I really don't think this carry 3 vs 4 during preseason is a big deal. Most teams don't carry 4 for the regular season. We are just looking to get through this week, and a possible Kolb replacement. It isn't as though other teams have Brady and 3 Jason Campbell's behind him.

He seemed pretty beaten with very little answers, and a little dear in headlights. It reminded me of chan in the second half of last year. Possible knee jerk reaction on my part, could be over speculating.

Not a starter, but Zebrie Sanders is an FSU guy

I'm not the happiest about this. I thought he might get behind center after Saturday. Although we won't know, practices close to the public after this week. He could end up practicing, but I highly doubt things work that way.

The positives of Kolb's play last night

I think your right about the body language. It just never felt like the offense was going to move, or like anybody on the field thought it would. I never read into this, but the O was sulky and stagnant. I do believe Kolb can fix a lot of these issues with another week with the ones, although he already had a week. We can win with Kolb and the aggressive defense, it just looks like a higher ceiling and more efficient with the young gun -
Not sure if you have heard, but the third pre-season game is the most important. As long as he can practice after the Skins game, he starts. FWIW, my uncle, born and raised Boston (married into the family, we barely except him) watches the Bills games. Thinks he'll start week one and is the real deal. He also said Brady will put on a clinic and then called me a bunch of terrible names. I just tell him 18-1 is my favorite number

The positives of Kolb's play last night

I watched the first half with the intent of finding some middle ground in the posts on TSW. Sadly it is a mostly honest interpretation. Very few bright spots in Kolb's game. That's not to say he can't redeem himself with a good 3 quarters against Wash. It's not good though -
Something to note, Dot practices close this week to the public, or possibly next? We won't get an honest reading of what EJ is doing until after this Sunday. Something to watch is if/when/how Kolb is called the starter. I think he starts bs NE. He is so much more comfortable out there, even in comparison to last week. I can't imagine him not.

Sorry I thought you where commenting on EJ.

The positives of Kolb's play last night

Concurred, the last 2 minutes are better, but he is really out of sync with the receivers, and missing throws. If he can make the 2 minute drill the standard, he can be reasonable. Right now, for a bet, he is missing a lot of yards out there -
I'm watching the replay of the game now for the first time. I have only seen the first half, but I can't imagine that we don't have a QB on the roster that can play better than Kolb's first half. Unless Kolb has a really solid showing vs. Washington, EJ has to be the starter. He gives us the best chance to win, even with mistakes.

The positives of Kolb's play last night

Forgive me, but I am on the couch enjoying some beverages, typing on my phone. I have been trying to dampers excitement for EJ, because this team has hurt me in the past. I also know how hot and cold this board can get on players, so I assumed a bit of that went into the review of Kolb in this game, but it's pretty bad. We seem to be committing to the run game, and it isn't really going anywhere. I think Chan was tremendous at getting Spiller in space. We could use a little but of that now. The guy never finds his receivers, hits nobody in stride, and is doing a bit of staring down of his recievers. It looks like every ball is poorly thrown, he is skipping screen passes. He generally looks very uncomfortable out there. Maybe it's rust, but even in the last 2 minutes of the half, with the 2nd stringers in, finding a rhythm is tough. To be fair, I haven't seen the 2nd half just yet. -
Huh?

The positives of Kolb's play last night

I thought people where exaggerating about Kb's play last night. I am watching the replay now, and I am literally saying to my GF, "if EJ isnt ready for the Pats, I would rather have Fitz"...I mean CHRIST! -
I would expect EJ to split reps with Kolb after week 3, even though Kolb is the starter, as not to distract from the other positional battles, then depending on how Kolb's next outing goes, to name the starter after week 4.

If they keep 7 WR, Brad Smith won't be one, especially if he is 6th in the depth chart. You would be better off developing Rogers or Kaufman there, especially if you are worried about him making it through waivers. Summers could go to PS, and Searcy will make the roster. You only have 52, add one, plus get rid of Summers and Smith, you have a few extra spots for Rogers, Searcy, and Troup

that was my guess. i used to get chronic water on the knee, generally a day of elevation and rest cured it, had it drained a few times when that didn't work. i assume they didnt mention it last night because they thought it was a bump and it would be fine in the am. if it was still swollen this morning, they drain it, otherwise most procedures need swelling to go down to do anything. he would have to sit for a few days, so he wouldn't play this week, then they don't need him for week 4. most likely very minor not sure why people are talking meniscus.
-
i think it is mostly because he is injured
-
he may not get any reps this week. i bet he gets some next week. he is not out of practice
-
I cannot put my finger on it, but the announcement seems out of the blue, so I am hesitant to trust it, or am, at the very least having trouble defending it. I generally always thought the smoke screen talk about or Bills for the past few years where reaches. Buddy and Co. where always honest, which I liked. This coaching staff and FO is much different, which I also like for different reasons. They play everything close to the vest, and give us no real information. I want to say there is something else at play here.

Seems a little odd. I didn't get the game since I am in Buffalo, but their was no mention of a knee during either pressers. Possibly one more opportunity for Kolb? QB Battle basically over? I wouldn't be surprised to see EJ taking snaps after the Vikings game, and dress for pre-season week 4.

So What Would a Successful Season Be For EJ?
Mango replied to DefenseWins's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
-5 Wins or more -Over 55% Completion -More TD's than INT's -
The issue a lot of the time is the O-Line. I was there today, and I commend EJ for the way he hung in the pocket really strong as it collapsed. He made some poor decisions. The int to Gilmore on the bomb down the side line was a heart breaker. Didn't air the ball out too much today. There where a ton of times where a defender was in the backfield uncontested. The defense dominated, and EJ showed tremendous physical talent an poise, while not a ton of vision. I rarely saw him look off a defender. Tuel looked pretty bad today.

not sure whether to post this on r/cringe or r/facepalm?
