  1. Wrong on both counts there.

Trent Edwards didn't beat out VY, it was a 1 year contract that expired. Thigpen didn't beat out young either, I'm not sure where you got that idea, however if you had followed this situation in the pre-season you would realize that it's just simple incorrect.

Thigpen didn't even play in the last preseason game, and Gailey himself even said Young has outplayed Thigpen. Jackson was brought in to replace Young as the #2. The only way Thigpen makes the team, is to buy Jackson enough time to get caught up.

Obviously the FO/Coaches think Jackson is better than young, or this wouldn't have happened. My point was that we are just replacing one poor QB, with another poor QB who has no knowledge of our system or any practice time, however it has now costs us draft picks and more money.

considering Young was cut and TT is still on the roster means young was beat out by TT.

  2. Crazy to say why didnt they draft Aaron Hernandez he was taken in the 4th round!! So, every team passed on him 3 times and some 4 times. If the Pats thought he would have turned out so good do you think they would have waited? Not to mention if most other teams had taken him he may not be a star.

When they took Troup they were in desperate need of a interior D line to stop the run. So to take someone at any other position would have been crazy. No reason to think he would have the injury trouble, and when he has been able to play he looked promising. If after the 2 yeas they have had them if they thought he couldnt play he would have been cut not put on IR.

  3. It doesn't matter what the cap is. We also want to sign Byrd and/or Levitre before the end of this season. Why waste 2.5 million dollars on a player you're never going to play, you don't even want, just for a week or two on the team? Has nothing to do with anyone being cheap, just about risk and reward, and spending money wisely or wasting it. It would be WAY different if we didn't owe Thigpen 2.5 million, his entire contract, for that one or two weeks. That's a waste, IMO.

First off all of this is opinion anyway.

QB is the most important position on the team! To worry about signing players next year at the expense of starting the season without a backup QB would be irresponsible.

Yes, it would be great if TJ could come in and learn enough to to play week 1. Then TT could be cut to save the money.

  4. I am glad the FO is willing to do whatever they can to improve the team!! TT, and VY were real bad, now TJ is not a superstar but I would much rather have him than TT or VY. I think this shows that Nix is serious about a playoff run, if Fitz gets hurt jackson has a much better chance of wining than the other 2

I dont think we should cut B. Smith but I would rather use the 3rd QB spot on a a late round developmental guy, looking for the next Tom Brady.

  5. Cut him for what upside, the team is not in cap trouble and they dont have 2 other great future QBs to develop.

He provides depth at WR, a very good special teamer.

Cut him to have another guy standing on the sideline, or keep him and have a guy that contributes in every single game.

  6. I would doubt any of the WR's we cut would get picked up by another team so I think they go with 5 WR's including Smith. This opens up two spots for the OL. I think Brown and Sanders will be added to the OL. If/when injuries occur one of the WR's that gets cut will be available.

Edwards over Heard. Troup to IR.

I could see them carrying only three safeties and five CB's (McGee vs Rogers will be a tough call). Wilson and Byrd start with Wilson being able to move to FS in a pinch. Searcy backs up Wilson. Scott and Aaron Williams are the emergency back-ups.

This allows them to keep an extra LB - Bradham.

good call on the WRs the guys that are the last 2 or 3 are nothing special.

    Agreed.

Bradham is going to be a good one for us. Zero chance he gets cut.

OK if he stays who goes? Tank??

dont think they will keep more than 25 on defense

  7. Honestly, I don't know in what football universe we would be in to have only 7 offensive linemen.

last year they only had 2 reserve ol dress for the game. Remove a WR and add a OL, who is the next WR out?

You're nuts if you think Bradham is getting cut.

    PTR

I am nuts, but with with 25 on defense someone has to go. I would assume that some the the draft picks will be on the PS.

If you have him making it who gets cut in his place?

Again I dont feel I have a special knowledge on who makes the team, but started this thread because I thought it was amazing on how many guys need to be cut.

