I think GM/Beane deserves a stand alone spot. So much of the frustration yesterday is just not having enough talent at a number of position groups and allocations of resources.
-
I think Allen doesn’t really care about the sideline stuff. They can get over that. But I do think saying “we just have to be there for each other” is a swipe at a guy who has refused to be around the last 21 hours.

He is nearing 30 with a top 5 QB. There is nowhere for him to go unless he decides to sign a new contract for a lot less money to go to one of the 3 or 4 teams that might be better than Buffalo. The Bengals can afford him but they have to pay Burrow and sign their guys. The Giants and Ravens can afford him but have major question marks at QB. So where is he going to go to not “waste away?”

Coaches blew the game but Diggs pulled the pin on a grenade, walked away and left his team/QB to clean up the aftermath.

Not to mention that emotionally screaming at somebody when you’re frustrated is the opposite of alpha. It’s reactionary and loss of control. I commend Josh for staying in control.

Saffold said guys were "exhausted" this week and "out of gas"

My entire outlook on the season shifted once Damar lay breathless/lifeless on the field. Don’t love the loss. Hate the way it happened. I still have the same criticisms of this FO as I did 10 weeks ago. -
Diggs is one of the most targeted WR in the league. Sure there are some missed opportunities, but at scale it’s unrealistic to really target him significantly more than we already are. He should have stayed with his team post game. Shame on him.

Von Miller is fine. My issue isn't with him. My issue is with the FO and the idea of him We have drafted 6 players in the top 100 who were supposed to disrupt the QB. Next year we will have 5 of those draft picks still on the roster plus $20M on Von only to result in a mediocre pass rush. Miller was never going to live up to the height or carry the weight of piling bad roster decisions. Making the same mistake at the same position group 2x per draft for 3-4 years plus another $20M AAV can absolutely burry a franchise....and here we are....

Aside from the 17 year drought and all the winning we have been doing the past few years, the fact that the Sabres have been playing embarrassing hockey 11 of the last 12 years under Pegula gives me major pause when it comes to the changing of any guard. Things could get as bad as it has ever been for this franchise.

So what is the first coach or domino to fall?

Josh asked for Dorsey, Beasley, and Brown by name as well as jobs for Gentry and Barkley. I don’t mind going to your star QB for input but given the result of this season, it’s likely too far. -
I agree. I also put some more weight on Allen this year since he signed his extension. Once you sign on the dotted line to be the man, you have lose a lot of opportunity to upgrade your supporting cast with the expectation you carry a heavier load. This was a cap clearing year for KC. The fact that they hit on all 10 or 11 draft picks will be an issue for the entire league going forward. Cincinnati actually has some benefit in Burrows ACL injury. It allowed them to go out and get Chase. All that said. We need to protect our QB at this point and put him in a position to hold the ball and put up points. Where did you see that? I can’t find it reported anywhere. But found a number of reports that he was knocked out of the game.
-
I think Tre retires. Just what my gut says. He talked a lot about being more than just football during his ACL. Then seemed extra shook by Hamlin’s resuscitation even amongst his peers. Now a concussion to take him out to the season? I won’t blame the guy. He is my favorite Bill. But I think we could have a hole at CB1.
-
I actually think there is a good chance White hangs it up after the Hamlin incident. Plus his second concussion today. Love the dude and wish him well. But that’s what my guys telling me. So basically, look forward to another CB.

We likely cannot pay Hines and/or Singletary. So buckle up.

That will also allow us to use any additional roster spots up which gives any of our developmental WR’s the opportunity to try and clear waivers. Which keeps the 7 days between games pretty exciting. .

I've come to accept our offensive scheme relies on Allen too much

Part of the issue is that Allen also puts some of this weight on his own shoulders. It’s like him and Dorsey are just trying to do this all by themselves. Both Dorsey and Allen have to be better at getting Allen to release the ball as soon as he hits the top of his drop. Would it kill them to put him behind center when we are throwing the ball every once in a while. I think we likely stay the course with Dorsey. But if Miami were to move on from McDaniels, I wouldn’t hesitate to pull the trigger at OC. -
I wish we got Knox involved more both today and all season. For all the pressure we saw I’m not sure there was a single ball thrown to Cook either. This staff has been rumbling about pass catching WR for 5-6 years and never throws them the ball anyways. It is stuff like that that makes me have a bit of distrust in McBeane even though I want to believe.
-
We have something like 23 UFA and are $10M over the cap next year. We’ll have to borrow from the future just to put a team on the field next year. This staff will have to hit on their top 100 picks and get them starting immediately next year.
-
Hot take: Frank Reich hasn’t stuck around anywhere long enough for me to trust whether or not he’s a very good OC. 2 bad years in SD. One year out of the playoffs in Philly then another year with Foles. He wasn’t the issue in Indy. But also a lot of those decisions fall on him…

I think there’s an underlying assumption here that when Josh makes a wow throw it’s because that’s the throw he has to make. I’ll have to rewatch this game, but in the all-22’s I’ve watched this season that isn’t the case. I think Dorsey and Allen are too similar and too aggressive of a pairing. I think he needs harder coaching to get him to operate not just in the confines of the play, but within the limits of the down, distance, series, and game. -
Josh has had issues with zone all year. He’s near the bottom of the league. I thought he had some weird responses post game. Granted a tough loss and a lot of emotions. But he couldn’t give one example of one thing they struggled with when asked a couple of times. I thought it was odd. Your brute force analogy makes sense. Allen was Lamar’ed a bit last week. He’ll have to get better with his eyes and reads going forward.
