  1. I think we agree here. An Edmunds extension will probably be something closer to what he and his agent thinks they can improve to because of measurables, not based on what he has already done. It will be interesting to get an idea of where everybody values his play as that time inches closer.
  2. So basically we should start welcoming him to Buffalo?
  3. I mean, even if they played nothing but Sunday at 1pm games, they would play 3 games in 14 days 100% of the time.
  4. Where did McD say he was their long term solution? I know he said he had faith that Edmunds would figure out a way to get back on track, but I missed the part you are referencing.
  5. What are your greatest needs then? I get OL, but pass protection has been pretty good, just not run blocking. CB depth is a major need, but I think the secondary has had major issues because the pass rush never gets there and the safeties have been creeping up to help in run support. Getting an upgrade at DT I think helps Hughes, Addison, Oliver, Edmunds, and our secondary.
  6. I have not spent much time with this trade because I doubt the Jets move him in the division without a major price tag. But if they were to do something like this, 2020 would be the year to do it. We barely have college football and grading prospects will be much more of a guessing game than years prior. Probably safer and possibly more beneficial than in years past.
  7. I think you got that a little backwards. His first 3 years were dirt cheap, like $8-9M against the cap. $25M this year $17.7M next year. His dead cap for 2021. So the Pats can get out of it for like $7.7M. If this were last year I would absolutely consider it for Buffalo. We had tons of space. We spent way too much on not even good play on the front 7 and then a ton more on old man Norman. I would rather have Gilmore next to Tre for two years than AJ Klein, Josh Norman, and Trent Murphy at approximately the same value (you can pepper in some combination of Addison, Butler, and/or Jefferson) (Disclaimer: Not knocking Beane- Totally just a "what if") https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/new-england-patriots/stephon-gilmore-9820/
  8. This occurred to me earlier. I don’t think he set course for that. But given his loss of practice due to Covid, then dropping 2 in a row. It is the hand he is dealt at the moment. He’s missing basically half of his starters due to opting out. He could tank and still come back with a top 5 defense and a rookie QB.
  9. There is some credence to that. That contract is a huge reason why they didn't have enough cash to get a deal done.
  10. Anybody see what the dudes cap hit is this year? $25M? Wow
  11. Right...and they delivered on exactly zero of them. If it weren’t for special teams we were on pace for a whopping zero points today. Even with a few short fields.
  12. Dude, you took one small criticism and ran away like a freight train. You referenced a bunch of stuff I didn’t even talk about. Not well measured. I’m not even sure you read my post. You may want to go back and check. Yes Allens ball placement has regressed the last two weeks. TN was worse than LV, and KC was worse than TN. That’s about as clear as that gets with what I meant vs the definition of the word. I thought that was pretty well agreed upon. I didn’t get into why. But I can get behind that his non throwing shoulder may be making that worse. But we also have two seasons with a healthy non-throwing shoulder with similar issues. So I am trying to figure out what’s pattern and what’s new. It’s why I didn’t go into detail, but you did. You specifically asked me how I felt about his pocket presence. I listed it as a pro. People don’t talk about it enough. Im hoping you had a couple pops before you wrote this one because it seems a bit out of character. My post was a total of like 9 sentences, 3 bullet points, and you basically misinterpreted all of it because I said ball placement ha regressed the last two weeks.
  13. Allen’s ball placement seems to have regressed the last two weeks. Other than that I have two major thoughts on him this year. Pro: his pocket presence has been remarkable. I’m very impressed. He doesn’t get enough praise for the leap he’s made in it this year. Con: he holds onto the ball too long. I get we run a lot of downfield patterns, he can make extend plus, looking for the big play, etc. But dude, it’s ok to hit a 3-5 step drop at the top. We almost never see it.
  14. Joe B. pointed out something I didn’t realize with Oliver. We have him lining up at 1-tech far too often. I don’t think it’s a leap to suggest that’s why we haven’t seen enough or consistent production out of him. He’s too small to play 1-tech. That said, Zimmer should be playing 1-tech. So if by starting you mean, stop lining up Oliver at 1-tech and use him almost exclusively at 3-tech, then sure, why not. It can’t be any worse. ...but if you mean replace him at 3-tech, you are out of your gord.
