I was hoping last week was his new floor. But here we are. If Allen averages the year at 58% we are in for a bunch more clunkers since he has 4 games at 70+% working that average up. Let’s all hope this is not the case.

I was curious how this thread would grade JA this week. We are about a third of letter grade off from each other, which is normal. I think there is a strong argument to give an F, but not necessary to quibble. To the bolded, I thought about this in the first quarter when Mahomes let a pass or two get away. Then he completed about 80% of his passes for the game and that narrative became absolutely irrelevant/not reality. When the guy across from you is completing 80% of his passes and you are completing 42% with 9 minutes left in the game, it’s 0.00% a weather issue.

A lot of blame to go around.... Except for Special Teams: Bogo single handedly stopped this from being a 42-13 blow out. He gets my only game ball tonight. There was a missed 52 yarder, but largely kicking and coverage were great. Even at the end of the game Bass popped one up for the coverage team to keep the return around the 15. Solid group tonight. Defense: Got shredded on the ground. Generally terrible on 3rd down. Couldn’t make any “key stops” but made enough stops to keep KC in a low scoring game. Bend but don’t break. Lots of yards but held PM and the Chiefs to only 2 TDS and a million field goals. It was a good enough performance to win the game. Offense: The passing attack takes the lions share of the blame. 9 minutes left in the game and you are losing to Mahomes by 10 with possession of the ball and you are 9/21 and 66 yards? There is no excuse other than very bad QB play. Running game was meh. Protection was good enough. A couple drops, sure, but not enough to account for such an abysmal production over 75% into the game.

No he didn’t. He played well when the Chiefs went up by 13 and he took some under with stuff. With 9 minutes left Allen was 9/21 and 66 yards.

9/21 66 yards and still in the game vs the Chiefs. With 9 minutes left everybody did “enough” to win this game but the QB. Sorry guys.

I honestly do not get why Yeldon never sees the field under this regime. When he does he seems to find a way to be somewhat productive. Moss and Singletary are underwhelming so far this year. Especially after last week where DS could barely get anything going against the worst run D (YPC) in the league. There were entire drives where he sat on the bench and Yeldon carried the load. I also have not been as high on Singletary as a lot of this board. Great piece to have in the cupboard, but he needs another quality RB to take the pounding in order to be productive.

Oh I totally agree. I was just keeping it to the defensive side of the ball. What they did at OL and WR have been largely good...well kind of. We got to 2020 with some great talent on that side of the ball. haha. oh god. I try and forget about him. There were some real missteps there. Kelvin "Buffet Line" Benjamin, Zay Jones, Jordan Matthews...that was a rough time.

Dude claimed 83 yards. That was like 56 yards. Not even close.

I have been critical of this FO at this point. If the team is going to keep chasing Carolina retreads they are going to catch more flack when they do not pan out. It is less the Carolina issue with me and more the spending a good chunk of money on past reputations. Vontae, Jefferson, Butler, Norman. We have seen this FO do this a few times and have it not pan out. The FO needs to do a better job of identifying FA at the right trajectories in their career. I am not going to crucify them mid season. We are still 4-1 and playing the Chiefs tonight. We have to find a solution for the next few months with the guys we have. Hoping this shake up can help fix some things because it is really all we have at the moment. Otherwise this is just me arguing with my SO other and bringing up the last big fight we had. Doesn't do anything in the moment. (I think this is what my therapist would call growth)

Given some of the shake ups we have seen with DL and possibly only dressing 2 TE's, could this be a game we see Edmunds do some lining up at OLB here and there and Dodson in the middle? The board has been whispering about trying that out the last few weeks and it feels like the staff is going to try some new things with personnel. Here is to a good game guys!

Jerry Hughes is not a huge concern for me at the moment. He may lose containment, but he is still a decent pass rusher. He just can't be "the guy" at this point in his career. The rest of the line is "meh" role players on their best days, and Hughes is still the only focus in terms of stopping the pass rush. If we could get better penetration from the DT position and/or better play from the MLB position, Hughes is still a really nice piece to have. But no, Hughes is not what he once was, and is not good enough to take over a game at DE with bad DT and MLB play. We would need a JJ Watt, Khalil Mack, etc. type player to make up for the deficiencies in the rest of the front 7 playing well below average NFL level. There are not a ton of those guys around. Saying we need that is a lot easier than actually getting a guy at that level.

No doubt NE is a much bigger game than KC, but we have to rack up wins where we can get them for the division, and make no mistake, KC is a big game for Buffalo. I think the Dolphins are a sneaky team that could creep up to challenge the division this year. Their loses are 3 points to Buffalo, 8 points to Seattle, and 10 points to NE. They are 4th in the league in points differential behind Baltimore, Pitt, and Tampa. I would not call them an easy out come our second game. Other than the Rams they have a very winnable 5 game stretch before they play KC. Why does josh keep wearing a visor in practice when he can’t on game day. Waiting for a medical referral? Trying to get better at things and not have to worry about his eyes with the defense? just curious.

If there isn’t a fundamental difference Milano is by far the better player. That actually plays into what people are claiming.

Given the draft is this a more advantageous? Asking not speculating.

The most interesting part of this, and we may see similar, is that there is really no college football this year. We are running on 2019 tape for most of these guys. Depending on cost, there is more value to making a move like this than there is to going after guys in the draft. Curious what the cost is. It may even be worth while for Buffalo to jump a round or add the additional pick because it is in the division. Maybe not with Williams, but any other opportunities that might arise. Cheers!

So just to clarify, this does become a bidding war if he wants it to? So NJ is on the hokk for $5.5 or 6M, whatever, regardless of the contract from the new team. The new team contract is all net new income for him? Am I reading this right?

Somebody would need to offer him $12M for that to happen. NJ is on the hook for whatever it is short of $6M. I guess a team could offer $7M and he’d get some extra cash. Highly doubt it.

If we line up Bell at the LOS, Diggs, Davis, Beasley, and Bell together should be enough to account for the loss of Brown.

Yeldon got a good dose of snaps Tuesday. I thought he was decent in PP, and also provided the threat of a wheel route. He did have a big whiff on a LB who had a free run at Josh. Him and Knox I believe were lined up in the backfield. I think it was Yeldon that missed big time and took off into the flat.

This is where I am at with it. I think Buffalo is a great fit. The rushing attack has been anemic. Yeldon, a similar but lesser skill set was able to find some holes. The offense as a unit is pretty quality and has been able to score points. He should get a lions share of the carries and have a bunch of production if he lines out wide. If he can turn our rushing attack around, his next contract should be another big one.

I think he is just trying to increase his social media engagement. "what does bills mafia think about this?" The reason he says he never met him is because he brought up personality fit and is covering for himself, as NOT to imply that he wouldn't be a good fit.

I hate the “what about the defense” responses. Who the hell is out there that we are just not signing? It’s not like we are grabbing Bell instead of signing a prolific pass rusher.

If you IR Moss, there is no need to release Yeldon. I have always like him, I don't get why he doesn't get more snaps. He is a nice piece to have and the ability to be reasonably productive. We saw that Tuesday.
