Forget 53 can he cut the team down to 25.
Mango replied to clearwater cadet's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jesus man. Shooting from the hip are we. At 75, the roster is carrying about a third more players than it is allowed. 1 of 3 players will be cut, without taking into account starters that are GARAUNTEED a spot and didn't dress. Most players you saw today will never own another NFL uniform. On another note, which other teams are playing with 2 QB's that have Alden the play book for approximately 4 practices. Only running the ball makes things tough. Objectivity and a level head are obviously are scarce commodity these days. -
WGR: "There's still ... an above average defensive line."

Chris Kelsay, is that you? -
By your own rule of Brady being +5 wins per year, which is actually pretty fair to say. Any team with Brady gets approximately 5 extra wins per season, compared to one without. Their records without him those years are 9-7, 8-8, and 7-9. It is obviously not perfect or exact, nor are those terrible records by Bills standards. Those numbers are average and beatable, which is a HUGE fall from grace, because with Brady they are one of, if not the best team in the NFL

Huh? it is the 4th PS game. I think we will be ok even if we score zero points. It literally means nothing. If we trounce the Lions, we should be the Pats by a million on Sunday. I think we are over-weighting the preseason. The sky is not falling because of the 3rd PS game, and it won't fall if we get beat by the lions. The doom and gloom is getting old

Dareus and Mario when lined up together have looked pretty dominant out there. I understand that you have to shift things around, but those two should stay together on the right side of that line. For the most part anyways. Also I noticed, Pettine is subbing a ton of players in and out between plays, seems like more than normal. It could be pretty hard for us as fans, to see what the real talent is because of it. We may not see our top D out there for more than 1 or 2 plays in a row -
you know what would stop the over-paying of athletes, guaranteed contracts, ie cut or not, players get paid. to play devils advocate, Hernandez has yet to be convicted of anything, he should be paid for everything up to his release. the idea that anything illegal is included is is ludicrous. speeding? jay walking? disturbing the peace? innocent until proven guilty please (AH is a piece of crap, and i hope he roasts)

Settlement reached in NFL concussion case
Mango replied to Canadian Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
How does this affect current and future players? Players yet to be affected by traumatic brain injuries? At some point the information will/has to be presented to a court correct? -
I think you are getting caught up in the word surgery, a flushing out of the knee or a drain are not the same meaning as what I think you are linking it to.

Who`s going to the season opener?
Mango replied to Buffaloed in Pa's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am. My girlfriends aunt was Doug Marrone's secretary at SU, so she scored us some tickets. I am amped to see the new team, and I think Manuel starts. -
Think of how terrible of shape we would be in had we drafted Nassib. At least Manuel will be there to fall back on. Right now Nassib is comfortably in 4th on the depth chart, behind David Carr, and a terrible Curtis Painter. Remember how terrible this guy was when Peyton went down. The giants spent a 4th on Nassib, so sadly the loser of the backup role gets the boot, while Nassib learns some more. Realistically from what I have seen Nassib and Tuel are pretty even, and the homer in me is going to give the edge to Tuel. This situation is really a win for the front office when you break it down that way!

Is Brandon's plan like the Astros ?
Mango replied to GA BILLS FAN's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It is dead money. We aren't 20 mil under the cap, Fitz's and others contracts are taken into account, the Bills are saving cash. We do have quite a few contracts to re-up next year. The Bills will be a little close next year to the cap, but the following year will be made in the shade -
Byrd signed tender [update: may still want to be traded]

then what would we do at fs -
Jesus Christ. Look for Aaron Williams to leave the safety position now

The Bills offseason (sans draft) was brutal
Mango replied to Nostradumbass's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Cutting George Wilson is tough on us right now, although he wasnt good last season. Searcy is playing out if position at FS with Byrds absence. It is more of a preseason issue than a regular season issue. Look for him to move back underneath week one with Byrds return. Both those moves will help the secondary, and are an instant upgrade with what we are fielding now. Aaron Williams will then come in back up either Searcy or line up at corner in large receiver sets is my guess. -
Former Bills on the Cut Lists (...so far)
Mango replied to cage's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I feel like he could just stand where the left OG is supposed to line up, and that would be an upgrade from what we have now -
Skill set is great, dude likes to party a lot and not study. Sadly my issue with this is his head, with a rookie QB that'll need help along the way. Leinart is useless there. I would rather have a mon-mobile Leftwhich, or somebody with a lesser skill set and better head

I didn't get to watch the game until tonight, it actually wasn't AS terrible as the numbers suggest, for one reason. It looked like we left plays on the field in the first quarter. I noticed the D line was being shaken up quite a bit, Dareus and Mario being used sparingly. Not happy at all. A lot of over pursuit, looking for the big play on D, but really aggressive. Mario and Dareus when lined up next to each other, is the best combo at any position on the team.

2- I thought Gilmore was the only guy stopping every pass from being a TD. The guy regularly pulled off of his man to make a play on the receiver. 3- Totally agree. Wood is also a very talented center. Locking him up is a must, the only sticking point will be how much, which depends on injury this season. I suspect he remains a Bill for a reasonable price. 7- I think people don't give Gailey enough credit for getting a lot out of Spiller and Freddie. We will see what Spiller is made of this year. He may not be the same as last year, but it should be fun. 9- Agreed there will be a learning curve with a whole new coaching staff. Am I the only one who thought Marrone looked defeated during his presser. That had me a little worried. Also it seems like the press are just pushing Doug's buttons at this point, asking the same questions over and over again. I wanted to punch who ever was asking the first set of questions about injuries 10- Agreed. When Mario and Dareus are lined up next to each other, they seem to be almost undefendable, especially on that right side. I haven't noticed Kyle at all yet, which I guess isn't the worse thing in the world. Hopefully he rebounds

anyone worried about the running game?
Mango replied to enlightener's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Gailey's failure as a HC was his lack of control over the defensive side of the ball, and failure to upgrade the QB position. His offensive scheming was right on the money, he created something out of nothing. He is a good OC. We will see some growing pains with EJ and Hackett. More so than EJ, Marrone's career may be more dependent on Hackett's success. He was a bold pick for OC. Marrone cannot afford to fail at th QB position with Hackett in the drivers seat. He can get a pass on one or the other, but not both. -
I really don't think this carry 3 vs 4 during preseason is a big deal. Most teams don't carry 4 for the regular season. We are just looking to get through this week, and a possible Kolb replacement. It isn't as though other teams have Brady and 3 Jason Campbell's behind him.
-
He seemed pretty beaten with very little answers, and a little dear in headlights. It reminded me of chan in the second half of last year. Possible knee jerk reaction on my part, could be over speculating.
-
Not a starter, but Zebrie Sanders is an FSU guy
-
I'm not the happiest about this. I thought he might get behind center after Saturday. Although we won't know, practices close to the public after this week. He could end up practicing, but I highly doubt things work that way.
