Also, you don’t lose to Mahomes because he rushes for 100+ yards. He’s not Allen or Lamar in that way. If Mahomes is racking up rushing yards over and over again, more oft than not it’s because teams are taking away the pass. If your secondary isn’t disciplined in their coverage when PM is on the move you’re going to have a bad time. I will take my chances having Mahomes rush for 150 rather than taking a guy out of coverage to account for him.

Technically you’re correct but that’s misleading. Your original post was along the lines of “spent a $100M on a handful of starters and get shredded by Josh”. OK. Sure. They won. And they were one of the very best defenses in the league through the back half of the season. We have $2M in space and 53 on the roster after signing a million players to futures. But we’re talking about how to get a new starting CB, DT, DE, LB, OG and slot receiver with that money. We might lose our starting center to retirement or cap causalty. While totally unsure if we can keep some of our top DE, DT, CB, and slot wide receivers. Meanwhile KC has more space and is pretty locked in at their starting front 7, OL, WR, and TE. KC seems like they are in a spot to sign a lot of depth players for cheap, because that’s where most of their needs are. Buffalo is trying upgrade like 7 starting positions with $2M.

And yet the Chiefs have more space this year and next than Buffalo…

Ken Dorsey - would he choose OC here or leave to be Daboll's OC?
Mango replied to Heavy Kevi's topic in The Stadium Wall
Professionally it would be silly. Why would you want your first stop as an OC to be at an org tied to an arrow pointing downward like NYG? The real question becomes, what if some of the Chicago rumors are true re: Dungy and Frazier. If they make that hire before Daboll to NYG or MIA, then I think in that situation you run the risk of losing both. -
Looks like the call to squib may not have made it to Bass
Mango replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall
I have been wondering, with Pringle back deep, was Hill on the field at all? Could Tyreek have been shallow in the event of a squib or short kick? -
Meh. Normally I’m pro our rivals getting their teeth kicked in. But after a game like Sunday I wouldn’t mind KC just cruising through. It would pretty much solidify us as the second best team in the league. I do think it will be tough for any team to get up for another game after the one we just saw Sunday.

I actually think a big help would have been going for the 4th and short earlier in the 4th. The D was gassed. They needed a break and the offense had momentum. Converting even to punt a few minutes later would have done wonders for their rest. Feliciano may be on that list. But he’s pretty cheap. Darryl Williams possibly? He’s a bit expensive but was an asset at OG.

I came to read the comments. I don’t have it in me yet to click play. A buddy texted me today, “check out the coverage on this play”. I couldn’t do it. Just sort of feels like trying to throw out your ex’s stuff when you have a blind sided break up. Just can’t do it yet. My rebound chick is FA and cap management. As far as I am concerned the SB is over. It was played Sunday night. The two best teams of maybe the last decade just beat the shirt out of each other for 4.5 quarters. The best over all defense in the league through 17 weeks vs. the best defense through the back half of the season. Neither could slow down the top 2 QB’s on the planet for 4.5 hours. Everything else is basically WWE marketing and promo material as far as I am concerned. I can’t relive the heart break yet.

$2.8M Bills Cap Space (after signing Reserve/Futures)

I guess. But I still know. And that’s enough for me. I’m an irrational arse. -
$2.8M Bills Cap Space (after signing Reserve/Futures)
Mango replied to ColoradoBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think the smart move long term is to treat FA with a “don’t lose ground” approach. Keep and restructure who we need to to make sure the OL, DB, and DL groups don’t get worse. We absolutely NEED more impact week 1 from our top 100 picks. Oliver is becoming really disruptive. Philips is better than the JAG designation he had a year or two ago. Basham has come on late (kind of), Rousseau has been OK. But we need guys picked as top 100 college players to enter the league and be more disruptive in their performance. -
$2.8M Bills Cap Space (after signing Reserve/Futures)
Mango replied to ColoradoBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
Will do. I love my fake internet points. I actually don’t use the “agree” button ever. It doesn’t give anybody their +1. I am fully aware that that is a completely absurd thing to do. But whatever. Ha -
$2.8M Bills Cap Space (after signing Reserve/Futures)
Mango replied to ColoradoBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
I would like one more year of Morse with somebody in the middle of the draft to develop for a year. But we do have some room here. Feliciano has filled in at center well (serviceable?) in the past. So Mitch taking care of his brain wouldn’t break the OL. Holistically I agree on the above. Our current FA and cap situation is basically a ton of guys we would love to keep around, but no must haves. It will be a balancing act this year for sure. I think this is one of those tipping points some franchises run into. I don’t know why but it feels like margin for error this year with our FA group, restructures, and the draft, is razor thin. More so than usual. -

