Hopkins released by Arizona (7/16: signed by Titans)
Mango replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
I recommend getting the A22 from NFL+. I re-watch every week and I see plays like below over and over. Allen doesn't even look at Shakir to his right who is wide open. He could have hopscotched into the endzone. Instead he thread the needle for a tough throw to Davis. The result is a highlight reel TD. On TV we see that and think "Allen has to put the team on his back. There are only contested throws. Our WR can't get open. Dorsey sucks, why can't he scheme anything". https://imgur.com/a/PG2vZc7 Allen is a generational talent and his talent plus moxy allows him to get away with a lot more than other less talented players in the league. But low percentage plays are still low percentage even if you are better at them than your peers. It has a tendency to stall our offense. We just force the ball down field far too often. Josh almost never lets the ball go at the top of his drop. Sometimes he doesn't see the entire field. Sometimes he wants the bigger play and ignores the easy money. None the less a quicker release and spreading the ball out a lot more will help the run game, OL, and Diggs. This is certainly a nuanced discussion where Dorsey, the OL, and our WR group all need to be better. But it is worth mentioning that that part of the load that Josh carries is weight he unnecessarily puts on his own shoulders. I will be hyped if we somehow navigate signing Hopkins. But we don't "neeeeeeed" Hopkins. Part of the expectation (rightfully) placed on a $40M QB is to do a lot more with a lot less than other QB's in the league. -

I have a super wide breadth for where I think this contract falls. I wouldn't be shocked at $4.5M and I likely wouldn't bat an eye at $8.5M either. He has 29.5 sacks the last 3 years.
-
$1.7M feels light. Are you thinking that's his actual value, or are you just basing that on our cap space? I thought maybe $6-8M.
-
Any idea on contract value?
-
Who are you talking about? I assume Tim Horton, maybe Danny Gare? I don't think either constitute ruining the entire tradition of jersey retirements.

The Bandits are maybe the most fun ticket in town, and that includes the Bills. Once you add up the cost of a Bills ticket, parking, time commitment, plus limping through the next day, the Bandits certainly hold their own. I always have a ton of fun at a reasonable cost.

The Bills unwillingness to spread the ball around and force defenders to cover the entire field is our biggest weakness. Some of that is on Allen. Some is on the staff. If we were more equitable with the football we wouldn’t be hanging so much hope on OBJ, CMC, or Hopkins. It would help the run game as well as hide some of the OL issues. I’m excited about the possibility for Hopkins and Diggs, but having two WR of that caliber hasn’t been what’s holding this team back. -
I don't know man. Baker completed 70% of his passes at OU two years in a row. He might not be a good enough QB when the bullets are flying live at NFL speeds, but I am not going to pretend like lobbing passes to half trotting practice squad tight ends running routes vs air as any indictment. First Pass - Domonique Dafney, TE. Barely employed last year, signed and cut to 3 different PS. In GB for 20 and 21, where he caught 4 passes for 60 yards. Second Pass - Ko Keift, TE. Rookie last year. 6th round pick in 2022. Dressed for 17 games, 7 catches for 80 yards.

Hot take. I think there is a lot of effort across the organization to keep Diggs happy and from blowing a gasket. Diggs is that friend that everybody goes "well, you got to really get to know him". I like the guy, he is certainly talented. But I also think he has the potential to be a liability.

Being in good shape at a reasonable weight at OTA's will not hurt DD no matter how many hoops you try to jump through.

Being in good physical condition with proper body composition is wildly different than peaking.

