NFL Week #3 - Bills at the Dolphins - Post game thread
Mango replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
The team got beat on multiple occasions with misdirection and play recognition. Which is where Poyer and Hyde excel. I was pleased with them in coverage today. -

One thing I learned today is that this team is not ready for life without both Poyer and Hyde. I think we can manage without one for some time. But Johnson/Hamlin can’t direct traffic and don’t have the play recognition skills those guys have. I get it. One game. But still. -

Not that it really matters in the loss. The Bills just didn’t hold up their end of the bargain today given all the injuries. But how the hell was Tua allowed to come back in? If that were any of us no doctor would let me even look at my phone for 24 hours let alone play NFL football. -

Learns from what? The defense was missing half its starters. A total back up secondary and interior OL. We played third string players on the OL. Diggs and Davis are hobbled. Today wasn’t a situation where the team took Miami for granted. It was a preseason team vs. a 2-0 NFL team. -

I actually thought coverage was serviceable today. We got worked with a lot of misdirection which comes down to Poyer and Hyde. As far as straight physical play I thought the secondary did “OK” -

What a wild game. I’ve never seen anything like it. I have to assume this game is a blow out with a healthy Diggs Davis First or Second team center Bates Oliver Philips Poyer White Jackson -
I was pretty bullish that Poyer would play this week. And I was pretty confident that Davis would go last week. Tuesday AM I took Buffalo to win and hammered the over. Based on my track record, I’m going to switch my bet to Miami -12.5 You’re welcome guys.

Nothing good happens when you bring another Johnson to the party.

Tua is the potential MVP candidate…and Buffalo is on the road. Got it. Buffalo Bills trolling their own team. I love it. I imagine that’ll add a chip to their shoulder.
-
I think Lewis Hamilton rolls his eyes at Diggs outfits. Is he wearing a smock today? Maybe do some finger-painting on the plane?
-
Before the Von signing I’ve been vocal that I think Poyer is the most important piece to the defense. He’s been lights out in the pass game and doesn’t get some of the national accolades because he covers up some of Edmunds early deficiencies in play recognition.

I think safety was our safety blanket for managing significant time with a rookie statue CB. Losing Hyde hurts that and creates a little more urgency around Tre coming back IMO.

Blue Jerseys, White Pants for Miami. AKA, Tua's spanking uniform.

All this talk of injuries heading into Miami. These team is blowing people out in blue pants. This game won't be fair with buffalo in white. Mark it down fellas! -

I didn’t cut anybody. There was almost nobody there. I was shocked: I must have just missed the rush. -

Triggered much? He’s probably just some engineer, or mailman, or salesperson who also coaches his kids team. Basically no different than anybody here. -
Oliver, Philips, Hyde all out against the Dolphins.

Did you hear it in a high level business meeting? -
I agree. I’m not a huge fan of her must, but she’s clearly hyper talented. Don’t get me wrong, I like her bops. Don’t love it for the SB for the same reasons I didn’t like The Who or Coldplay, etc. I like the halftime show to be a tamed down hype video or entrance song. Last years halftime show was incredible!

I think there is a good chance that this was made by a family member of mine just figuring out how to use message boards. -

Ok, but did you hear about the stadium renderings? -
Oliver being listed as out isn’t helpful. And really has me thinking through some things. Ultimately a week 3 Dolphins game is relatively meaningless to me. We have bigger fish to fry (no pun intended). I’d rather these guys be as close to 100% in January than limp through a season and hobble through the playoffs.

Jesus. I went through Gate 5 and it was super smooth. Maybe around 6:15? Waited 5 minutes. Standard operating procedure though. Empty pockets. Through the metal detectors. Scan ticket. -
Ugh, it is like I post one thing, and it's like "what about this", I post another and it is "what about that". You are quoting my response to a poster who claimed I didn't address scheme properly in my previous post. Holistically, both scheme and personnel matter. That is a given. Clearly we have a deficiency in the backfield. Also a given. The Dolphins are a bit of an issue with match ups at the moment, obviously. But to answer your question, I trust Josh to be able to put up 40 against Miami if he absolutely has to. So I start there and work back. In a game where Buffalo puts up say, 35 points, do I think Miami matches? No, that would involve a high volume, stretch the field passing attack. And in that scenario I trust our front 7 to allow less than 35 points. Daquan Jones and Von Miller are both 10th and 2nd in the league in pass rush win rate. If the Dolphins want to air it out, I think the DL cover a lot of deficiencies. If they want to dink and dunk, they won't be able to keep up on the scoreboard.