We can definitely make some room. Next years FA is important. Knox, Singletary, Poyer, 5th year for Oliver. When we restructure 2022, it will pull from 2023. Id prefer to open enough space to resign our own. Maybe a couple depth signings. But I’d hate to restructure in a year where McK and Philips are our biggest decisions, and be in a spot where keeping Knox, Poyer, and Ed eat up our entire space. The key is McBean getting more immediate production out of top 100 picks this year. -
So that makes some sense. Basically exchange the Beasley contract for Gesicki. I could be convinced.
-
I like the idea of Gesicki, but I think bringing him in means we do not re-sign Knox next year. I am seeing reports of $10-$13M per year for MG. I wouldn't hate it, but Knox is an important part of this team and locker room. I don't think the FO is willing to move from him just to have both TE's for 2022.

I saw this yesterday. If you go through all his tweets on this. He is saying Dorsey is Dabolls first choice. But he also says the Bills love Dorsey and he expects him to be in Buffalo. Retweeted by Marino: Dorsey stays in Buffalo. Shocked if Dorsey makes it to BUF

McDermott should say he took over defensive play calling the last 2mins
Mango replied to Rigotz's topic in The Stadium Wall
I agree with all the above. But to the bolded about getting home. We do seem to consistently fall short. Sunday's game however felt like a containment issue rather than Mahomes being squirmy. We would get guys up the middle, but then there is no DE to keep him in side. Or the left side would win their battle and the right side would be nothing but green grass. Really frustrating. -
Like the third topic on their subreddit is about giving props to JA17. So different than their forum.

Giants/Schoen interview Daboll for HC
Mango replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
No mention of Dorsey, which I like. Shoen scheduled a presser for Wednesday late morning. I assumed this would be getting done shortly. Hoping we keep some continuity with Dorsey staying in house. -
Upon further review...was Bass supposed to pop the kick up?
Mango replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall
His answers feel weird by McD standards to me. Feels like something was not quite right. At first I thought maybe he gave Farwell enough rope to hang himself with. But I also maybe thought when he kept mentioning execution, that a lot went wrong in those 13 seconds, focusing on the kick is meh. But maybe it was on Bass. We will never know. Unless of course Farwell gets fired. Then we will know. -
Giants/Schoen interview Daboll for HC

I know I keep pounding this drum, but people are wild to ask for the Pegula’s to fire either part of McBean for any reason other than a million bad seasons in a row. That’s without even talking about the fact that in back to back years the Bills were in the AFCCG then played what a lot of people are calling the greatest football game of all time against the very best team in the league. We just witnessed Ali v. Frazier. The Pegula’s are working their way into the Mount Rushmore of worst owners in NHL history. The Sabres are historically bad under Terry and Kim. And people want to can the HC and let them start over? I would rather sign a 10 year deal with Jeff Fisher than let the Pegula’s try to rebuild the Bills. That’s not hyperbole. -

Sorry, my bad. Just one guy, Cam Marino from rotoworld. He doubles back and says Dorsey his Dabolls first choice, but the Bills love Dorsey too. Expectation is Dorsey is calling plays for Allen and Co. -

I would hope the franchise has an internal contingency plan. If Allen is preferring Dorsey, I would hope they have had the conversation with him already and they do t over think it. -

I don’t know if anybody made anybody. But they did at least grow together. For every 1% that Allen is good, it doesn’t make Daboll 1% bad. It’s not a pie. -

Question. I am still reading that Daboll is bringing Dorsey. I know the Bills can’t block it. But if Dorsey were to leave, it would be his own decision, correct? He would effectively be turning down the Bills OC job then, right?
