's sitting down
  19. Of course, the fact that we had the #1 defense in the league had nothing to do with those playoff runs
  20. 1...the old timers do go out to Hawaii for the Pro Bowl as it is 2...how the hell do you combine something when it's in Hawaii but the HoF is in Canton, OH? And no, you can't move the Hall of Fame
  21. well said...I haven't been on board for as long as you have but I'm in the same boat. I don't buy into the notion that Ralph doesn't care...I just think his opinions are different than those of the fans as a whole. As far as Ralph not doing anything to ensure that the Bills remain here...we don't know that and we won't know that til after he passes away. He's not required to tell us everything and considering the confidence that Kelly has shown in the past about the Bills remaining here, I have to think that maybe Ralph HAS done something to ensure that the Bills would stay...but who wants to talk about what's going to happen after they die?
  22. ok..that's just freaky..I hadn't even thought about Blade...I have 1 of the DVD's in my changer...was watching it a month or so ago
  23. It's settled http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/articl...R3hjsAD95E5H780
  24. He's kept it quiet about who's involved in the group because of other ventures that some of them are involved in
  25. thank you for showing us that inbreeding still happens
