I originally read an old article. Just found this one which is more up to date. I guess NFL players spend an average of 16 days off the field now. Feels like that isn’t the case. But I guess it is. Probably just seems that way because of guys like Allen or Tyrod who are down for just a bit. Then you see a guy like crosby basically lose a season. https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.usatoday.com/amp/2604023 basically this deems my entire post invalid until I can find updated NHL data. ?

Yeah. I wasn’t able to find a more current study on the NHL, but for early to mid 2000’s it was trending up pretty quickly. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cbc.ca/amp/1.992112

Would you have taken 3-2 at the bye?
Mango replied to benderbender's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Obviously I would prefer to be 5-0. I predicted the team between 8-10 wins. Close wins against bad teams, and blowing it in a winnable game against the Pats haven’t convinced me otherwise yet. This TEN game is one of the most important of the season in terms of needing the win, and having an understanding of where we stand as a team. Both teams match up similarly. To to answer the question. Expected result, yes. Happy with it, no. They have all been winnable to date. -
Gotta feel bad for the kid here. Jesus. Thank god for guaranteed rookie deals. Haskins is in a bad spot. They’ll get a new coach next year, and be in a similar spot rob Rosen, where they get their guy at the top of the next draft.

Are you saying that NHL teams are protecting their assets better because they have to pay them anyways, and the NFL doesn’t care because of the money line? Or that NHL players are willing to take more time off because they’re getting paid anyways?

? One is a joke. Thought it was a reasonable topic.

Daboll Run/Pass Ratios Under Center and Shotgun
Mango replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I’m actually less concerned with the “predictability”. And more concerned why we aren’t throwing from under center more. If I had to guess it is so Josh can see the field better in shotgun. Also his poor footwork may be a liability under center. I could be wrong, according to my GF, that happens a lot. -
What is it about the two leagues or sports that have such different turn around times when diagnosed with a concussion. In the NFL if a guy misses 3 weeks for a concussion, it is an eternity. JA and a ton of other players come back the next week. A guy like Sidney Crosby misses almost a year. 30% of the NHL misses at least 10 days before going back to practice. The NFL averages about 6 days. Seems like one league/sport is treading more carefully than the other.
-
What is an actual interesting discussion is how come NHL players miss weeks and sometimes months due to concussions, where as if an NFL player misses 3 games, it’s a long time. What is different about either their protocols or sports that produce such drastic turn around times?

What if You Could Bring 1 Player Back - Who would it Be ?
Mango replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Honestly, if we are playing shoulda, woulda, coulda... QB- Stay at 10 for Mahomes or Watson. Keep Cordy Glenn- Dawkins is still good on the left side, but has been basically average +/1 depending on the game, move him to LG. OL would go Glenn, Dawkins, Morse, Feleciano/Ford, Nseke Keep Woods- WR Corp- Brown, Woods, Beasley, Foster Keep Dareus- DL Hughes, Dareus, Oliver, Shaq (keep Dareus instead of paying Star would be cheaper than trading and signing both) Keep Gilmore (and maybe Darby)- Gilmore, Wallace, Neal Keep Shady- Shady/Motor, Gore- don't sign Fumbly McYeldon. . Not only do I think that is a better roster than we have now, but we wouldn't have to deal with taking a step back last year because we didn't have any money. -
This made me laugh out loud. Point is, the original pre-draft right up, really is not all that different than JA, and both tested very similarly at the combine. Their strengths and weaknesses are pretty similar. Since we are playing this game... STRENGTHS Physically imposing passer. Throws from the shotgun formation quite often, but is also effective on play action. Flashes the velocity to stretch the field and throw in tight spaces between defenders and on the sideline. Good athlete with the mobility to step up in the pocket to avoid pressure and take advantage of openings to pick up first downs with his feet. Quick release, though it often looks as though he?s throwing darts on shorter throws. Intelligent, high character team leader. WEAKNESSES Gives opponents too many chances for turnovers by forcing throws into coverage trying to make a play. Area code accuracy ? short throws are often low or wide, preventing receivers from making a play after the catch. Deep ball accuracy is uneven, as well. Gets happy feet under pressure, spins to the outside to avoid the rush. Inconsistent recognizing blitz. Must step into his throws more consistently to fully utilize his arm strength. BOTTOM LINE As gifted as any quarterback in the class, the physically imposing has a chance to shoot up this list using his strong arm and mobility. Scouts appreciate his leadership qualities and toughness , and hope he can improve on his consistency. decision-making and accuracy drop in the face of pressure, but has the velocity and mobility teams look for in a project quarterback.

Emmanuel Sanders might be on the block...
Mango replied to Mango's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
After a few beers, feels like I’d pull the trigger on Zay and a 4th. I say that thinking Zay gets a bad wrap in Buffalo. -
Would you, and if so, how much? https://www.12up.com/posts/nfl-insider-believes-broncos-could-deal-emmanuel-sanders-and-chris-harris-jr-before-trade-deadline-01dp4t543r3g

Have You Started To Lose Faith in Josh Allen?
Mango replied to Phil The Thrill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I hate playing what-ifs. You are what you perform. My last national championship, I had a terrible start, I still won; but just missed fastest time of the entire race by about a second. I thought for a moment, “if only”. But the result is, if the were better I would have set the record. But I wasn’t beater, so I didn’t. You either own in and live with it, or think what-if’s and never become good enough. I think JA holds himself to the same standard, and it’s in the franchises best interest to do the same. Judge by production, not “what-ifs” or “shoulda-couldas” -
Have You Started To Lose Faith in Josh Allen?

The more Allen plays, the more he almost looks like a replica of Favre. He’s missing connecting on some of those deep post and seem patterns. If he can start to connect on more of those and elevate his WR’s on this plays, we have a baller! -

JA is responsible for 10 points of turn overs. If this were a game where both teams scored 28+, I’d be Temped to agree. But it’s not. It’s a game lost 16-10 where we had bad QB play, from a QB with a number of games with bad QB-ing. -
I love this so much! Brady generally gives great public insight to most elite althletes/Olympians that aren’t NFL, NBA, NHL. Don’t get high after any win that isn’t a championship. Everything coupd always be better. This though...it as great of a response as you’ll get out of him. Beaten, bruised. Not “fix your mistakes, look at the film. We could always be better, we just didn’t play our football”. It’s just him sort of losing. They’ll win another 8+ games this year. Our next few games are tough and will be real identity makers for us. Most are playing tough hard football with a record around .500.

JESUS... I can grasp a couple of super homer and super negative Allen threads, but post BBMB, the multiple mirror threads have gotten absurd the last few years. Its a message board, we will keep calling eachother names, such is message board life, but this thread in particular really grinds my gears. Mods- can we close or merge please.

Is Jason Peters the greatest Eagle of all time?
Mango replied to Ethan in Cleveland's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The honest answer is, we are a brutal fan base with a generation of irrelevance. When things are going well, we will make all the excuses. When things go poorly, talent be damned, GTFO. Yeah, he bungled that. But it the point remains, however odd topic, that Bruce was a premier pass rusher at a position that isn’t meant to rush the passer. Surely we can agree on that. With recency bias, does Gilmore fit into this category?
