I would rather give a multi year OBJ valued contract to Poyer. We know his value to this roster. We don’t know what OBJ will bring.
-
I would dislike. The Bills have 20+ FA with important pieces to replace/re-sign like Edmunds, Poyer, and Morse. We lose 3 of our starting OL and a good portion of our DL depth. Not to mention we have zero space next year. Signing Beckham to a multi year deal at a starting WR price feels irresponsible. TL;DR If we grab Beckham on a multi year deal and draft a new starting MLB and/or S in the first only to ignore other position groups, I will be pissed.

This was my thought. Also it looks like his knee is down before his elbow hits or ball moves. So by rule, at that point the play is over. I posted earlier, that I think part of the reason the league makes you "survive the ground" is because if that happens in bounds there are only a few options. Catch, fumble, incompletion. 2/3 are bad. So the league gives no credit one way or the other since the play cannot finish OOB.

A ball can move when caught in bounds though, that isn't problem. I "think" the issue is that when the ball moves in bounds there are three possible outcomes if the ball moves, catch, incomplete, fumble. I am guess that the league thought is that because 2 of the 3 possible outcomes are "not a catch/possession", that when it happens OOB they air on the side 2/3 rather than 1/3?

Poll: Which 2023 free agent do you want to keep on the roster?
Mango replied to Lost's topic in The Stadium Wall
Poyer has proved his weight in gold and the current backups have already shown they aren't capable of keeping the defense running. Poyer is a must have next season, especially with 20+ FA on the roster. Edmunds has come into his own this year and is an integral piece. Would really like to keep him around with Milano. A big part of the reason we need to keep these guys is holes elsewhere. We have ripped through too many top 100 picks we haven't kept and/or needed to replace/upgrade. I don't think we keep Singletary, Moss is gone, redraft of Cook, AJE, Basham, then Groot, only to give huge money to Von and eat up both cap and draft picks. We can't keep going back to the well for the same position groups. We need to spend our top picks to fix new issues like everybody on OL with Morse being a FA and WR. I really don't want to use high picks on S or MLB right now. -
He ran a decent amount of routes tonight. He was open a few times underneath and Josh didn’t look his way. I don’t think Knox is a bad player. I don’t know his value as an individual. I think the lack of involvement is a combination of the QB not feeding him and the OC not having enough plays with him as the primary.

We are paying the piper a bit at the moment. We have a good roster so let me start there. But we are also paying for Singletary, Moss, Cook, Hines where we devoted 2x3rds, 1x2nd, and a 6th. At the end of the season we may (likely?) only have one of them on the roster and that is Cook. Hines has an out for $0 dead cap. Otherwise he is $4.7M and we are tight on cap so I don't think he is kept. That means we likely draft ANOTHER RB. You can rinse and repeat for DE/DL. AJE, Basham, Rousseau, then paying Von means we don't draft, extend, or sign multiple other players at other position groups. This group goes on much further than that when you factor in that we have had one of the highest paid DL in the league for 4-5 years with minimal return. 2 position groups alone are 3-5 top 100 picks and a big time pass rusher contract that could (should?) have been spent elsewhere if it weren't for striking out and redrafting.

Brady had a better OL a lot of the time and is a better pure passer than Josh. Agreed though, he is the goat. That said, I think that once a QB signs the dotted line on a mega-deal the expectation is that they elevate average receivers and average OL on a regular basis. I include guys like Rodgers when I say that. There is clearly some nuance with FO's and coaching, but there has to be some understanding that taking a significant portion of the cap comes with consequences. EDIT: This is where the FO trading Teller, or drafting a million RB's in the top 100, or pass rushers over and over again bites us. You lose an opportunity to upgrade another position when you start doubling up to make up for unmet expectations.

I thought Dane outplayed Wallace last season and the first part of this year. A few weeks ago he was allowing something like 49% completion and no touchdowns. Unsure what is going on. It seems as though with all the backups playing we are relying on more man (according to cover 1). Curious if Jackson is just struggling in man. I don't know how the Bills get by without Poyer next year. I think they have to find the money. He is worth his weight in gold at this point.

