And he just threw an INT in the end zone. Haha. I agree with you fully. Poor timing on the post.

Brees is a weird case. He’s basically working on a series of 1 or 2 year deals that are almost entirely gauranteed. Brees will also account for AT LEAST 10 mil against the cap the year after he retires. It was in his last contract, it just keeps getting pushed back. So anytime you see Brees getting reported at 25 mil-ish, remember, he has 10 mil sitting in the bank for him the year after he retires.

How Much Pressure Was Doug Whaley Under To Win?
Mango replied to BillyWhiteShows's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I mean, the likely scenario is Whaley advocated for Watson. McD said "no, we are holding off on grabbing a QB high until I see what we can do with TT. I need a better zone corner, especially after losing our CB 1 in Gilmore. Get me a guy" -
Agreed. Bad special teams is generally indicative of an incomplete roster/lack of depth. There is a difference between under performing players and bad players. We have bad depth at CB, LB, WR. Doesn't give your ST much of a chance. That said, Crossman still blows.

For me it is less about W-L. They need to beat and/or play good football against good football teams. We split a bad Jets team. Split an average dolphins team. Lost to 7 playoff teams. If the Bills go 8-8 next year and 4-4 against playoff teams or teams over .500, I’ll know we are moving in the right direction.

All teams in the nfl salary cap number.

I had the exact same thought. Pretty dangerous going forward. The Browns are another one to watch. They played some good football this year, and tight against some pretty good teams. Lots of room. If Baker continues to progress, they could be very dangerous very quickly. -
Do you want Adam Gase to stay in the division?
Mango replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would prefer Hugh Jackson. ? -
I was a Rosen guy admittedly. And admittedly I have been a bit disappointed this year. I’m also really excited about Allen. He is a fun player to watch behind center...that said the book isn’t written on either. There is reason to be cautiously optimistic about Allen. And cautiously pessimistic about Rosen. What i I dislike about this is poo pooing analytics or stats. What people liked about Rosen was they he was a more “precise passer” (seems to be a buzz word around these parts. That his college career in most categories gave him a chance at a higher success rate than Allen. No matter how their careers pan out that still true. If Allen turns into Favre and Rosen into Edwards, that doesn’t change the probability coming out of college. Just because a FO swam against the current once, doesn’t mean it is good practice. And just because you swim perpendicular to shore in a rip tide, and still drowned, doesn’t mean it’s a flawed practice. no matter what happens a bunch of us will be right and a bunch of us wrong. Still, nobody knows and people need to be less polarizing about it.

I mean he’s .500 against Buffalo in Miami. I would be more anti-Gase if we could count on more wins against him. -
7 out of 10 losses against Playoff bound opponents.
Mango replied to ImpactCorey's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Basically we aren't good enough to beat 37.5% of the league. Great. We are 50/50 against draft picks 3 and 13. Sounds about right. Woof -
The Buffalo Bills - a stable and well-run organization?
Mango replied to WideNine's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
RE: Gailey That was a bad situation to say the least. Buddy and Chan inherited the post TD and Levy mess. Maybe our worst roster in history. He did OK. The offense moved for having basically zero talent. I’d argue close to on par with this past season. I would argue Chan’s biggest downfall was the defense. He would have had a longer career here and much more success with Jim Schwartz on the defensive side of the ball. Chan Gailey isn’t a terrible coach. Probably splitting hairs on this point. -
How Much Pressure Was Doug Whaley Under To Win?

I took this as quality starters in the NFL: Tre White Dion Dawkins Matt Milano Karlos Williams- Karlos messed that one up. Ron Darby Robert Woods Marquis Goodwin Kiko Alonso Preston Brown Ross Cockrell- PFF grades him well This is a fair take -
How Much Pressure Was Doug Whaley Under To Win?

1. This is fair 2. Pre-draft and during the draft this is absolutely false. There was talk of Watkins possibly going first over all. 3. Meh. 4. We and the staff asked for a TE. He was the best tight end available. We overpaid. But that’s FA. I don’t hate Clay as much as others on this board. His knees are breaking apart. It’s a shame. Won’t throw a fit if he leaves though. 5. His cap hit had we waited until the next league year, 2019, instead of getting a bag of footballs would have allowed us to make more moves this year. The decision to drop Dareus with that price tag falls on this FO alone. Would have dropped the cap hit to 4.5 mil-ish. Managing personalities is part of the job of a coach. 6. A lot going on here. He didn’t hire Hue. He didn’t hire Rex. Other than that, we don’t know. His presser though. That was brutal. ? -

There was a stat out there that Doug Whaley HS more players starting on NFL rosters than any GM in the NFL that were drafted during his tenure. His biggest whiff was EJ. His biggest blunder was forcing him down our throats. Not allowing him to hire his own coach sort of hamstrung his “process”. All things considered, I think he was an above average GM. Not the best but not bad either. He had a good eye for pro scouting. Made some good trades as well. We won the Shady and Hughes trade, hands down. I do know this team is better with Darby, Glenn, and Dareus on the roster. Im still unsure if Beane is better or worse to date. -
Shaq Lawson 5th year option on the table
Mango replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Just need to find a way to keep him around. Worst case scenario he is good depth for us. Best case scenario he continues to develop. If that means taking the 5th year option at 9-10 mil so be it. -
Are great quarterbacks worth the money?
Mango replied to jaybee's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Lets start with your list being wrong. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/rankings/average/quarterback/ 1. Brees* (13-2) 2. Rodgers (6-8) 3. Matt Ryan (6-9) 4. Cousins (8-6-1) 5. Jimmy (1-2) *Brees should actually be number one or two on this list. 2017 he signed a 2 year deal for one year of play, which they then extended again The Saints eat an additional 10 million in dead cap space on top of his $25 mil. At some point the Saints will be paying Brees after he has retired. gotta count that if you want to talk "highest paid" QB's 34-27-1 is their combined record. The top 3 on this list make just about every single team in the NFL better than they are right now. Pay them what they are asking for. -
Kyle Williams: Officially Retires
Mango replied to Clemfield2622's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They should tell Roscoe Parrish to stay home this week. Kyle deserves to lead this team out of the tunnel for the last time in his career. -
I generally hate the "lead the charge". It is dumb, the team should be allowed to, and take themselves out onto their home field. Sure a special guest now and then is cool. I get it. But every effing week so so beyond dumb. That said, they should tell RP sorry this week. Kyle Williams will lead his team out onto his home field for the last time in his career.

Buffalo News: PFF Breaks Down Josh Allen's Accuracy "Issue"
Mango replied to Thurman#1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
God, this first paragraph is so infuriatingly pedantic. It drives me crazy, I don't understand the need to keep beating that drum. It literally does zero good. People have an understanding of what the words are, and they understand the intent of what the messaging is. Quibbling over vocabulary in regards to accuracy vs. precision does nothing. Boils down to you wanting to say, "JA is just as accurate as Aaron Rogers, he just isn't as precise". Cool, you win, but the larger point is still JA is not as good at throwing the football as Aaron Rogers no matter how you slice it. Now that I have that out of my system.... I don't think people mean to be asking Allen to check it down. The real issue is, he does not seem to do a good job with his pre and post snap reads. He is forcing low percentage throws when he does not need to because he does not see the field well. Just because he is capable of getting the ball to a spot hard and fast, does not mean he should. Cheers
