A- today. My only real critique this week is that he tried to play a little too much hero ball at times. Not so much forcing throws or wild decisions. More, that there were times he needed to get rid of the ball sooner. Too much looking for the big play. I’ll be curious to see what the all-22 says. Was he not seeing the right guys at the top of his drop back or were there guys just not open. 2019 Josh I would have jumped on it and assumed he wasn’t trusting his eyes. So far I trust 2020 Josh. Overall I loved him today.

Happy with the win, not happy with the coaching staff

The defense wasn’t very good today. They got lucky to get out of the first half the way they did. They were opportunistic at the right times but not consistent. Cant rely on getting gashed then the occasional 3rd down stop. If the pattern is to get gashed those drives will eventually end in points. -
Can hardly wait for the PFF breakdown on Allen...

They’ll probably say that Kroft bailed him out of a bad decision to even throw that ball on a BS INT call. Which I would disagree with. Probably will also talk about how he at times held on to the ball way too. Which I would disagree with. -

This one is on me guys. I’ve been too quick in the past to buy a guys jersey. So I waited for Tre to resign. Jersey came a few day later and here we are... -
Postgame Thread Bills vs Rams

I’m relieved the Bills pulled this one out. But I am still angry about a few flagrantly BS calls. So bad, I have no other answer than the league is actively trying to change the game. HOW is that an INT?!?! No horse collar for on JA, but then to call unsportsmanlike on the QB. Come on! -

It’ll probably show up later. My guess is it was the first time it aired. -

Ryan Fitzpatrick: Hall of Famer? or First Ballot HoFer?

Oddly enough, I randomly YouTubed the Hell in the Cell match. I haven’t watched wrestling since I was a kid, I’m 33 now. So it’s probably been 20+ years. The absolute guts on that guy. The real life beating and how close he came to possibly dying in that match is something that was totally lost on me as a kid. Not only did he do it, he played it up. -
FiveThirtyEight - Josh Allen Article

Thought this was an interesting read. I hope they come back to it as the season progresses. I am interested to see how this plays out based on their “important” metrics. -
The Athletic Article: Daboll and Allen

I guess I can only speak for myself. But that has largely been my gripe, not that he could not, but he has not and has been more than the "occasional" miss fire or misread. He has always had the tools. He has a cannon attached to his shoulder where an arm should be. He is big and strong. He has some wheels. A tenacious runner. A great work ethic and tremendous leader. -

To the bolded point. I think part of that might be because he is our QB so we just have more discussion over it and pay more attention when national pundits mention his name. I would guess guys like Trubisky, Wentz, Sanchez, have all had long threads on their own boards about similar things. -

I agree with this. I will add, that Josh can also be either hot or cold. He has a tendency to hit a few wow plays, then miss a bunch of throws that he either didn't deliver a good ball, or didn't see initially. The issue/complaints with Josh has always been consistency, not whether he could or could not make throws, reads etc. He has been very consistent so far this year. He has taken a large leap than I thought he would in year 3. It has been great to see! -
Joe B All-22 Review of Dolphins game

Honest question. What play is that from? Is AJ in the backfield or is Fitz running across the line of scrimmage. Maybe it is the way the image resized, but it looks like he is rushing. -
I would be curious to see this number weekly. I know we are two weeks in, but we were worked week 1 vs. week 2 in run blocking.

The 506: NFL TV Schedule and Maps: Week 3

Unsure if you are joking. Just in case. It is Saint Louis.... -
Yeah, I didn't necassarily take it as "nitpicking", more just like film study. Similar to what you would go over the day or two after a game. What was good, bad, and what was best. He was pretty positive about Josh. JT thought Allen had a good game. People need to calm down. Pointing out what could be better 3 days after watching the game film is not the same as saying "your QB blows".

The 506: NFL TV Schedule and Maps: Week 3

I am in the capital region. Absolutely SHOCKED that we are getting Giants v. SF. given the injuries to both of them and the momentum the Bills have at the moment. Not to mention Buffalo v. LAR is essentially a pick em at the moment in Vegas. -
I bet this happens all the time in the NFL. These guys basically get paid to either crash into somebody with the force of a Toyota or get crashed into by a Toyota. Over and over again for about 3 hours. Then they spend the entire off season to get as strong as possible so that it hurts the other guy more. These guys are all doped up for 4-5 months of the year.
-
To add on, most of the time when this happens it isn't career altering. Imagine I needed a cortisone shot to do my job. Doc slips too far in, punctures my lung. Now instead of being say a "manager" I am immediately some sort of "support rep". So sure it happens, but rarely is the result career altering. Also, this is why doctors carry a TON of insurance. Sometimes very costly accidents happen.
-
Also the shot does not make the pain go away. It just goes from stabbing to throbbing. I had a stress fracture that was misdiagnosed as something else by a dumbarse physio on OKC. I was told I could row through it without making anything worse, that it was "just about pain management" I was getting shots and taking dos packs, plus wrapping my ribs to practice 2-3 times per day. I went through World Championship selection on it. I actually raced the Canadian Team on it. It still hurt like hell every.single.day. all day....until my rib finally flat out broke just warming up one morning. Agassi talks about it too. Cortisone never made his back 100% it just made it bearable.

Agreed to an extent, but let a guy dream! For Josh to push the 40M+ mark with an extension this upcoming off-season, he will need to basically continue at a similar pace he is now. Which is not terribly sustainable, especially considering his past play. I expect him to continue to to be much better than years past going forward. But not 70% 380 yards per game good. The more realistic value if he were to be extended this off season is probably $36-38M per. So I am not too far off from 32M/Goff money.
-
I don't get the sense that Josh will demand max pay. At least from my perspective, I would prefer to be in the best situation possible for $30M rather than leverage my team/situation for $40M. I get the other side of the coin, that is a $50M difference over a 5 year deal. I think Josh will need to be wildly consistent to get an offer this off season, something he has not been since he got to Buffalo. But he does seem to be showing it. All that together. I wouldn't be surprised if we extended Josh at $160M-ish over 5 years $65M-ish gauranteed. Somewhere around the Goff range. Also, I think that would drive a dude like Baker crazy, who seems like he would chase the $$$. As things stand right now, that would drive a Baker contract, probably under $30M per year. haha!
