  1. Eagles could drop about 1/3 of that by dropping/trading Ertz. The dude counts $12M against the cap this year.
  2. I don’t know a ton about his play at TN, but OTC has his value at about $2M. That can’t be right, right?
  3. Thats wild. Their entire OL is gone. RIP Derek Carr
  4. Things seem to be quite regarding the last of the unsigned. I know we didn’t tender Wallace and gave him an offer. Doesn’t sound like there is too much noise around those guys. Granted, there was no noise about Nsekhe until he signed with Dallas. So we shall see. If I am a lower tier guy, I probably try and sign pretty quick if I can, or take my home club offer. Weird year for spending, seems like spending will absolutely plummet after teams start to sign guys.
  5. A couple of things here: -Eagles may be taking their time to deal (or not deal) Ertz for what they see as proper compensation. BUT to get the value they want, whatever team trades for him will probably want a longer term deal and help their cap situation in order to give up what Philly is looking for. -Ertz may not need an extension for a trade, but whatever team gives up picks probably does. Given the cap situation this year and Ertz contract, I can’t see Ertz moving and/or Philly getting enough value back, without an extension/restructure.
  6. I was thinking that this AM. Overall they were pedestrian. Not absolutely terrible by league standards. This is a very different roster this year. Hoping Cam still sucks.
  7. I hope the NFL releases a “Fitz Bundle” for jerseys. Take all my money.
  8. Sort of where I am at. Wallace needs to be upgraded. But he’s also pretty cheap at the moment. 2 years $5M isn’t a terribly expensive safety net. We spend way more than that on back ups all over the field. I would have tendered.
  9. Not just wants to. It’s the responsible choice. For the sake of this conversation, Over the cap has Wallace valued at something like $2.3M. Taking $1.9M because Buffalo, he wants to be here. I get this concept for higher paid players. But for a guy coming off an UDFA money, that extra $1.2M over the course of a 3 year deal, is the difference between you needing to go work for Geico to help yourself kids through college and being able to provide for your family until you die. For a dude like Wallace; that money gets stretched a lot further than say Watt signing somewhere for $3M less per year
  10. Eh, yes and no. The Pats did what worked for Welker. But if I recall correctly, Welker came off a pretty decent year for like a WR4 with MIA the year before. NE didn’t transition him to WR either, Miami did.
  11. It actually sounds like @Sherlock Holmesis pretty loose these days.
  12. I vaguely remember some sort of loan or insurance for salaries before the season started. Do you have a link for the $26-30M you are talking about? I can’t dig anything up. From the article you linked, it only mentions paying back anything borrowed over $180M agreed upon floor. By this article, the NFLPA will proportionately eat a couple of bucks.
  13. I couple vague memories when I was super young and going to peoples houses with my parents and everybody ignoring me. But as I came of age, one of the first games ever actually sitting through with my dad, I was about 7. I couldn’t tell you who we were playing but it was definitely December. I asked why 78 wasn’t wearing long sleeves when it was cold and snowing. My dad said “that’s Bruce Smith, he’s so tough he doesn’t get cold”. I said I want to be like Bruce Smith and my dad went outside with me and let me run around in shorts, T-shirt, and boots, in the snow in the yard. Bruce Smith has been my favorite Bill since then. Although Josh and Tre are catching up quickly now that I am 34. Tre is a national treasure.
  14. Yeah, I don’t get the Shaq hate on this one. Houston is a mess at the moment, but this deal does not seem to be part of that dysfunction. Looks like a pretty even trade and both teams fixed some need.
  15. Probably right of first refusal. He’s played well enough to keep around but not well enough to get a big contract IMO. I think with a normal cap, you could place a 1st or 2nd round tender, but I don’t think he gets $4M in 2021. In that situation I might put a 2nd on him. I don’t think $3.4M is a totally outlandish value in most years. But in 2021, I am not sure many, if any, teams come and try and offer that. Unsure though, that cost is still pretty low for decent CB depth, and this FA feels like it might be the haves vs. the have nots. Over the cap has Wallace valued at about 2.3M, which is about the value of right of refusal designation of $2.1M.
  16. I thought he was an RFA, so I sort of kicked the fan down the road on that.
  17. Agreed. A huge portion of a jump going forward will be the TV deals, which are reportedly making a leap. Plus stadium revenue. I would have to dig it up, but the editor of Spotrac was quoted saying he thought the cap could jump to something like $220M in 2022. Right now the site is a little more conservative, projecting $209M. That puts the Bills cap at about $33M. If it goes to $220M the Bills have $44M in space. I should note, these are all pre-Mongo numbers. I aired on the high side, but still within the range. Just looking at the FA list, I think this is a much harder year for us than next year. Basically Philips, Wallace, Edmunds, and Allen. I don’t think Phillips and Wallace command much money. Edmunds is still a ??? for me in regards to what his contract value is/will be, especially given the value of Milano’s new contract. I can’t imagine dumping $25M per year into the production we go in 2020.
  18. We could be looking at a salary cap increase next year of 30+ mil. If anything, I take that opportunity to front load a deal for Allen so you can keep stocking talent as our starters age out of current contracts. I think the Bills should have $40-ish mil in space next year.
  19. I mean your reason is/write up was Jenkins because you think he projects well at RT in this offense. The Bills just signed their starting RT to a 3 year deal. Had you said, “he can play OG or OT, the Bills have concerns at both depending on how they manage FA. Jenkins fills a couple needs” you would have been much closer.
  20. I think Pat McAfee came into the league as an UDFA place kicker. Then learned to punt since he could boom it. Then later was asked to learn to directional punt rather than crank it.
  21. I could be wrong, but I think that is illegal. Not only should Brown fire him, Brown could sue him.
  22. If only there was a thread dedicated to this very subject....
  23. Right, it’s a gator in Florida, I just assume it’s like deer season up here. It’s necassary to thin the herd a bit so they don’t over populate. The only thing I’ll say is, I hope he cleans and eats it. I have no issues with hunting to put food on your table. I hate hunting for the sake of getting ahead mounted on your mantle, and the rest goes to waste. On a similar note, Old Forge has had bear issues on and off over the years. Especially in the years after they closed down the dumps. Anytime a bear broke into a car, there’d be a push for rangers to come and track and kill it. We had a place up there for years, and still head up regularly to camp. The solution to bears breaking into your car, or camp, or hurting your dog, is to not go and hang out in the bears home. It should be an assumed risk. For years there was a bear that would eat out of a dumpster at a bar on 4th lake, then swim across to Alger Island, do a lap around the sites, and then swim back. Things are getting tough up there for bears. I was hiking a few years ago, and a guy out his pack down to go grab some water. A very skinny mom and cubs popped out and tore it up about 20 feet away from us. We were on a trail and had no idea they were near by. Black bears almost always keep their distance unless they are in a world of hurt for food.
  24. I think we sort of just hold our collective breaths that he stays healthy. If he does, it’s a great signing. If he doesn’t, I would think we hate this deal in 2022 because we’re stuck with it; but there may be an out in 2023. Just my guess.
