Former Bills OC has Final Exam grades for top 6 QBs
Mango replied to racketmaster's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There are a few red flags in this. Normally the taking snaps from shotgun thing in college is overrated, but NOT when you have bad footwork. Everything in the NFL is based on footwork. It is a big deal. The intermediate throws and willingness to leave a dirty pocket are also red flags for me. -
Why is Kaelin Clay back on the roster?
Mango replied to Foreigner's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There seems to be a lot of traded players starting for other teams. The FO is taking quite the gamble the last 10 months or so. -
Brandon beane the new Tim Murray?
Mango replied to QBorBust2018's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This. I am never a fan of dropping talent, just to add talent. He has a lot riding on this draft, at least for me, because as of today, this roster is worse than the one he inherited. I guess that’s by design but it is a risk. We still eat eat a bunch of dead money for Dareus. I don’t get it still. Also not thrilled with the Darby trade either. We got not a whole lot in return for that one. This draft for me is dependent on getting a QB. -
What are your bold predictions for the NFL draft?

In Retrospect: How Did We Make Playoffs Last Year?
Mango replied to BuffaloBillyG's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good topic. Lately John Murphy keeps saying “well how are we worse than last year.” It’s driving me crazy, because I don’t think we were good, and pretty flawed. If we played that season over again, the odds of us finishing worse than 9-7 are pretty high. I expect a step back to reality next season. -
Moving up to #2 = No Playoffs for the next three years
Mango replied to Domdab99's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Roster/Depth wise we are in a worse spot than we were 2 years ago. This team might miss the playoffs the next 2-3 years regardless if we trade up. For the first time in my lifetime, the Bills had most of the calls go their way. That is how we got to 9-7 and backed into the playoffs. We could have easily been a 6 or 7 win team. We need a QB in a bad way, and we have since Kelly. If the FO believes a player can be the guy for the next 10 years, nobody will care what we give up for him. Go get him -
The Top 5 Most Polarizing Figures in Buffalo Bills History
Mango replied to BuffaloRush's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This. ^^^ Whaley could be a mediocre GM exacerbated by poor leadership from the head of the franchise. Whaley May also have been a very good to great GM hampered by poor leadership from the head of the franchise. There is one common thread in the Whaley era, and it’s basically Brandon and/or Pegula sharing football operations in terms of coaching. Because of that I won’t ever fault Whaley as being a bad GM, because he did find talent, and left the roster more talented than he found it. That doesn’t mean he was necessarily good or even great. It meant he served his role with handcuffs, and we will never actually know. I’m more PO’d at Pegula/Brandon for their management at the time. -

Go check out his threads on historical GM grades. He isn't about the conversation. He just creates threads and shuts down dialogue. This is just another in a long list. -

Please. The Bills might not make the playoffs next year even if the roster stayed exactly the same as last year. -
He is a better passer than Tyrod. We will see if that makes the offense better. But it doesn't take much. Being a better passer may not back the LB and CB's off enough to open more running or throwing lanes. We shall see.

Physiology is absolutely not a joke. It is a very real study of science and the body. I wouldn't go to a doctor who thought otherwise. Again, for those in the back. Some Universities and con artists will take your money for a BS degree, or month long online course to give you some BS certification, that nobody in the field respects. But you can work at your local gym and call yourself a trainer of some sorts.
-
At the risk of sounding snarky, you probably do not interact much with high end physiologists. Because what the study is supposed to be, and what comes out of some universities, are two very different things. What you are describing is more akin to the difference between a nutritionist and a dietitian. You or I can be a nutritionist in about a month online, but a dietitian has an incredibly strong background in science.
-
Jesus, what a joke. I know tons of people with that degree coast to coast, and that wasn't anywhere near their class schedule. Just at a quick glance from UB Pre-Req's, those courses are harder, and that is just to be in the program. https://sphhp.buffalo.edu/exercise-and-nutrition-sciences/education/exercise-science-bs/prerequisites.html An aside, the USA has a real issue with physiology and exercise science, and it largely stems from football culture. The Australians, Swiss, Brittish, and Germans, do a far better job then we do.

Is it possible Jets are targeting Allen instead of Rosen?
Mango replied to LA Grant's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think most are worried there is a run on QB’s in the first 3 picks. Also this board doesn’t really like Allen, so that’s not a huge deal. -
I’m not high on him. I think he slips, not far, but he slips. Denver is the wild card, I think they love him. If he makes it past 5, I think he makes it to Buffalo at 12. I wouldnt mind grabbing him there, but no trade up.
-
I have been pretty vocal about my want to trade up for a QB. But if this happens, I sit tight and don’t blame them. Out of everybody I honk Darnold and Rosen are worth it. Maybe I make an offer for 7, or something like that, but I wouldn’t give up a ton for anybody else. Hot take: I think Mayfield slips. If he’s there at 12 I gamble and take him still even though I’m not high on him. If the draft goes Barkley, Chubb, Rosen/Darnold, I’m going to be furious.

Why not give McCarron an honest chance?
Mango replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If you break down the cost as positional rather than the player, we can do both. Trading up and grabbing a guy for our firsts and some other picks, and McCarron working out to be a stud is just fine with me. At the end of the day it’s the cost of our starting QB, no matter who it is. -
You could make the same arguement the other way. NFL careers are on the line here, we can’t go into the season with just McCarron. For me, I don’t mind sending a bunch of draft capital to move up, take our guy, and have McCarron turn into a stud. I see it as an investment in the position not the player. If it costs the Bills 2 firsts this year and maybe one next year, and McCarron is the man, then so be it, it’s the cost of the position for the next 15 years.
