NFLPA renews call for natural grass on all fields after Rodgers injury
Mango replied to T&C's topic in The Stadium Wall
All the talk of players chipping in is so wildly absurd. Even in employee owned companies and/or companies with stock options, never would an employee take a loss, or lesser income/profit share repave the parking lot or put on a new roof. Crazy talk. -
I don’t know what to tell you man. Trotter filed a report about an allegation somebody else made to his employer. Trotter is saying that his employer didn’t investigate it and instead retaliated. Under those circumstances the language in the report is protected. That seems fair. The issue is with the league. Based on Goodells recent comments that contradict each other by saying they both have looked into this and will look into this to see if it here is any evidence, the leaguer messed up. HR is there to protect the company. Doesn’t sound like they did. Now here we are.

An attorney over an Sabrespace has mentioned a few times that the “quote” from Pegula has immunity. Suits has been trending and now we are all internet lawyers. Can’t wait until @HOUSE starts trending again and we can all trade in our (myself included) internet law degrees for internet medical degrees.
-
I get that to an extent. But what’s up for debate is whether or not the league looked into fully once an official complaint was filed by one of its employees. I don’t know if it’s because Suits is trending again, but everybody is tossing around heresay. I’m no legal professional but I do not believe I need to meet the legal standard for a crime in order to submit an official complaint to my company and also receive an internal investigation. But to your specific point I don’t think if I quoted ann official complaint to my employer it qualifies as defamation. My goal in the original report would be a thorough investigation, but the result is losing my job.* I get it from a Buffalo or Pegula standpoint. But I think it’s unintentionally myopic without much legal standing. HR doesn’t work for the employee they protect the employer. In theory an actual investigation would have put all this to bed. This is HR’s job. My guess is they didn’t do it because that would have provided an official paper trail. But now they likely don’t have much of a paper trail and are stuck in this position and a bit vulnerable to a much larger legal suit. *allegedly (also, again, not a lawyer) I disagree here. What he asserts as facts are that somebody told him this and he filed an official complaint with his employer. He also asserts that the league didn’t thoroughly investigate. He reported heresay to his employer. He admits as much. Which I think (ouch!) is fine. Almost all HR complaints are void of email, video, or audio recordings. Complaints to your employer don’t need to meet the same criteria for a criminal or civil complaint. Just my $0.02

This is a lot of words to say “not a great passer”. Josh will figure out how to sustain success as the front man for an entire franchise or he won’t. I think he will. But becoming a better passer and less erratic is an absolute necessity. He has 35 turnovers in his last 19 games. (365 days) If the only way to not do that is to not play like Brady or whatever you’re insinuating, then I don’t think Josh will ever be capable of not giving the ball away twice per game. And if Josh Allen can’t keep the ball out of the other teams hands twice per game his career will go the direction of Carson Wentz. Josh can do it, but learning to protect himself and the ball isn’t part of the problem it is the only solution.

The way I understand it (not a lawyer) is that he doesn’t have to prove that because that’s not what’s up for debate. What is being argued is that the NFL didn’t follow up on his report to about both this and Jones in 2020. In fact I don’t think Trotter is publicly accusing of Pegula, he’s publicly accusing the league of not even looking into it, and then it costing him his job once he pressed them. I think there’s a flip side here that really annoys me, that if Trotter is correct on his lawsuit, the league is the one who is tearing Pegula down by refusing due diligence to officially clear the situation.

Can we make this a poll? Josh is wildly physically talented. He runs on moxie and physiology. If he doesn’t change that he’ll have a harder career than he should. Favre had bad games and bad years. Maybe that’s Josh. I’ve thought he’d always have some longevity. But Monday night was the first time I’ve thought “maybe he doesn’t”. There is one fact that keeps gnawing at me. His turnover rate of nearly 2 per game in the last 365 is way too high to keep going. It has to be fixed and fixed fast. 35 turnovers in the last 19 games is tragic. Edit: For reference, Mahomes has 18 over the same span.

Great thread. I haven’t had the time to look at the tape myself yet. But I do weekly. Two bullets I have some comments: 1. Josh has often gotten by on overlooking the easy play, first down, or even TD in favor of the splash play. I’ve noticed that often in my A22 reviews he gets a lot of credit for completing amazing passes but overall are should be be critical plays. The Diggs pass seems like a good example. A good result doesn’t equal a good decision. 2. Daboll mentioned forever ago that he doesn’t put Josh behind center because being in shotgun lets him process or see the defense better. I don’t mean to read too much into it, but given point one above I’ve long held onto it that seeing the field is something Josh has struggled with at times.
-
Not just that, but way back when A-22 used to break down plays, series, and drives. So I could at least get close to what I was looking for. Now I have to carve out more time to go through everything. Rewinding and rewatching suck.

