Blackouts are stupid. All these cities give either tax breaks or actual public funds to maintain, revamp, or even re build these stadiums. If it is publicly funded in any way, the product has no right to be withheld from the LOCAL population. Especially when it is available through the rest of the country.

Am I the only one questioning this move. Is Pettine not happy with Manziel? Is Manziel the starter, and Hoyer is being moved? This move doesn't make a ton of sense to me for the browns. I get insurance policy, but generally not something you talk about when you have 2 QBs on the roster. In fact if you lost 2, you need more than an insurance policy, you ned a prayer book

The thread seems to have been hijacked, which I don't like, but I will give in and make it worse. Sorry everybody. I am not a grammar nazi, but I do think I have a solid grasp of the language. According to statistics, better than average (that might be sad for the stats). Why can't language evolve. Everything else does, and does so with gusto. Why does language have to play by the rules of the 1500's. Wrong is wrong and right is right, until things evolve, and then we accept that.

I think I found what I was looking for. I am not math whiz. Urban Planning and Sociology degrees. I don't fully understand the stats so if anybody is good at it please explain it like I am 5, seriously. This has CJ, from what I gather to be the 44th most efficient RB in the league. From what I gather CJ has very little success adjusting to the defense, gaining the yards needed, and finding the proper holes. I am making some assumptions in terminology based on the definition of the measurements, but I think I am pretty close. On a play by play basis CJ is operating at about 15% less production than the mean RB in the league. Something that has been hinted at on this board. His per play success rate is listed at 36% with the better (at least more notable) backs in the league operating somewhere between the high 40's to mid/low 50% range. Granted take this with a grain of salt, AP is pretty far down on the list. Although AP is at about 80% effective with his rushing yards, in that a majority of the time he is rushing for gains. Who is it that keeps preaching that we need to "give him the keys" because he is one of the "bright young minds in the NFL"

I was also looking for a stat for number of runs from an RB for a loss or no gain. Something that comes up about CJ a lot. His ability to kill a drive with a 1st and 2nd down run for -3, then 0 yards, that get averaged for the season with his big 20+ yard runs. Anyways couldn't find that stat, but something similar. Football outsiders ranked OL play and factored in runs with no or negative gain, which we haven't seen before. Bills are 16th at run blocking when that is considered. He is also not in during 3rd and long where it is an obvious passing down since he is a liability. He is also not in on 3rd and mid distance where we might audible in or out of a pass because he is a liability. I am not a CJ hater. I think he is a solid talent, but for whatever reason this staff can't use him. He also has one or two major deficiencies that make him a liability in other phases of the game can't/won't hit the hole between the tackles, and pass protection. I want him resigned, but I am also in the camp that he doesn't deserve top 5 money. somewhere around 10. He will want a payday, and some team will most likely give it to him. I am curious, how many QB hits/hurries/sacks is CJ responsible in percentage to passing plays. Also success rate of imperative downs (ie 3rd downs) or passing plays when CJ is on the field. Again not trying to hate, but I think it is interesting data, that may answer a lot of questions or misconceptions, both good and bad, about Spliier

I really liked the play call and the positioning of both the pass and Chandler. I think the issue is that Chandler hasn't been around, so the timing is a little off. We'll run route, well placed ball. Just poor timing is all. Hopefully that gets worked out the next few weeks.

The point I disagree with in terms of 1 2 punch for this team. Hackett doesn't seem to know how to run sweeps, screens, or outside the tackles very well. In a team that did, Spiller would be a feature. For whatever reason, the roster or Hackett cannot execute these well. Therefor Spiller does not work. There is a lot of mention of using Spiller like Reggie Bush. The guy has been bouncing around the league the past few years, and nobody seems to be missing him all that much. Just an idea, don't hurt me too bad guys, but what about a set where we have Boobie and Fred and spiller out wide in an attempt to get him in space via the WR position.

Exactly. The idea that El Pegula have Darcy the rope necessary to hang himself is revisionist. The response I think was to a question about the team being a disaster and what Ted Black's role in it was, as he was hired to be his "hockey" guy. I'm excited about Pegula as the owner of any franchise because it esures long term stability in location and an open check book. But you can't deny that he has had a hand in making every personnel decision for the Sabres. That extends much further than an owner being in the know. I hope with the Bills, since he seems to be a big hockey guy, and less of a football guy, he relinquishes any control over football decisions. It inhibits his abilities to be successful in either franchise.

It's people like the ones you describe that make me think that Bills fans don't deserve nice things. Not an EJ defender, although an easy guy to root for. But the guy played 10 NFL games, and the people with pitch forks running him out of town are incredible. Patience, and the answer will be clear on what the next step is. At that point pick up your pitch forks, but we seem to run anybody/everybody who could develop into something out of the city before they get a chance. The sky is not falling. News flash, Russel Wilson is slightly above average and is carried by the other two phases of his team, and the last time Andrew Luck came out of the draft, his name was Peyton Manning. Finding a HOF QB is hard/almost impossible.

There is a huuuuuuuuuge difference between an elusive QB and what Manziel does, possibly labeled mobile. While a mobile QB is always elusive, elusive QB's aren't even close to always mobile. This is the crux of the argument. Of course avoiding pressure results in more injuries, but being hyper-mobile will result in more. Rothlisberger is actually elusive, not necassarily mobile in that he isn't a take off and run guy, he just buys time. Brees, Rodgers, and Wilson fall into the same category. Although they both can and will, it is opportunistic, not a natural playing style. Within the pocket Brady is one of the most elusive in the NFL. He has a keen ability to sense pressure, and merely side step it. Cam Newton does not play an elusive style, he is mobile, huge difference. He takes off and runs, regularly. Difference with Cam is he is built like almost like a DE or LB. We will see how this treats him down the stretch of his career. Mike Vick is paying for his playing style later in his career, and he even got a reprieve from the NFL for a few years, and still can't hold up. Kaep lands here too. This popular new breed in QB may not last, this is the first time we are seeing such size in mobility in larger numbers at the position. It will be interesting to see how it pans out. The sack rate for QB's is pretty sprawled based on playing style, not a huge favor to either. So if all QBs get sacked at an equal rate regardless of pressure, the mobile QB is setting himself up for a minimum of lets say (guessing) 3 hits per game, 48 per season. So yes their rate of injury will be far greater.

Wade Phillips and Gregg Williams most likely the top two D coordinators in the league. I know Dick Lebeau, will get mentioned. hence I said arguably. That said, if one of the top guys at his job, say top 2 or 3 at what he does in the league. Why would you grab say the 6th best guy? The HC's rely on wins, something Fisher doesn't have many of. Fred also did a terrible job at getting low by the way. He hit the hole pretty hi. They were begging for a read option on both 3rd and 4th down. on one of Andersons runs for a 1st, I think it was his second, and came on a third and mid to long. Hughes set the edge just fine. The LT got way outside the numbers and had a pretty blatant hold. Hughes makes that play without the hold easy. he was right there.

i thought his highlight might have been an incomplete pass. chandler was in really tight coverage, manuel laid the ball out just before he came out of the break where only chandler could catch it. should have been a completion. i think it is just a timing issue since scotty hasnt been around much in tc
