Bon Jovi on Howard Stern Talking Buffalo Bills
Mango replied to K D's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Oh come on.... You might not like the content, but you should be able to separate that from talent and skill. Stern, in his prime (He has jumped the shark) is a tremendously skilled interviewer. -
I generally agree with you about the bold. However, Jacksonville specifically, and watching the last 2 weeks, the Bills lost because the offense, and passing game in particular left plays out on the field. Pittsburgh lost because they capitalized the Jags capitalized on Pittsburgh’s weakness on D. Buffalo’s offense is firmly to blame for that loss.

Stanford RB Bryce Love Staying In School
Mango replied to Jamie Muellers Ghost's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I’ve never heard a scout or have read a scouting report that mentioned playing 4 years dropped their draft status because of weat and tear... Guys have dropped for staying in school and dropping production. Guys have stayed in school and dropped because of injury. But never for playing more college football. ??♂️ -
Friendly reminder - Brandon Beane has yet to prove a thing
Mango replied to CanadianFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think this post is the point the OP is trying to make. Hyde and Poyer were NOT BEANE SIGNINGS, but with making the playoffs this year, Beane has been getting 365 days worth of roster move credits. Whaley was still in office at that point. -
Bills getting some offseason love from ESPN.

I don't think anybody is lamenting the loss of Gilmore. Decent CB, sure. Too expensive for output, yes. I will say he is having a good season, after a very rocky start. But I don't think the Bills should have paid him that. Darby? That does not make any sense. He has showed tremendous promise, and is playing at high level, and in the NFC Championship game next weekend. Beane was not in house for the Hyde/Poyer signings. That was Whaley. It is really weird to me to see Rodak give credit to McBeane for doing well despite adversity/holes in the roster. When they themselves are responsible for not having Watkins, Dareus, or Darby. -

IMO this FO is going to get a lot of judgement based on how Dareus plays the next few years, what they do with Jordan Matthews, and this upcoming draft. I believe Poyer and Hyde were Whaley signings. If Dareus is lights out next season, it is going to hurt. No Beane last draft, but I do give McDermott quite a bit of credit for this draft. However we have an ENTIRELY NEW FO since draft day. We traded away some talent this year leaving more holes. We HAVE to hit it out of the park this year. This is the first draft for this FO, a lot is on the line with a lot of question marks. If Matthews is allowed to walk and/or is not productive here, the Darby trade is going to look silly. -
Spotrac: The Mother of All QB Offseasons
Mango replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I keep hearing about Cousins to Denver. They have something like 27/28 mil of cap space, for an asking price of 25 mil from the Cousins camp, how do they make that work? I am not familiar enough with them to know much about roster moves for them to clear space. It seems like the Bills are the lowest cap space currently possible for cousins at about 32 mil. Everybody else is sub 30. Jets and Cleveland have tons of space. -
Underrated QB prospect I hope the Bills draft
Mango replied to billspro's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good reads. Good zip. Needs much more touch. He plays the college game better than Peterman, but that Miami game reminds me a lot of NP’s style in the NFL. He’s going to have to learn to let the play develop a split second longer in the NFL game. Defenses are much more complex. His quick release could be a detriment (similar to NP). If he’s not correct, you’ll see a few 5 int games. A lot of the time in these highlight tapes, I don’t see a whole lot of NFL translation. This one is different. I like the kid. I’d take a flyer at the bottom of the third or the fourth. Rivers-ish...That’s my closest at watching the first half of this tape. Quick read, throws just about everything with a lot of velocity. i also didn’t notice him taking any snaps from under center in that video. -
At what point do we say Antonio Brown is the GOAT?
Mango replied to Process's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Randy Moss is the greatest talent of all time. Which is much different than GOAT. Moss is 2 on the list. If he didn’t basically quit playing football while with Oakland, while still getting on the field on game day, he would be the GOAT. But he didn’t, so he’s not. Agreed -
Really curious of blocking scheme as well. Even if Weber Darnold/Rosen (don’t think we have the capital), I fail to see the “he gets the most of what he has. Chan Gailey is a “get the most of what’s available” type of coach. Fitzy, Spiller, Cordell Stewart, Stevie, Donald Jones, etc. None were very good, but put together an average or slightly above offense, with below average talent. The problem with guys like that, is that their ego gets in the way. Because they can create something out of very little, they don’t strongly pursue more. Point being, I think the “something out of nothing” guys gave offenses around 16-22 in the NFL for those 4 years. Not 32, 31, 20. Now one that I put this all together, can we hire Chan Gailey? ???♂️?