There’s nothing to squish. The context is “My colleague told me this. I reported it. Nobody ever followed up with me I asked Goodell about other DEI initiatives. Now I’ve lost my job after being told I’d be getting a new contract”. Trotter isn’t using this to throw Pegs under the bus. He’s saying the league didn’t even bother looking into this or Jerry Jones and bringing it up cost him his job. Which if true, is a big deal for any large corporation. This isn’t a hit piece on Pegula. Or at least not intentionally.

I feel like I’ve seen some things about Shaq Lawson and some of the Bills draft woes. He’s not great but outside of some short stops elsewhere he’s been a productive player for us and keeps finding playing time regardless of who we draft and bring in. Kudos to Shaq.

Thanks to @uticaclubfor the OP and I fully agree with @Success reply about expectations. I do want to add though that even at peak EJ Manuel, JP Losman, or even peak Fitz/Tyrod a 4 (almost 5 with an early whistle) turnover game is an impossible day to have fun as a football fan. Similarly to @Success I’ve tried to relax and enjoy it all this year. I’ve unplugged more this offseason leaning into other sports and the Sabres. I came into yesterday know a loss wouldn’t be the biggest deal, but I had a caveat that we needed to play real NFL football. In the “Keys to Success” I said play the sticks, move the chains, don’t turn the ball over. We did the oppositeS But yesterday was a tough one to swollow in our dumbest years, let alone one with SB aspirations and a very expensive roster.
-
I agree with you in general. But I will also say this. It’s year 6. He signed a 4 year rookie deal, and the team took up his 5th year option plus a big big time extension. This is his first year of his extension (aside from bonus money on the deal). The bar gets raised. Add on the fact that he has been a turnover machine a good portion of his career, and this year he has talked a lot about how he’s never been more focused and is all ball at the moment. The bar gets raised even high. Then the cherry on top is the increased expectations around the team this year with an aging roster looming. The bar goes up again. Allen is great. His expectations are high and higher than most of the league because of performances he put out there to earn it. It I’d be lying if I said he didn’t fall wildly short last night. 4 turnovers for a turnover prone QB is always going to spark embers into flames.

Josh Allen since the KC win last season….22 TD’s and 16 INT’s.

I just saw a tweet from Nick Wright that Allen is averaging about 2 turnovers per game from the start of last season. -

It’s not trashing. It was a bad game. A very bad game with a lot of turn overs for a guy who is prone to a huge amount of turnovers. Talking about our QB averaging 2 turnovers a game for the last 365 days is a very reasonable talking point without you getting all upset about it. -

That isn’t true once you calculate fumbles. https://www.statmuse.com/nfl/ask/most-turnovers-by-a-nfl-player-from-2022-to-2023 -

2. Our starting 5 OL all played 100% of snaps. 40% (2/5) allowing 47% of QB pressures isn’t bonkers. Here is a stat line nobody will want to see. Allen has averaged about 2 turnovers per game since week 1 2022. https://x.com/getnickwright/status/1701425069946220651?s=20 -
To be clear, the accuser for Pegula is an unnamed reporter. Trotters complaint is that the league didn’t do anything to investigate what he heard from Jones and what a colleague says they heard from Pegula. Additionally It sounds like Trotter is trying to say that after filing a complaint with the league and them never responding despite multiple attempts, that his professional life then got harder.
-
My quick take is that those are two different things. My boss telling me not to tell the public anything about a bad thing I know about my company is different than the powers that be contacting me in due diligence. The story for the league is a reputable first hand account of something terrible being said. And the same person saying “hey look into this one too”. In a weird way, if Terry is in fact totally clear here, his involvement in this today is because of league HQ and Jerry Jones.
-
The way I understand it is the suit breaks down as this: - Trotter heard Jerry’s comments directly. - He also has a colleague say he heard Pegula say something similar. - Trotter reports this to the league and nothing ever comes from it. Trotters talking points don’t focus on Pegula. They are about the leagues due diligence, which comes into question because nobody every called him to get specifics about the Jones incident. So how could they have vetted Pegula. As a Bills fan I really dislike this. But as an NFL fan Pegula isn’t the story.

Do the Bills need a " Quarterback Whisperer?"
Mango replied to Returntoglory's topic in The Stadium Wall
Kyle Shanahan. And he wouldn’t be a QB coach, he’d be the head coach. If there was a way to get it done, at just about any cost other than trading away Allen, I’d likely pay it.
