Elam a healthy scratch part deux (now part TRES) (now part QUATRO)
Mango replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall
I am hoping this is maybe the case for a whole host of reasons. But if the dude is a lockdown man corner vs teams like Miami, you would have to expect he gets to at least dress the other Sundays of the year. I think Elam has some upside. I think maybe the Miami game is a good fit to show that. But I am not sure this staff would or should dress a guy they hate to play every other week for the sake of a single game and player who plays weekly. -
The Bills are better out of the spotlight. It is also more fun to be a fan without the expectation. When you expect to be the best team on the planet on Sundays, but you play like the 4th best that day, you have these weird urge to criticize because you fell short. I expected a step back this season. I didn't expect the Jets game, I hated it. But it leveled my expectations for the year, at least out of the gate. I would rather be the 6th ranked team, play great ball in all three phases, and get hot come late December. Without checking with any historical records of preseason polls vs. results that's the way it feels like most teams win championships. (Outside of pundits always picking Brady/Mahomes every year no matter what).

It is just a weird play for me to go "oh yeah, dirty player!". I think Philips has a tendency to toe that line on occasion. I think if they talked about the Rapp hit two weeks ago, that is a reasonable conversation. When I think dirty play or player I think of Gronk on Tre White laying on the ground. Or Suh trying to stomp on a guy laying there. Not a small shove after the throw. Honestly the most egregious thing anybody did in that sequence of events was BS the entire world that Tua just had a back injury, and put him back in the game. I find McDaniels hilarious and a good coach. I have come to liking the guy. But that sequence of events is one of the dirtiest things I have ever seen in the NFL.
-
I guess. But like... have you just tried turning the cap off tho?
-
If that shove was dirty and caused a concussion imagine how pissed they are going to be when they find out that their coaching and medical staff sent him back out there! RIP McDaniels. Time to rebuild I guess...

I am not big into checking other fans message boards. if I do it is generally a sign of respect and a solid match up. I do keep up on Reddit, but reddit sucks for what I like about sports conversations. I checked out Finhaven and it is weird. I have never seen anywhere Milano talked about as a dirty player. Am I crazy on that? The whole thing is weirdly aggressive.

He has no velocity whatsoever. It’s borderline sad.

This feels like a cross over from the “If Daboll is fired…” thread. The answer is yes, bring him in.
-
Measuring first downs feels like the dumbest thing. They walk the chains like 20 yards across the field and then go “short one inch”. Like I was prefer the red puts his face on the ground and eye balled it.

I don’t get what they’re doing. I get they paid him all this money. He’s a top 3 guy. But at some point they’re risking ruining him. Burrow is the only guy who can help dig them out of this. But he can’t do it if they destroy his Achilles and he misses the season. Sit the guy down and let him come back to do what he does when he is healthy.

At some point to have longevity in this league a QB has to be a top flight passer/decision maker and all the other things are in addition to or a value add or addition to.

Hypothetically… Brian Daboll gets the boot….

I think Dorsey is figuring some things out for himself still. Unsure if he’s ever going to be “the man”. But there are some things I like about this offense that I found frustrating under Daboll. For all the “Josh can’t do it all” Daboll asked Josh to…well…it all. -
That’s on Evans. It wasn’t perfect. But that’s still a drop.

Baker is a guy I didn’t like in Cleveland. He just had/has this punchable face. But I find myself rooting for him to find some success and catch on. He seems to be a pretty gritty player who isn’t giving up on his career.

Just in general I think we need to get our TE involved in the passing game more. Just based on snap counts we seem to be running a lot of 2 TE sets. That doesn’t do much good if defenses don’t respect them as an option in the passing game. On a similar note, more plays to possession receivers like Knox, Kincaid, Sherfield, and Shakir would be beneficial. We put a lot of value on the fast and look over the sure handed sometimes.

Stopping the Miami Offense (and Tua the wizard) - Lets hear the ideas.
Mango replied to Chaos's topic in The Stadium Wall
Part of “getting hot” is winning games with extended drives and ended all/as many as possible with points. If the pass rush continues to get home and Allen stays on the field with minimal turnovers and 3 points every time they touch the ball, that should be enough pressure to throw them off balance. -
Not just that. This is suddenly a team that only needs to “do enough” on the offensive side of the ball.

9/24/23 Week 3 GAMEDAY Bills vs Commanders 2nd Half Thread
Mango replied to Freddie's Dead's topic in The Stadium Wall
I’m watching at a bar so I’m admittedly more distracted than at home; I’ll have to rewatch. It seems like we’ve been hitting on a few chunk plays but struggled with maintaining drives. I’d love to be more methodical. Too many 3rd and longs in the first. The defense has had to come out quick after either an offensive 3 and out/quick score. Not sure how sustainable that is. Here’s to no points on Washington’s first drive and a good 6 minute drive with points to open up our first possession. -
They’re averaging 2.8 per carry. Barkley is great. But if he’s the difference between a reasonable run game and embarrassing you didn’t really have a run game to begin with.
-
The run game is 9/25 yards. Terrible.
-
For the most part I’ve thought Josh and Daboll grew together. Some problems were on both. Some improvements were on both. They were great for each other for the time they were together.
-
On replay that was a terrible 3rd down call. There was absolutely zero option to Jones.

This is starting to feel like death by 1000 paper cuts.