Why I Think the Smart Move is Pay to Get Cousins
Mango replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
QB needy teams with more cap space than Buffalo. Jets Browns- A mess but the arrow might be pointing up. Texans Maybe. But probably not. Watson. Indy- So many reports on Luck. Vikings- God knows. They like Teddy. Redskins How many of them are playoff teams? Before the cap goes up the next league year, this may change. The Bills are on the low end of affordability league wide. 33 million. I can’t imagine it is affordable for anybody else below that threshold. So his choices are Browns, crap shoot. Jets. Not as bad as people thought. Indy, may never happen, but maybe he chances McDaniels. Stay put in Washington, realistically. https://overthecap.com/salary-cap-space/ -
Why I Think the Smart Move is Pay to Get Cousins
Mango replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Define accurate.... this has Case Keemun as better than, well everybody not name Brady, Brees, or Rivers. Also has Blake Bortles as top half of the league....ahead of....effing Aaron Rodgers. Christ You forgot the ending for 2. Best at case scenario we hit on the number 2 pick. After taking a few years to recover from trading away 2 firsts this year, and a first next year, absolute minimum. We then have to work pay Darnold/Rosen, far more than 25 mil per year, because the cost of a QB will have gone up significantly. And we are having the same exact conversation we are now about what to do.... -
Mike McCoy won't be the OC per Carucci
Mango replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I do not buy this at all. Doesn’t fit the franchise. Whaley got fired after never being able to hire a HC of his own. But suddenly now, Bean can override the HC as to who to hire as OC? -
I don’t really like this line of thinking. “Bills cut/traded him, he sucks. Do better” Most of the guys we cut/traded in the last year are starters on playoff teams. It’s not like they leave and are rotational/cut again. Sammy looking at being franchised. Woods had a good year. Darby is playing very well and starting. Goodwin had a career year. Ragland started in the playoffs. Cap implications taken into consideration (no Sammy) the Bills would have been a better team this year with Darby, Goodwin, Woods, Ragland, and Seymour on the roster. This is a really big draft for this FO. We also haven’t done a great job grabbing FA’s with the new FO. (Poyer and Hyde was the previous FO)
-
I agree. On one hand I like the aggressiveness. On the other hand it feels like we are shooting our selves in the foot. Fingers crossed with our new scouting department and GM on their first draft ever. A lot of capital, but a lot of self made holes that need to be filled. Which means we need to hit much more than we miss.

Seahawks may embrace a college style offense
Mango replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don’t disagree. It does seem like people look past the deficiencies in the passing game because of running ability. Which to my point either isn’t sustainable or can’t be used regularly. For a running QB to be effective in the NFL he still has to be at least an average passer, or good passer. It’s where most of these very athletic college QB’s falter. It isn’t sustainable to have these guys running around. It will catch up. Look at Vick (excluding prison time). They can’t run forever. Tebow another extreme. Manziel. The list goes on. Athletic QB’s need to be pass first on an NFL level. Running is an added wrinkle that makes up for some deficiency, but not much. And not nearly as much as people give it credit for, as exciting as it is to watch at times -

The issue isn’t getting more production from the QB, the issue is 1. Beating an NFL defense. 2. Keeping your QB healthy. An NFL defense is much bigger, faster, and stronger than anything in the NFL. -
We jusr gave E.Wood an extension. You think he’ll be cut or sitting on the bench? I really think we are too thin at too many positions to go out and create another issue, on an already struggling OL

The Doug Marrone Coaching Tree: Hop on board!
Mango replied to BringBackFergy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Great job! This is my favorite thread of 2018. I’m really surprised people keep arguing with you. As you were folks. ???? -
Coached under Pettine. Part of the Marrone coaching tree then. Got er done!

Hey, I dislike Dick Jauron as much as the next guy, but the dude could coach DB's. George Wilson was an average starter.