You can certainly be too drunk to give consent. And yes, I have turned down women who were too drunk to do so. This shouldn't be all that contentious. Any attorney on the planet will agree that you can be charged with sexual assault because somebody people cannot give reasonable consent. You may not like it, but it doesn't make it less true. The idea that a person can withdraw consent at any time shouldn't make you this angry. I don't care if she agreed to a 1000000 person *****. At any moment she can say no, and walk away. The bloodied photos of the girl were disturbing. And reports were from her friends that she immediately told them she was assaulted. Could some of that night been consensual? Sure. Does it mean everything was? No. SDSU certainly made an effort to sweep this under the rug. The story in this article v the statements/recordings given to police a year ago seem to be contradict each other. This one hits home for me, my sister was assaulted in a very similar situation. She got a rape test. She went to the police. And similarly they first wouldn't investigate, and second when they found out who the kid/family was immediately started saying she made things up. She didn't. She was raped. Does that mean Araiza himself raped her? No. Does it mean that the young woman in this story wasn't raped. Absolutely not. I also have a lot of friends in a lot of major athletic departments (Alabama, Texas, Syracuse, Stanford, Cal, Washington, OU) who have a lot of stories of schools dedicating a lot of resources to keeping their football/basketball brand as clean as possible. So forgive me for my cynicism. I didn't think that this was so all that spicy, but here we are.

I think a key to this whole thing from a moral point of view is that the young girl was too drunk to give consent. I know a lot of people in a number of large athletic departments and they all mention this is taught to student athletes all year every year. I think a 17 year old telling multiple people to “eff me now or you’re a *****” likely falls under that category. And as far as the room goes, any person is allowed to pull consent at any time. She has the right while getting double teamed to say no. And if those men don’t, that is assault. My first thought reading the article is that this seems to directly challenge statements made by Araiza himself to the police. I can certainly get behind the fact that everything doesn’t add up from her side. But I also don’t think this article absolves SDSU football or SDSU police what so ever. As far as I am concerned my big take away is something’s don’t add up from Araiza, the young woman, and others. It isn’t that she wasn’t assaulted, it’s that there isn’t enough evidence to move forward.

They aren’t a court of law. They can’t send him to jail. None of us have ever received any due process in any of our jobs. 99% of us are at will employees and can be released at any time. What planet do you live on?

Buffalo Fanatics has a point - Burrow is elite but JA is superior
Mango replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
Love Josh. Him and Burrow are such different players and cut from totally different molds. Difficult to really compare or put one clearly above the other. But one thing I won't do is use 1 road game from 2 years ago and say "SeEeEeE lOoK hOw MuCh BeTteR mY gUy Is". Also, it is super disingenuous to take stats that include Burrow's rookie year where he tore his ACL and his first full season/coming off of a season ending ACL injury, and compare them to Allen's 3rd and more season years. Burrow has 2 full seasons under his belt. 2020 was Allen's 3rd year in the league. I would not trade Burrow straight up for Allen today. But this is silly. -
There are a few that are workable concepts/mascots. The Colts, colt is hung like a horse. Also the what is a poonat and why is it on the Panthers mascot?

The Battle of a lifetime: Klein, Spector, Dodson, Bernard, Williams
Mango replied to NewEra's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think…maybe?…we see some more traditional 4-3 looks instead of the 2LB sets we are used to. I think we may be forced to with Klein and Milano. Williams may start to basically split time with Taron. -

This was my first thought about the TE room last night. -
I don't think we are over invested in the position in the game of football. I do think a top 5 salary and a first is a lot for a team that has not made a commitment to throwing the TE the ball since they took over the team in 2017. I like Kincade., and the pick. I like the idea of lining Knox, Kincade, Cook, Diggs, and Davis on a regular basis. I am cautious about what the Bills will get in return.
-
Huh, I was commenting on the poster who said all Dawson Knox does is block. That was my correction, that Dawson Knox is not primarily a blocker in this offense. What would you like me to get a grip on?
-
Sure, it can. I’d love it to. Id also love for us to throw the ball to the any number of receiving RB’s since McD took over. I say that because it was the same under Daboll. Im not critical of the player or the staff. But we do seem to chase players that fit an idea we never implement. Or at least don’t execute. I do think Josh wants the deep ball so bad he over looks the RB/TE’s. Please don’t throw things at me.