  8. Would like to see artmalibu edit this post now that Merriman is gone.

Again I dont think that I have special knowledge on the roster cuts, but a lot of players wont be with the team in a few weeks.

  9. Not saying that I can predict the roster but interesting on who could get cut. Starting with the depth chart as of today, cuts in Red.

  10. Kelsay is one of those guys that if he is the "unaccounted for" player would probably shine......but gets average really quick when he is the best defensive end on your team.....

He is in the right situation.....

Very well said. The past 2 years the Bills did not have anyone who resembled a real pass rusher!! He is a solid player on the field, not a superstar but very solid. Not a super pass rusher but does play the run very well!! Its funny because many people act like he is receiving Mario/peppers/Freeney money when is actually he is making 1/3 of what they are. Not to mention that the Bills have not been even close to the salary cap since they signed him to the extension.

    Here is what Buddy said

"The thing you don't want to do is take your core guys and your leaders out of your system," Bills general manager Buddy Nix said Thursday, the first time he commented on Kelsay's extension. "We decided, obviously, that we've got four, five or six guys like that. They maybe are not great players, but good players that set the tone for what you want everybody else to be.

"Chris Kelsay is a good player. He exemplifies what we want players to do and how we want them to be. So that's the reason he's here."

  11. Stupid? OK then let's make a deal. You pay my season ticket invoice for me, and in exchange I'll do my part by staying home and watching commercials on TV. Fair deal?

So you only go to the game because you want to be assured to watch the game? I will throw the BS flag on that!!

I typically go to a few games a year and dont do it to just see the game. I do it for the experience of seeing a game in person, may people dont understand that. But, you being a season ticket holder I bet you would NOT be content watching the game from the couch.

Where are your seats?? might be a good deal for me. Try to buy single game tickets, so where you get to sit.

  12. The stadium capacity has decreased by more than 10% in the last 20 years. With the upcoming renovations, I'd assume it will continue to do so. Besides, there are over 1 million people living in the greater Buffalo area, so it's not as though there isn't enough of a population to support a 70,000 seat stadium

No offense, but it is your choice to live where you do, just as it is your choice to cheer for the team. If you want to see them, you can choose to give up your whole Sunday to do so. Or not. Either way, it's my opinion that the team has no responsibility to show you the game, especially since you live outside the tax district that supports them. Again, no offense intended, as I would be interested in hearing why you feel otherwise.

Strongly disagree. I feel that the notion of non-ticket-buying folks complaining about the blackout rule is a slap in the face to the Bills' fans that buy the tickets. Not to dig at your fandom, but the ticket-holders are the ones that have supported the team with their dollars, not the people that watch them from home.

    ^ This...all of this.

Opinions will vary and I am ok with that.

Take a look at CURRENT stadium capacities and draw your own conclusion

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_current_National_Football_League_stadiums

New York state tax dollars are going to a privet business period. To show or not to show the game on TV biased on ticket sales, makes no sense to me. Many people in the "tax district" may not have the health to sit in the cold or the money to buy the tickets and parking, might have to work part of day etc, etc.

As far as the season ticket holders feeling that they are somehow bigger supporters dollars wise is just stupid. Its my understanding that much more profit comes from TV money than stadium money. Am I wrong.

  13. The black out is BS when you think about how much of out tax dollars go into stadium maintenance and upgrades. The SMALL MARKET stuff is a bunch of crap too!!! If the Bills are a small market they should have a SMALL stadium to match. At 73,000 seats its 10,000 seats bigger than the smallest 6-7 stadiums.

I live on the east side of Rochester and for me to go to a game its an 11-12 hour deal, not to mention the additional 3 hours of driving a person in Syracuse would have. Not always a reasonable for us family guys to do. Also consider amount of who cares games that have been played in the back half of the season and the typical WEATHER that is in December.

If the Bills dont lower the blackout to 90% of capacity (which would sell out several other stadiums) it is a slap in the face to the loyal fans who have who have stuck with this team through a lot of crap years.
