Sean McDermott Mic'd Up Chargers Game
Mango replied to Mark Vader's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good catch on the green dot. I wonder who has the backup receiver? Could be Hyde. Could be Klein as well. Edmunds, Poyer, and Hyde all played 100% of snaps this week. Doesn't matter anyways other than it seems clear McD is leaning heavily on Hyde for defensive leadership which is cool to see. -
Sean McDermott Mic'd Up Chargers Game

Anybody notice they caught him talking up Hyde a few times. Curious if Edmunds elevated play is that Hyde is calling the defense now and that leaves Edmunds to just play fast. If so, it is a good move. -
A lot of if's in there, but I get the point and don't totally disagree. The need to "look towards the future" is silly at the moment. I don't see them bailing on Brady in 2021. And I do not see any reason to part with Arians. If this is Arians last stand, he will be out on his own terms in short order and will bring you more than enough success that you become one of the top landing spots for any coach when he does. Draft a guy in the bottom of the first this year, sure. Let him sit for a year. Let Brady walk/retire. Let Arians help select his replacement as he rides into the sunset after 2023 or whenever.

I agree with you that I do not want it to disrupt the system, and it very well may. But I think it is because owners want to keep net profits as high as possible not because it is to keep them in the black. According to Yahoo only one team had an operating income lower than the net in TV contract to salary cap. https://www.yahoo.com/news/rich-every-nfl-team-090000298.html Average operating income across the league, per statista, is $100M. https://www.statista.com/statistics/193482/nfl-franchises-average-operating-income-since-2005/

The TV contract covers the cap +50 or 60M. By my (remedial) math the only reason to drop the cap is to maintain GP, not necessarily to keep teams out of the red. I do not see how this is an "owners don't have enough money to stay in the black, decrease the cap" issue. It is a margin decision between being in the black and being further into the black.

Eagles HC Pederson on the hot seat with job status
Mango replied to Greg S's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I came here to say this. -
At a 4.66 he is faster than Singletary. haha

I am generally able to not break stuff in the house, but I do scare the dog a lot. I watch a lot of games outside and I throw stuff all the time. After that "InTeRcEpTiOn" from the Rams game, my neighborhood is lucky I didn't set the entire thing on fire. I did throw my beer over my back fence from the house.

No it wasn’t. Allen doesn’t suck. He just doesn’t deserve a game ball today. Step away from the ledge my man.
-
I didn’t notice Dawkins against Bosa often. Doesn’t mean it didn’t happen, but it didn’t seem to get him 1v1 often. Winters on the other hand was probably the worst player in a Bills uniform today.

Gannon kept saying ankle, it looked like a knee to me. But I’m just some Schmo on the internet

But seriously. I wouldn’t give one to Allen today. Klein Poyer Davis Tre The RB group (neither were stand out on their own) Honorable mention Edmunds and the OL minus Winters. He was embarrassed today. Best player on the field today was Bosa and it wasn’t close.

For the millionth time, you can’t do that. The Jets are 0-5 on the road and 0-5 at home. If you vacate their home loses because you think they’re an anomaly, you have to vacate their road losses (which are other teams home wins) because of the same anomaly. The math has to be the same through the entire equation So you’ve taken 5 wins and 5 losses away. Effectively leaving you in the same exact spot. I would be curious to see home W-L for teams with vs. teams without fans. Maybe even broken down between the teams that have +/- 15k in stadium, or whatever the marker is. But I would guess (not sure) that there is minimal home field advantage in 2020. Vegas has moved the line for home teams from -3 to about -.5 depending on the situation.

Clearly your post didn’t have anything to do with Allen or DS. But your post is conceptually flawed. I was trying to help create an analogy/metaphor to help you understand why people were kicking back on it. But... that clearly didn’t work. So I’ll just jump on with everybody else, you can’t take 20% of the league and just toss their home games because they are bad. Two reasons, one, it is too much of a percentage of the sample size. Two, their away games are somebody else’s home games, which would have to be tossed out as well. The 6 teams you listed account for about 62 games. You can’t just toss all results for that many games and then say, “see, now my point is accurate”
-
If they’re bad teams (and they are), and their home W-L don’t count then neither would their road losses in another home teams win. You’d effectively be removing about 60 games at the moment from the data set....which is wild. To everybody's point here, you can’t just rip 60 games from the data and then say “see, I told you this is true” To put it in Bills terms; you feel like you’re saying “If you take out Singletarys 2 carries for 40 yards, he was only 8 for 16, that’s really concerning” But what you actually did was go back to Josh’s rookie year and say if you pull out all the bad throws/games he was really tremendous.
-
Actually yes...this year. With about 9 minutes left in the KC game he was something like 9/22 and 66 yards. That was nearly a 3.5 quarter effort.

Lions fire HC Matt Patricia and GM Bob Quinn
Mango replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Oh I agree with everything you said. I am not saying I do not get why his name is being brought up, I do. Also not trying to give credit/take anything away from Allen's improvement. I would just want to see more success/consistency, making sure this is not a flash before I would hand him the keys to my franchise. -

If I were an NFL owner I would need to see a lot more from Daboll at the moment. The offense is drastically improved this year, but just from a results stand point this is an anomaly in his career production. A second year showing the same consistency in passing attack and revamping the run game in the offseason, and I would be willing to pull the trigger. -
What's going on with the Betting Line in Bills/Chargers?
Mango replied to Casey D's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hell, this season alone the chargers have not lost by more than a single possession. If 538 was a betting line I would jump on the Chargers to cover all day. -
