I agree. I am probably 60/40ish in agreeing with that post. Meaning I would be more surprised at 12-4 than 8-8 (2 gam swing) FWIW. But ultimately you are what your record says you are. I have some concerns on both sides of the ball I think the defense will take a small step back. They’ve had difficulty against the run and at getting off the field. I don’t think it will be huge, but the offense will need an major step to make up for it.

Inversely it means that this team is a few plays away from 8-8 because on any given Sunday in the AFC... 2 examples: 1. 1st jets game. It’s the only game we won where we lost the QB differential. Darnold also had mono. 2. TEN. They missed 4 field goals and had 2 TDS called back. Mariota was benched shortly after. We won 14-7.

If Josh doesn’t have a big 4th/5th year where he can compete as an above average passer, the.l their won’t be a year 6. There is no way you give $35-40M to a 58% passer who puts the ball on the ground/throws interceptions about as often as he finds the end zone. Take 40M from this teams roster and ask if Allen can make up for it. Until that answer is yes, he doesn’t get a 6th year.

I was more responding to the stats he said were left out. I don’t disagree. At the same time NOTHING about Trubiskys game is being held back because of physical capabilities or limitations. Similar to Josh they both seem to have a gifted skill set, it’s just a matter of refining it for the NFL game. Just like Josh, there is no reason to expect that year 3 is Mitch’s peak, the same as we shouldn’t expect it from Mitch.

Mitch Trubisky has 1 less 4 quarter comeback to Josh Allen. They have near identical 3rd down conversion rates when passing. Mitch has the advantage by 0.2%. So I guess by your “important stats” they are still pretty similar...

That Tennessee defense has been pretty good all year and the offense has been quickly dangerous. Buffalo won 14-7, but even under Mariota TEN had 4 missed field goals and 2 TD’s called back.

Sounds about right. There are some things in common between Mitch and Josh. I think JA will turn out to be the better player.

This always sort of puzzled me with Yeldon. We went into every game with two backs, but one was aging pretty quickly as the season went on, and had proved not to be able to do much. Andre Roberts did a mediocre job at kick returns this year. Dimarco could be replaced on game day with any of our TE's. It would not have been that hard to make a spot for an RB3 who is capable of making a play or two on game day.

I would think there is an implied "yet" or "for now" in those statements. No GM or HC is going to waiver on their 2nd year QB who had some pretty nice highs in their second year. I think Josh has to make another big jump or two for the FO to throw 35-40M his way. Beane also said something along the lines of "I hope Josh progresses to a point where we have to pay him a lot of money". They will commit to Josh for as long as they reasonably can.

Agreed. Just some weird stuff with the offense. Foster showed some ability last year. Total dud this year. Yeldon never played. Duke playing more than Beasley... I think there are a few things: 1. We’ve been productive doing some gimmicky things. Flea flicker, reverses etc. I think we rely on them so often because we aren’t consistently productive in a traditional sense. Inversely, they then disappear because you can’t build an offense for 16 weeks and a post season on those things 2. I think some of our inconsistencies is because we don’t have an offensive identity. Some of that is players. Some is coaching. Dabbol seems to be outsmarting himself. Our OL is bouncing week to week between zone blocking schemes. Personnel groups are just being tossed out the window randomly. (See Duke Williams in two random games) At some point you have to commit to something as a staple. Maybe it is because we aren’t really good at much? Chicken and the egg I guess...Obviously BD runs the offense so he takes a bunch of heat, but ultimately McD lets the circus continue for 16 weeks and a playoff game. He deserves equal blame for their blunders.

Probably around 10% +/- When you factor in the upgrades on that side of the ball and expected natural improvement with time in the league. While nothing on the offense is elite, we did severely upgrade hitsupporting cast. I think you have to take that into account. -Upgraded our OL from bad to average. -Upgraded our WR Corp from bad to meh (missing a big threat. Once we get that this is a very good group) -Singletary has been very good. Need another back. For the life of me I don’t know why Yeldon is always a scratch. -First full NFL offseason -2nd year in the same offense. I think he showed many more flashes of throwing with anticipation and controlling his velocity. He took off much less. His highs are better and a bit more frequent. There are times when his delivery is very good. He walks out on the field with his balls in a wheelbarrow. He still bails from clean pockets too soon. His accuracy can be erratic. Decision making can be odd at times. His basement came back on multiple occasions. I was hoping to see less of these moments. Mechanics are still messy. He’s shown growth, and as long as he keeps showing growth, you keep sticking with him with his rookie contract and 5th year option. He needs to be a much better passer before you start taking money away from the defense, OL, WR to pay him 40M in 4 years.

I mean the what if goes both ways. Bills lose if the DB doesn’t drop that pick 6. If JJ Watt gets his hands on that pass. If Knox whiffs on swatting the lateral out of bounds. If Allen’s knee doesn’t hit a split second before the fumble. If Cody Ford gets called on 1/4 of his holds. I think Allen gave us a mediocre performance this year. I am not ready to crown him “The guy”. He needs to show me more as a passer. Buffalo is probably much closer to if not under .500 with a 20th ranked defense. Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow has a bunch of come backs as well (I think Allen should be better). Trubiski only had one less 4th quarter comeback this year. Allen made some very puzzling decisions and plenty of bad plays in the second half this weekend. 52%, 0TDs, and almost a couple of turn overs is sort of the Allen people are afraid of. I think it’s fair to criticize. If he is going to translate into the 2020 version of Favre or Elway, he needs to throw a better football consistently, throw more TD’s, and take better care of the football. His Second half performance is pretty close to the same outings he’s had against other top half teams.

At some point you have to pay your players though. We have a lot holes to fill still and not great depth in the secondary. CB2 is an area of need. We have to stop creating new holes. He plays like a top CB, pay him like a top CB. I’d prefer if they got frugal elsewhere.

I was talking Dimarco, Brown came open right at his cut. Throwing with anticipation there would have been a completion at the marker. Agreed on the toe tap from Brown. Frustrating. It was a late throw, but not a crazy catch by any means.

Beane and McD are more interwoven than most coaches and FO’s. There seem to be very few, if any moves, that aren’t in lockstep with eachother. If you don’t think McD was intimately involved with trading down with KC, trading Cordy Glenn and Darby, and moving up for Allen, you would be way wrong.

For all my complaining about calls on Saturday, Ford got away with a TON of holding. He was grabbing Watt outside the numbers/shoulders and tossing him around a ton.

I didn't pay for the All-22 this year. That Brown throw was do-able but needed to be thrown right when he made his cut. Looked like there was somebody, maybe Duke running a deep post route down the left side 1v1. Just rewatching on twitter videos, I would have actually preferred he took off there and tried to pick it up on his own. Other than that, I totally agree with you. Choosing that personnel grouping at that point in the game is the most infuriating part of it all.