Would Cole Beasley come back to Buffalo?
Mango replied to Warriorspikes51's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think he’s absolutely toast. He was picked up by TB when they were a little banged up. He caught 4 balls for 17 yards. -
I’ve been pounding the table to get guys back in the building earlier. I understand that this game is tough and removing padded/contact practices makes sense. It I don’t get why these guys can’t be in the building full time May 1 running routes in shorts, hitting the sleds, and watching film. If I am the owners I’ll gladly tear out every field in the league and halve the contact/padded practices but require work in the facility.

This is where the Rubber meets the road for the AFC seeding
Mango replied to gonzo1105's topic in The Stadium Wall
Russ is the issue there right now. Hackett certainly needs to go. But that Russell Wilson trade and extension has ruined the franchise for years to come. -
It’s not about that, you’ve missed the point entirely. People you are referring by to are saying they’d rather be a healthy mid seed than a banged up 1 seed. We've seen this roster fire on all cylinders. That’s the priority. Full stop. Get the team back to that place and it won’t matter if we are the 7th seed. Risking the roster health to be a banged up 1 seed is worse than being a 100% 5 seed.

Is the 17-game schedule diminishing NFL play
Mango replied to SBbeliever's topic in The Stadium Wall
No. Honestly it’s the CBA. There isn’t enough practice and guys aren’t in the facility enough. I’d be willing to further cut padded/contact practices in half to get these guys back in house May 1 full time. That allows for more player development, better timing between QB/WR, better coverage skills from DB’s, etc. Plus the added benefit of consistent and unified strength, condition, body maintenance, and injury prevention. I am on the players side for most things between the league. But the lack of practice is hurting. -
Very disturbing to see how many fans have turned against Allen.
Mango replied to BuffaloBills1998's topic in The Stadium Wall
I’m not sure I’ve seen this anywhere. There has been. “Josh sucked.”, “bad QB play cost us the game today”, “Josh was bad on Sunday” etc. but “Josh sucks” is future. Like “Zac Wilson sucks”. Nobody is saying this. -
In Romo’s defense Dane Jackson out played Wallace by a significant margin the back half of last year and has been lights out until the last few weeks. A couple weeks ago he was allowing so thing like 48% completion rate, a 50 passer rating, and 1 TD. I am just sort of baffled as to WTF is going on with him two weeks in a row. He’s getting abused out there. At his current rate he needs to be replaced. But I’m really hoping he finds his game again. He’s not the only one though. It just feels like so many players on the team have lost their mojo. This team feels like the movie “Rookie of the Year”. We are just at the point where the kids arm goes back to normal.

Sure, some of it is adversity. But also some of it is that we just have bet been playing good football for a month now. I am slow to blame bad QB play on snowstorms and injuries when it started 2 weeks before any injuries.
-
Yes Josh is awesome, and likely will go down as the best Bill of all time. But when it comes to total touchdowns, Josh’s running is in addition to. Not in place of. It feels disingenuous to try and compete with a record set by Marino, one of the greatest pure passers of all time, by adding in rushing TD’s in a different era of football all together.

This week makes a lot of sense. 3-4 weeks prep from IR/PUP. I suspect he’ll be on a pitch count with a week to prep and recover for NE where he’ll be close to full go, then 10 days to see how the knee feels between NE and Miami. Theres a a high likelihood that the staff had this calendar as part of their possibilities.
-
This likely is not the case. I had a similar situation at a similar level. Cleared by doctors, but the injury still wasn’t right and it was effecting my body mechanics and was still causing pain. Coaches were the ones to keep pulling me. Not myself. But if he is, then it is what it is. You can’t force a guy to play at a high level in the NFL. I really like Tre the person and I wish him the best at wherever life takes him. He’s a human, not here for your entertainment. He’s was never a “take the money and run” kind of guy. He was the first guy to realty start to turn this ship around.

Once you sign your QB to the big contract you get your Diggs/Kelce and maybe another weapon if you’re lucky. Otherwise the expectation is that the QB starts to make the WR’s. I’m sorry what.

You sound like one of the worst leaders of people I could possibly imagine.
