This is the second SB in a row where the host city is also playing. Not sure that’s happened before. Wild.
-
This ended better than I could have hoped. I didn’t want the Chiefs to get rolled. It meant we battled a team we should’ve beat handily if we wanted to go to the SB. But the Chiefs were the much better team for a good portion of this game and had a total melt down. They let it get away. All that said. It was going to be tough for any team to get back up after that epic divisional game. As an athlete/team you only get a couple goes down the track with that kind intensity. It’s not sustainable.

I just keep thinking about all the posts about the AFC being a QB gauntlet. As long as Beane doesn’t botch roster management the next few years, it will be Allen vs. Mahomes for eternity. “Burrow is amazing”…scores 3 points….

This game just looks like when you’re a kid and you have to let your little brother play madden with you.

Ken Dorsey - would he choose OC here or leave to be Daboll's OC?
Mango replied to Heavy Kevi's topic in The Stadium Wall
He also has two different posts claiming that the Bills v KC game was rigged for entertainment. At this rate we are 5 offseason posts away from him organizing a raid on local pizza places to save the children. -

Why do you even join a message board? You don’t know more than anybody about anything when it comes to any aspect of running an NFL franchise. -
I think the taunting penalty is dumb for a bunch of reasons. One is that it’s football. The other is that is is subjectively enforced differently in the same game. But this one makes me really mad. The penalty literally exists because of Tyreek and the peace sign. If you don’t flag him for that, WTF is the point of ever throwing a flag. In this instance, really want the flag because of TH history with the rule. But I also want the rule to go away.

Why stop with “would you sign Gronk?” We could have other threads like“If you could sign Mahomes to back up Allen, would you?”
-
Haven’t read the entire thread. But Gronk has said over and over that he won’t play with a QB that isn’t Brady. Gronk is done.

Right, if it were as simple as Dorsey leaving for a promotion. Fine. But I am working under the assumption that the Bills offered the same promotion to work with one of the very best offenses in the NFL. And then Dorsey chose a bad Giants team with negative cap space and your QB is Daniel Jones in what is rumored to be a bad QB class. -

I have thought it would be so stupid for Dorsey to go to NYG when he has Josh. But the rumors seem to be heating up. If Dorsey leaves after Josh specifically asked for him to stay to the press, I would have to start scratching the itch that questions how happy some of the staff are under McD. That said, we have the most important piece in place. Josh. -
It doesn’t close the window. It’s definitely still open a crack. But if you don’t pay the guy, you seal it with blocked glass. It’s not the QB pay that does it so much as the margin for error in the draft is narrow. If you can’t find key contributors regularly in the draft, you’ll have to over pay in FA.

Brian Daboll hired to be Head Coach of NY Giants
Mango replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall
Just like any of us in our jobs, sometimes people need the right situation to succeed. I think Daboll and Josh have been good for each other and are integral parts of each others journey to get where they are. That said, feels good to be a Bills fan in all of it. Having a top QB means I don’t worry about the OC hire, especially if we are able to keep it internal. I would be much more concerned if we had Carr, Tannehill, Cousins, or even Stafford. Josh just had a historical two playoff games. We will be fine. -
McD's Bills in postseason: 3-0 at Home, 0-4 Road.
Mango replied to Artem Lipatov's topic in The Stadium Wall
For all the post season hype we had, this is an important one for a lot of reasons. We had too many games this year where things just didn't work out our way. 2020 was the opposite. A lot went right to make that season work. Less concerned about winning those games to clinch homefield, and more concerned with minimizing those games so that 0:13 doesn't happen again. -
Urban Meyer - "Worst experience in my professional life“

Can't wait for the Pegula's to grace us with presence of their NFL versions of Ron Rolston, Ted Nolan, Dan Bylsma, Phil Housley, Ralph Gruger, Don Granato and Kevyn Adams. I don't trust the Pegula's to upgrade the coach. I also think McD is very good. Is he HOF? I don't know. But I think he is hall of very good. Things can go south very quickly. Thinking of those SD teams moving on from Shottenheimer because of 14-2 and playoff loses, only to become completely irrelevant with a great QB. -
I actually like that he doesn't. But I cannot turn on the TV without seeing Mahomes or Rodgers in a new commercial. I just can't imagine being a star NFL QB with all the demand to watch film and be at practice, then try and squeeze in time for a Hulu or State Farm commercial a few days a week? And for what, a couple mil here, a couple mil there? Allen is about to make $250M in the next few years, endorsement money is a fraction of that. I would most definitey protect my rest for the betterment of my team, career, mental/physical health, and winning a Super Bowl. Just does not seem worth it at that point.

This should qualify for FMLA, correct?

In that scenario Herbert and Carr don’t matter. It’s a two horse race. At this point in their careers the best Herbert and Carr can do is maybe still a game from KC, and hope to win more games with a stumble from KC. In Buffalo the dude was picking up random guys at Tim Hortons on the way to practice to start. Thad Lewis started 5 games off the street for the Bills. Not calling Hackey some miracle worker or savant but he was never as trash as some have made him seem.

Nathaniel Hackett is getting 2nd interview with Jags🤣🤣
Mango replied to BuffaloBills1998's topic in The Stadium Wall
A lot of weird hate here. He got some production out of QB’s he grabbed from his stop at Tim Hortons in the morning. -
I have been pounding this drum for a bit. Some players have gotten better than I thought like Philips. Although he still won’t be expensive. But investing so heavily in the DE without a very good pass rush, plus Singletary then Moss. Now the fan base is split on Edmunds after next season. It’s too many misses with top 100 picks. It has to get better if this run from the Bills is to be sustainable.

“We can smile today because we have Josh Allen”
Mango replied to JohnNord's topic in The Stadium Wall
Here is a wild concept. Nathan Peterman is a better QB than every poster on this board… Shut it all down! I am still critical of Allen some weeks. I don’t know that anybody “got it wrong” about Allen. The dude is an absolute unicorn. His trajectory defies basically anything anybody else has ever done in pro football. He’s had moments and even stretches where he was very bad. Other teams are going to replicate Allen in the next few years, and it’s going to set franchises back years and years. They’ll end up sticking with a guy who was never very good, through a bunch of bad play. Only to come out the other side with a really bad QB. -
That’s actually a wildly forward statement for a GM about a player still under contract for the next few years. Sheesh. Some weird Dustin Hopkins-Taiwan Jones hybrid. What an exciting time to be alive!

Mango replied to JohnNord's topic in The Stadium Wall
Dude, it’s part of being a fan. Of course we aren’t qualified to question a GM, coach, scout, player, etc. about football. None of us do any real scouting. Sorry, these takes are sort of a pet peeve of mine. OK cool. I guess I’ll just sit here all apathetic towards everything. Why even join a message board if your believe the “you don’t know more than the coach route”? I didn’t like Vlad Ducasse but he’s better at football than I am. Not to mention McBeane brought him in. So I guess I won’t question it, or have an opinion. We aren’t building bridges. Sports fandom is a relative hobby with no real life consequences. Let people have their fun.
