I dont agree!! When you send 5 out for a pass the defense can sent 6 at the QB and the offense only has 5 to block. So, 1 pass rusher will be unblocked and none of the other pass rushers cant be doubled up on. so, in the end the CBs wont have to hold coverage for long. Teams that cant run the ball will still have a problem winning.
The 5 wides are nothing new anyway.

He will test the market as he should. I am sure the deal the Bills are offering is not big and another team might be willing to step up for him. If I were him I would want to see what other teams are offering. I thought the Bills should have tried to make a deal with him early last season when they may have had a chance of tying him up at a good deal.

Lets face it, we all here have liked Fred Jackson for a long time but who thought he was going to do what he has the past couple of years. Spiller would be a hands down started on many other teams in the NFL.

Greatest concern is Bell. 1 complete year out of 4. Draft Martin if he's there!
And Wood has finished 1 out of 3 years, so maybe a center should be drafted too.
-
So how much did Joe make while playing football? What were his salaries compared to the average worker?
-
In the terms of risk reward Merriman is a good deal. If he can get healthy he can be a total game changer. Remember preseason? As long as Buddy isnt taking chances on average guys Im happy.
-
If they can sign D bell on the cheep that would be best. Use the first 2 picks on a pass rusher and a wr who start week 1! Hairston was a good pick a little later and looked ok for a rookie, he should be better this year with the experience and a real off-season this year.
Glaring needs over small ones.

2 good backs is a good problem.

The O-line was adequate last season. The pass rush cost us games. Guess what I would do?

Most likely a radio announcer said he thought the Bills will not extent. I hate stories like this, my friend does this all the time. If a broadcaster says they think something might happen he tell me its confirmed fact. The OP must be related to my friend.

The beauty of picking 10th is that the Bills have enough needs that they should be able to draft a player who can make a DIFFERENCE right away. Picking a tackle at 10 does not guarantee that we will see a difference in tackle play. We had 2 lts that did a pretty good job. We need your first round guy to be an upgrade week one. So, if they can get a reasonable deal done with Bell they should.

Went from the 3rd worse team in the league to the 10th worse with the injury bug, thats forward progress. Without the injures I dont think we would have dominated but would have won a couple more games and not looked pathetic in a couple others.
I understand the idea of building through the draft but I believe that this year if they draft well and take advantage of free-agency the Bills could be a quality team.

Great!! I dont understand why some people are mad that he was signed. If the staff thinks they have better options he will be cut. It think it might be time for some fans to find a new team to root for.

I just hope that Fred is not unrealistic on his value!!
-
Whats worse trading him or over paying him. I am sue he will want top nfl rb money, if so let his agent broker a trade deal that will give the bills a low first or high second pick. If he is worth the big bucks he should be worth a good draft pick. As much as I like Fred I dont want to see a stupid extension deal.

The game is only blacked out in Buffalo. How many people do you think missed the game? Not enough to lose money. Most of us watched it on the Sunday Ticket. With the money the networks are paying, including DirecTV I don't think anyone is losing money.
Rochester is blacked out and I believe Syracuse is also.

There is a reason espn made this

I get the idea that excuses are getting old but it is a reality. The team started the year short on talent and no depth. Many of the experts predicted the Bills to be within the worse 2 or 3 teams in the league and made to mention that many key players would be out for the season. So, in some ways the team has over achieved. That said the bills will need a good draft class and at least a couple of free agent pickups to be in a position where a few injuries wont cause the team to collapse next year.
No one has mentioned the loss of Chandler over the last couple of games. I think his production was missed big time last week!!

I don't think it's fair to call Johnson fat and slow. He's a Defensive Tackle playing OLB. I never understood putting him out there.
Because he is their best option. Give the coaches a little credit, they study the game film and grade every player on every play. If batten gave them the best chance to win he would be starting. This is a team that started the season very thin on talent and now 7 starters or so are out for the season. We could see the big beer guy in uniform before the season is up. What pisses me off is that there was no plan B for Meriman.

Couldn't have Aaron Maybin played this role at the very worst? At least we would have known 100% without a shadow of a doubt if the kid could play or not after a full season of "real" in game snaps.
That's what I don't get. You keep and overpay and overplay (starting) an expensive, grossly overpaid vet but cut a disappointing yet unproven high 1st round draft pick with little NFL experience.
Your kidding right?? Maybin gets knocked on his can with chip blocks by RBs. If Kelsay played for the Jets you would be bitching that the front office is is stupid for letting a good player go.
-
Too many other need that could be addressed to help the team right away. The lack of a pass rush is 100 times more damaging to the team than Fitzs play. But, I am all for trying the diamond in the ruff QB with a lower round pick.
-
good move... he is solid and not too expensive.
-
He must be good or the Packers would not want to use a roster spot for him. They are heading into the playoffs and they sacrificed depth at another position to keep him. Shows that Chan and Buddy know something!!
What is a #1 WR?

I am not the biggest SJ fan, but its a good thing the we have him signed up. Now Buddy needs to find another quality receiver and a TE (or resign Chandler).
