Streaming services. Everybody is increasing the cost on everything largely because they can. Don’t get me wrong. They’re are supply chain issues. I deal with a ton of very common manufacturers daily for work. They’re increasing pricing by 20% quarter after quarter without any inventory constraints just because others do have some bottleneck. A ton of very popular brands have had record profitability during the pandemic by laying people off and cutting out T&E while consistently raising prices. Basically slashing expenses and price gouging. Its not great.

This is my take. The Rooney rule isn't perfect. But teams will most certainly avoid BIPOC without. So without a clear improvement on the Rooney rule, I can’t imagine moving on from it. That said. I think Schoen locked in on Daboll as well. I don’t think Schoen did anything wrong himself. But at scale, this is most certainly an issue for BIPOC candidates.

Wait, what? Evans bank was charged with redlining and settled in 2015. Trustmark National Bank just settled a few months ago. The fact that the federal government had to charge lenders with said violations in recent local history would prove that institutional racism exists. And it exists based on the the standards you just set in this post.

This makes it sound like we ran 11 personnel based on QB deficiency. Or at least makes it sound like Allen needs to be coached how to run it. But like....did Nolan watch our OL for the first 80% of the season? It was a major liability. Josh may very well need to improve here, but erring on the side of heavy sets seemed have been needed based on OL issues, not QB play....

I think the league has a real problem with minority representation at all levels. Black coaches are given a much shorter leash and are required to have more success to maintain job security. The Rooney rule may not be the best solution, but you can't just waive it away. The sport is and has been dominated by BIPOC for quite some time, but the executives continue to be oddly pale. Until you have a better replacement other than "JuSt HiRe ThE bEsT cAnDiDaTe" it is the only real tool in the tool box. Flores may very well be right here and I am probably side with him. But in court this will be a tough one. Unless Schoen put in writing somewhere that they wanted to give multiple interviews to Flores and Frazier in order to give the perception of fairness, he will have a tough time winning this. If Schoen did put it in writing his career as a GM is over before it started. I view things like this sort of like redlining. It is most certainly illegal. And it most certainly continues to happen. But the burden of proof needed to prosecute is so astronomically high/avoidable by companies/lenders that it is really difficult to move on legally.

Honestly, just sub out Davenport for Andre Johnson. Even then you have to sub somebody out to get 5 OL out there, or a TE has to line up on the line and declare as eligible. Wild to think about.

This ended better than I could have hoped. I didn’t want the Chiefs to get rolled. It meant we battled a team we should’ve beat handily if we wanted to go to the SB. But the Chiefs were the much better team for a good portion of this game and had a total melt down. They let it get away. All that said. It was going to be tough for any team to get back up after that epic divisional game. As an athlete/team you only get a couple goes down the track with that kind intensity. It’s not sustainable.

I just keep thinking about all the posts about the AFC being a QB gauntlet. As long as Beane doesn’t botch roster management the next few years, it will be Allen vs. Mahomes for eternity. “Burrow is amazing”…scores 3 points….

I think he probably stays. It depends on his contract. I sense something slightly above average. In the 8-10th most expensive TE range. Maybe only 2-3 years so he can cash in again.

I think the taunting penalty is dumb for a bunch of reasons. One is that it’s football. The other is that is is subjectively enforced differently in the same game. But this one makes me really mad. The penalty literally exists because of Tyreek and the peace sign. If you don’t flag him for that, WTF is the point of ever throwing a flag. In this instance, really want the flag because of TH history with the rule. But I also want the rule to go away.

Why stop with “would you sign Gronk?” We could have other threads like“If you could sign Mahomes to back up Allen, would you?”

Haven’t read the entire thread. But Gronk has said over and over that he won’t play with a QB that isn’t Brady. Gronk is done.

Right, if it were as simple as Dorsey leaving for a promotion. Fine. But I am working under the assumption that the Bills offered the same promotion to work with one of the very best offenses in the NFL. And then Dorsey chose a bad Giants team with negative cap space and your QB is Daniel Jones in what is rumored to be a bad QB class.

I have thought it would be so stupid for Dorsey to go to NYG when he has Josh. But the rumors seem to be heating up. If Dorsey leaves after Josh specifically asked for him to stay to the press, I would have to start scratching the itch that questions how happy some of the staff are under McD. That said, we have the most important piece in place. Josh.

It doesn’t close the window. It’s definitely still open a crack. But if you don’t pay the guy, you seal it with blocked glass. It’s not the QB pay that does it so much as the margin for error in the draft is narrow. If you can’t find key contributors regularly in the draft, you’ll have to over pay in FA.

Just like any of us in our jobs, sometimes people need the right situation to succeed. I think Daboll and Josh have been good for each other and are integral parts of each others journey to get where they are. That said, feels good to be a Bills fan in all of it. Having a top QB means I don’t worry about the OC hire, especially if we are able to keep it internal. I would be much more concerned if we had Carr, Tannehill, Cousins, or even Stafford. Josh just had a historical two playoff games. We will be fine.