  15. Good thing we got all those D-Linemen so we can get them in the rotation at CB2 and or NCB, and OG. Maybe since Philips didn’t dress last week he can get an opportunity playing CB or OG? ...a girl can dream, can’t she?
  16. He is a very good defensive coach. Almost always solid. 1. They also play dirty. 2. He is a total POS. Because of 1 and 2 he can’t be in charge because he loses the roster quickly. Also because of 1 and 2, he needs the right HC to control that.
  17. I agree, we just need to shorten the swing of the pendulum with Josh I think. With about 9 minutes left he was 9/21 and 66 yards. 15 of those came on the Diggs pass at the end of the first half with the defense giving up a free pass to keep us out of TD range. It was almost a major clunker. After some quick mathing, it is why I thought ending the year at 63% was both a fair estimate and a good pass/fail line. We would have to have a number of games with some real fall out to hit that mark assuming that the greatest frequency of games fall in the 62-65% range from here on out and 1 or 2 more pushing the upper 60's.
  18. This is where I am at. To get to 63% on the year the math breaks down to about 60% completion percentage from here on out. That should be doable. I imagine a few more clunkers but hopefully some more great games from him. As has been the criticism, he needs to find more consistency. If he gets much below 63% it most likely means he tallied more clunkers than we’d like. I still think the under on 65% is safe but I don’t think he regresses that much this season.
  19. But what if it is against an NFC team?
  20. I think the same thing. McD was hired first. Beane brought in second. McD was extended, Beane has not been yet. They work in tandem, but I agree, McD is captain of this ship. That doesn’t mean Beane doesn’t have a sense of autonomy on certain things, FA’s, scouting, etc.
  21. We don't need to do anything but get a W. But it would be really helpful to be dominant in some facet of the offense or defense (if that is even possible). The team needs to gain some swagger back somewhere in their game, doesn't matter where it is. We need to either dominate the Jets either on defense, with the run, or (most likely) through the air to gain some momentum back into the locker room. If the score is 24-10, so be it. A few days away from the game, I feel like a 21-20 might as well be a 24-20 loss though. Based on the last two games, if the Jets play us tight, we are in trouble heading into NE and SEA. Did we reschedule again, or do you mean like against our "defense"
  22. It is time to come home oh bearded one. I just want this guy back in Buffalo, not to replace Josh.
  23. I mean it is not a huge mystery. We haven't gotten great production out of our draft picks (yet) and we have done a pretty terrible job in FA in deciding who to let walk at what cost, and who to bring in at what cost.
  24. I don't know why, but your thread title made me think of this thing my SO does all the time. Complaints that are just words and no substance. I am a believer that once you put that out into the universe, you can't take it back and it just makes the situation worse. Like: "Mango, the dog is barking in the crate" a couple times in a row....."YES I KNOW! Sometimes she barks for 5 -10 minutes when we put her in. I just put her in. You know this and mentioning it over and over again does literally zero good other than make me more annoyed that 1. the dog is barking and now 2. You just keeping saying "Mango, the dog keeps barking" every 45 seconds. Please bring something to the table other than whatever this moment is" That actually happened (again) yesterday, so thanks for getting that off my chest... Deep breaths, back to football...complaints are fine. My SO would stand next to McD and keep reminding him that KC is running all over him. That is really bad. I think this board may have been knee jerk in the calling for the firing of Beane, Frazier, McD at week 6 and 4-2. But most of the commentary has been productive. How did we get here and how do we get out. I do have some concerns about how we fix DT, DE, MLB, CB2, and NCB in one offseason given the money and picks we have already spent on DT, DE, CB2, and MLB. And we are expected to let Milano walk, so we need to replace him. There does not seem to be enough draft picks or money at the moment to do that.
  25. Holes all over the team last night and people are raging about a 52 yarder at half time.
