Hopkins released by Arizona (7/16: signed by Titans)
Mango replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
At this point I’d rather trade for Evans and some draft capital for Diggs. -
Cap = Lie. Diggs is letting people lie without going out and correcting them. If the lying helps the big dog sleep, the big dog can keep telling lies. The second is cryptic. He always posts like that. I think, (THINK) he’s saying he has kept his mouth shut on some things, and is going to start talking. Ion play all them sounds, I think means he’s going to turn his phone on and start dialing/texting/talking?

It will be addition by subtraction. The tough part will be it will cost us some of our own FA’s just due to eating the Diggs contract. We have 29 or 30 FA’s next season. Some notables in terms of snap count are Hyde. Jones, Davis, AJE, Settle, and Lawson. I’m trying to mess around with Spotrac to make anything work. The tough part of moving on now is the 2024 dead cap number of $31M. You can get through this years $13M by also begging Morse and Settle off the roster. But there’s no relief for 2024.

The restructure didn’t affect this years number. It affects the dead cap going forward. I checked earlier not restructuring would have saved something like $6-8M next year.

Maybe he is just wildly embarrassed that his all star basketball game could barely fill a HS gym to 50% capacity? Diggs isn’t the national draw he thinks he is fame wise. I think Gabe Davis is more “famous. Davis is rolling with Jay-Z, Bert Kreicher, Von Miller, and a bunch of other people who are at or near the top of the pop culture and sports pyramid at the moment. Diggs isn’t. Stef is wildly talented. He’s an all pro. But he’s not famous like other players are. It was meant to be was a tongue in cheek joke about Diggs. But it’s also true.

I am just piecing this together with everybody else. But if I had to guess… Allen (Von?) saying they totally support Diggs and what he’s doing is where Diggs takes issue. He doesn’t feel like they have his back in Diggs complaints to getting a seat at the table. I get it to an extent. But also, Diggs abandoned the team when they were down after that game and didn’t show up to locker clean out. From somebody who managed a lot of high level teams I likely wouldn’t have proactively searched his opinion on anything either. I don’t think you can discuss the offseason coaching changes and Diggs involvement without talking about how he behaved after the CIN game.

As this comes together it feels like a lot of credence to the fact that Diggs is pissed about not being consulted internally. And maybe he’s saying Josh saying he supports Stef is a bunch of lies. Which is fair. But not fair enough to cause all those noise the last few months. Also, when you sprint out of the stadium in your pads after a tough loss; then don’t come back for locker clean out day, going off the grid, I certainly understand not going to Stef about much of anything. I assume Josh likely said something similar.

Your franchise QB knows everything going on in the organization. Your WR1 gets consulted on something’s but not everything. While I understand Diggs frustration, he’s also been consulted on which WR enter the WR room, like OBJ and Nuke. Not being treated like a franchise QB is something he is going to have to get used to.

Through all of this, I have some very major issues with Beane for restructuring Diggs. It seems as though he did not do professional due diligence. His restructure makes this impossible to navigate without totally bending over for him. We are stuck in 2023, but the 2024/25 dead and free money would have been something like $6-8M more palatable without the restructure. If we had more space, any space really, I would seriously look at what we could get for him. Especially with the high dead money. He would be cheap for a trade partner. Diggs through 2027 and a low cap number is worth Evans, a first, and probably some change.

Allen specifically referenced mistakes made last season that they are working through. This might be some weird pedantic way of saying that he likes playing football in the Bills offense, so it isn't football related, but he hates doing it for Sean, or Dorsey, or Beane, so in that respect it is personal?
