  1. He’s my least favorite player on defense at the moment. With Spector not that far behind.
  2. He allows 72% completion and 111 passer rating. He cannot cover. In fact I think he’s second on the team in tackles because his coverage skills suck so bad.
  3. The key will be the offense scoring early and often.
  4. I wasn’t talking about the most recent adjustment. Von was restructured before the start of the 2023 season. That was dumb.
  5. Vons restructure in 2023 wasn’t a paycut. It moved money from base salary to bonus and made him nearly impossible to move on from for another 2 seasons when we should have had an out already.
  6. Isn’t the rumor a high ankle sprain? In which case “He just needs treatment” is not really true.
  7. He’s basically a net neutral next year. He’s $15M on the roster and $15M off the roster in 2025. Millers restructure in 2023 was a terrible decision and the reason Von is still on the roster today. Had he not restructured I think he gets cut already. But instead we keep reworking his deal.
  8. I believe it’s up to the player not the team. Also this is not Vons first run in with domestic violence. But it is under the leagues most recent rules around suspensions. There might be a chance that Von it doesn’t get reduced based on previous incidents. And in that case it’s still a 4 game suspension kicked down the road.
  9. Dead name that POS. Puff Daddy.
  10. Wasnt McManus just cleared? Seems as though there is some review calendar as wonky as it may be.
  11. Hamlin certainly has issues with his game, and as a S he has a lot more responsibility compared to outside DB's in diagnosing plays all over the field plus stopping the run. But in the pass game he has been decent when targeted. Opposing QBs are 6/13, 83 yards, 1 INT. I was shocked he's been targeted so infrequently. But like OP mentioned, he takes terrible angle's and isn't a great tackler. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/H/HamlDa00.htm
  12. I honestly thought McD was going to take over play calling even before the half. I am surprised he didn't. McD has stopped Lamar a bunch and he never did it by doubling down on the pass but giving up the run. He did it by taking away Lamar's legs and making him beat him down field. My takeaway is that he doesn't trust his current back 7 as much as he has trusted them in past years.
  13. I like DW because his game speed is fast and he is aggressive. He has a tendency to overcommit, leaving him out of position at times, especially in zone. It feels like if he can keep that speed up, but slow down the game a little bit he could be a good piece to the LB corp and allow us to do more 3LB sets with Milano, Bernard, and Williams.
  14. I agree with you about Bernard. I should clarify, I don't think Williams has arrived, But I do think he is nice piece to the LB unit as of today. I will disagree with your take on Williams, or at least how you got there. LB's almost always lead their teams and the lead in tackles. I think Spector has been picked on but most games have gotten so out of hand it doesn't really matter. Similar to Cam Lewis who has been really bad. Like REALLLY bad. (Opposing QBs are 18/25 (72%) 216 yards (12 yards per comp/8.6 yards per target), 1 TD and a 111 Passer Rating.) Either way, the current LB unit is a huge liability at the moment, but I am fairly high on Dorian Williams ceiling. I think that with our young/new S corp and NCB, the DL is looking worse than it is.
  15. Our LB’s have been a huge liability. I’m a fan of Williams and think he can be a player. I do not like Spector. I don’t love our pass rushers either. I think they’re just OK.
  16. I don’t think he lost a step. At least not in some meaningful way. But Josh’s longevity was always going to be dependent on his ability to throw the ball from the pocket and be opportunistic with his legs. As he pushes 30 this will start to become drastically more important. Guys who play the game like Josh cannot survive in the league playing that way forever.
  17. Our current starting DBs: Hamlin: 4.59 Rapp: 4.74 Benford: 4.46 Douglas: 4.59 Lewis: 4.51 Not super slow. But it seems some have slow game speed.
  18. Crazy enough Ingram was the one catching up and his 40 time is 4.6. Crazy enough, Cam Lewis who ran a 4.5 at his pro day couldn’t catch him and was being chased down by his bigger and “slower” teammate Ja’Marcus Ingram (4.65). I’m just not a fan of Cam Lewis. Great story. Go UB Bulls! A nice utility knife to have in the tool box. But I don’t like him starting…like at all.
  19. Also, some draws would have been nice.
  20. She certainly is. But I wouldn’t mind Miami giving Poyer a friendly vet cut and bringing him back in the building to finish the season/his career. Even if it is a back up role.
  21. The issue is that we have way too much turnover in the back 7. Damar Hamlin isn’t just starting he’s lining up the secondary. The same with Spector. There are zero players capable of taking on that role right now. Zero. Then on top of all that we have Cam Lewis getting abused. Allowing 72% completion, 12 yards per target, and 8 yards per completion. Without Taron, Milano, and Bernard, we need Hyde to get these kids in place live/pre-snap.
  22. I have not been a fan of Lewis/Spector this year. I’m no football X’s and O’s guru like some here but by my eye they have been flirting with being a liability based on instincts and ability to read and react properly. They have been bailed out a few times by players around them and a couple opportunistic turnovers. I said it in another thread, Cam Lewis is 2nd in tackles. He’s our nickel corner. His job isn’t just to tackle the pass catcher. He’s allowed to defend passes too. He hasn't been good when targeted. Opposing QB’s are 18/25 (72%), 1 TD, and a 102 Passer Rating against Lewis. Again, I think he’d be a better NCB with a better LB and S Corp around him. Edit: For reference, I have also been critical of Spector. PFF has him at a 40 on the season. lol.
  23. The article almost reads like AI. It’s weird. But to the point. I don’t have an issue with almost anything the article pointed out at LB/Edge. I am really curious WTF was going on in the secondary. I know Rapp went out but it seems so weirdly muddled there. Elam only getting 3 snaps is so strange to me as well. He had a very good camp and a great preseason. I’ve noticed when he’s come in some of our blow outs he’s certainly popped off the screen as a “not scrub” amongst the scrubs. I would be curious to move Douglas to safety and put Elam on the outside.
  24. Totally agreed on the Houston point for both players, coaches, and the FO vision for this years team. I also think Lewis, Spector, and Hamlin are too much for this defense to absorb consistently. The other 8 guys have to play at a really high level to make those 3 effective. One misread, slip, etc and those guys get exposed.
  25. While I don’t totally disagree, Hamlin also has the mic which means he’s calling the defense for the secondary. I assume it’s because McD doesn’t trust another safety to do it/other guys are struggling to do it. Athleticism aside I think this team is missing the football IQ on the defensive side to have somebody reliable lining them up. We have two backups QB’ing the defense. I think this is the biggest reason to bring Hyde back in sooner rather than later. (If willing)
