Being a top 3 team in scoring. Does it matter how we do it?
artmalibu replied to PrimeTime101's topic in The Stadium Wall
Thats lame.... My stance on big swings on D is unchanged. But I dont claim to be smarter than the GM just speculated why they did not do what you think is best. I didnt say he sucks I just posted his stats and contract. I bet you quit your job years ago and now are siting back rich as hell after winning all the fantasy leagues.... -

So you dont know... I saw it reported he wanted to play in a warm weather, Pitt is not warm but Buffalo has had games relocated due to snow, players having a hard time making it to the stadium due to snow and practices canceled due to snow. Every time I hear an interview of players asking what they know about buffalo the first thing they say "its cold there" So we dont know if the guy would have signed here, unless you know something you arnt telling us. Maybe Bean shares my opinion Maybe Bean does not want to give up draft capital and a top 4 WR contract in the league to a guy that finished last year at; 39th in receptions 25 in yards 50th in TDs 51st in 1st downs 79th in YAC -

Once again you are obviously smarter than Bean... To be the devils advocate how do you know Bean didnt make a play for DK? Maybe he didnt want to ply in Buffalo. -

Its clear by your statements that you think Bean has done a poor job. I think he has been quite successful. I believe the offense has been good enough the last several years, and the defense has been the letdown. I would like to see them prioritize fixing their weakness where you want them to add to their strength. -

Dam the Bills ownership really screwed up, they should have hired you to be the GM. -

Dk is good for sure, and would love to have him. But, the average of 30 million a year average many have made it that Benford could not have been signed. And the 2nd in the trade for DK that we are hoping will turn into a starter/contributor while being on a rookie contract. The 20 points scored against the Texans should have been enough to win or at least take it to overtime. Defensive let downs that game, and scoring 40 points in the Rams game to lose kept the Bills out of the #1 seed. The Bills didnt get to play in the Super Bowl because the Defense let the Chiefs score more points than they did in any other game. The biggest problem of the 2024 season was not due to the WR position. Remember the topic of this thread "Being a top 3 team in scoring. Does it matter how we do it?" My answer is NO. The Bills Offense was #2 in the whole league in scoring points while the Defense was #7 in the AFC alone in points allowed. I guess the differences in our opinions is where the Bills concentrate their available resources. -

Sad that you reference last October, I remember how the Bills defense allowed the Texans to pass for over 110 yards over their average for the year. But, thats not too bad since Jax was the only team to give up more passing yards than the Bills. I do have to ask, who do you think the Bills should have gotten at WR this offseason? -

I think you are posting in the wrong forum... This is a football forum, not a fantasy football forum. I get your mad that they didnt make big swings on WRs who are almost making QB money. To say JA had to play a perfect season is nuts, his rating and completion % went down. He played great just like the last several seasons. They did not have that sexy WRs you so desire, but JA got to play behind the best line of his carrier. But I know linemen are not drafted in fantasy football. The lack of super star WRs was not the problem last year. The Bills scored 40 points to lose a game. In the AFC title game the Chiefs scored more points than any other of their 20 games of the season. -

It seems that I read the post you quoted a little differently than you did. Chase would have helped the team have more total yards at the end of the year, but the bills other receivers would have had 600-800 less yards. In 2024 the Bills did not have a #1 after getting rid of Diggs and that caused a 30 million cap hit. That sounds like a recipe for disaster but passing yards compared to the rest of the league showed they only dropped 2 spots from 2023 to 2024 on 60 less attempts. Their average yard per catch went UP. Add to that in 2024 they basically took week 18 off where in 2023 it was pedal to the metal and Josh threw for 359 yards. If they could have parted ways with Diggs with out the 30 million cap hit and used the money to beef up the defense we would have watched you Bills in the Super Bowl. The everyone eats plan really didnt backfire when considering that the Bills were #2 in the league in scoring without a #1 WR. JA was asked to throw and run less. And 2 of the pass catchers that they were counting on in Kincade and Samual each came up short likely due to injury. -

I think you missed the point. Chase would get a lot of yards but that would mean less targets and yards for the other players. In other words Chase would would get 1000 + yards but the team would not have a total of 1000+ more yards. -
I would like to see 2 DT and a CB the first 3 picks. I have read its a great DT class and thin on WRs. But t the end of the day I hope they dont overdraft regardless of position.
-
Cooper would have to be real cheep. To fill the last WR spot I would rather see a later draft pick, past PS player, or an undrafted free agent in hopes of catching lightning in a bottle. The resources are really needed on the defense. It was tough to watch the Bills score 40 points in a game to loose...

No, the Bills best outside receiver had less yards than Palmer. The Chargers best receiver had 300 more yards than the Bills best WR and their #2 guy was only 100 yard short of the Bills best. So the Chargers had a better WR group than the Bills. To talk about Johnston like that is lame. When he was drafted he was not considered a polished ready pro, but a guy with desirable traits to develop. His yards jumped a good bit (nearly double) in year 2 while having almost twice as many TDs than any Bills WR. If Johnston did not show the year 2 improvement, Palmer would have had better stats and the Chargers would have probably tried to keep him.
-
If he plays a 17 game season it looks likely, he missed 6 games one year and 2 another and was with in 80 yards. He is likely to be a bigger part of the plan with the Bills considering the other outside receivers they have. I mentioned nothing about TDs because the Bills run the ball in the red zone , they had 3 more than any other team last year. Your comparison to Rousseau is idiotic!!! The 2 other guys needed 25 games to get to 660 yards. So, yea I would rather have Palmer this year than run it back with the 2 other guys.
-
The last 3 years he had 769, 581, 584 so it looks likely to me...
-
Could be the same reason the Colts traded us Jerry Hughes.....
-
This guy may not have had great production in the past, but his win rate against man is very good. The Bills WRs are not good at beating man. Teams could line up in man and crowd the box and take away the run and send more presser after 17. This singing is about scheme, he is a piece of the puzzle that the Bills dont otherwise have.
-
Or drafting a the back of the 1st round its harder to land a stud, so rarely getting a bust is a good thing...
-
I bet the nay sayers here drafted Kincade on their fantasy team and had a bad year.... Likely the same folks who lite up the forum with the cut Brown BS.
-
The team scored the 2nd most points in the league, Allen was down 600 yards over the year before. The #1 receiver only had 821 yards. So, throwing the ball around was not the plan. He was the 3rd most productive pass catcher on the team after missing almost a quarter of the season, and playing several games hurt. Im excited to see what he will do in 2025!!
-
Over the last 2 years Laporta has 500 more yards in 4 more games on a team that throws the ball more. Kincaid holds the Bills franchise record for most receptions by a rookie and was held back in year 2 by an injury. One guy is a "straight up weapon" and the other is a dud?
-
It seems that not many TEs are great in their first few years. Last year the Bills were a run heavy team, the player missed several games with injury and was not right the rest of the season. At the end of the day if the team has a reliable 6 yard play guy I will take it....
-
Maybe not a sexy pickup but looks like the right fit. If he can beat man coverage like they say he can its a big win since that seemed to be missing. I like this pickup because the D needs the real help imo. DK cost a 2nd round pick and 30 million a year. So, they can use the 18 million and the 2nd to get the help the D needs. The offense scored the 2nd most points in the league and in theory this guy can provide the needed help on game day.
