RE: Gailey That was a bad situation to say the least. Buddy and Chan inherited the post TD and Levy mess. Maybe our worst roster in history. He did OK. The offense moved for having basically zero talent. I’d argue close to on par with this past season. I would argue Chan’s biggest downfall was the defense. He would have had a longer career here and much more success with Jim Schwartz on the defensive side of the ball. Chan Gailey isn’t a terrible coach. Probably splitting hairs on this point.

He didn’t hire Hue. He didn’t hire Rex. Other than that, we don’t know. His presser though. That was brutal. ?

There was a stat out there that Doug Whaley HS more players starting on NFL rosters than any GM in the NFL that were drafted during his tenure. His biggest whiff was EJ. His biggest blunder was forcing him down our throats. Not allowing him to hire his own coach sort of hamstrung his “process”. All things considered, I think he was an above average GM. Not the best but not bad either. He had a good eye for pro scouting. Made some good trades as well. We won the Shady and Hughes trade, hands down. I do know this team is better with Darby, Glenn, and Dareus on the roster. Im still unsure if Beane is better or worse to date.

Just need to find a way to keep him around. Worst case scenario he is good depth for us. Best case scenario he continues to develop. If that means taking the 5th year option at 9-10 mil so be it.

At some point the Saints will be paying Brees after he has retired. gotta count that if you want to talk "highest paid" QB's 34-27-1 is their combined record. The top 3 on this list make just about every single team in the NFL better than they are right now. Pay them what they are asking for.

God, this first paragraph is so infuriatingly pedantic. It drives me crazy, I don't understand the need to keep beating that drum. It literally does zero good. People have an understanding of what the words are, and they understand the intent of what the messaging is. Quibbling over vocabulary in regards to accuracy vs. precision does nothing. Boils down to you wanting to say, "JA is just as accurate as Aaron Rogers, he just isn't as precise". Cool, you win, but the larger point is still JA is not as good at throwing the football as Aaron Rogers no matter how you slice it. Now that I have that out of my system.... I don't think people mean to be asking Allen to check it down. The real issue is, he does not seem to do a good job with his pre and post snap reads. He is forcing low percentage throws when he does not need to because he does not see the field well. Just because he is capable of getting the ball to a spot hard and fast, does not mean he should. The answer is probably because of what the FO told us and draft capital used to grab him. It’s a lot to give up for a 4-3 OLB. That said. If it’s his best fit it’s his best fit at this point. The switch also may stunt his development at both positions for a time period.

Correct. He hasn’t shown a ton at MLB in the NFL. Which is fine because he’s never actually played MLB even in college. He’s a 4-3 OLB. This FO would be smart to take a guy they like in the 3rd if he’s there at MLB. Flank him with Edmunds and Milano. A guy like Preston Brown comes to mind. Not great. Not expensive. Plays well enough. Will look much better with two very athletic guys on either side of him. Just my two cents

Both plays Shady stumbled after Josh took/kept the ball. Just out of character and happened in 2 plays pretty close together.

Is something going on between Josh and Shady? the 3rd down run, and this last play action, it looks like Shady was expecting to keep the ball and Josh is ripping it back from him. am I the only one seeing that?

The Bills scored 14 points.... If the Pats do this, and hold us to 14, they’ll most like beat us. We threw for about 200 yards and ran for about 100, against a pretty bad defense. Let’s not pretend we were prolific against a top D, just because we won last week. This is the way I would play JA until he consistently proves the league wrong on it. Before everybody gets all up in arms because I said something other than total praise and perfection of JA. It’s not that I don’t think he will get there. It is just an honest inventory of where he is right now.

For the Bills I prefer white on white, or blue on blue. I wish we would just match them up for home and away.

It’s a silly take and you’re making a total strawman argument. Of course their are very catchable balls. Dude come on. Of course Clay has made some drops. And Zay. The post says he wants receivers to catch balls that they shouldn’t catch. It’s an effing wild expectation. Just to strawman you back. The NFL is on pace to have over 16,000 passes thrown this regular season. Not making it into the top 100 catches, means that they aren’t in the top 99.5 percentile.

I mean, comparatively we can get an idea to other teams. Assuming the standard for a catchable ball remains the same, the stat has “some value” outside of frequency. It looks like we are right around average.

I am always unsure if people who make this argument know how dumb they sound. So I guess now I’ll ask? What the Bills need is receivers to make catches they wouldn’t be expected to make? And if they had receivers make catches they weren’t expected to make, then our QB would be better? Or maybe, just say...Josh Allen really puts his receivers in tough positions. We can’t expect to have a roster for of ODB’s, but they have to be better than they are now...

Except for that minor Aaron Hernandez killing people thing....

Feels like the big discrepcency here regarding drops is “could have” caught vs. “should have” caught.

Everybody is hating our receivers for not making tough catches. There have been a bunch of plays where we’ve either had a step or two on the DB, or Allen has thrown it down the sideline into double coverage, but there is has been no whining about that...
