  1. I think part of the back and forth is that there has been a vocal crowd pounding the table for Beasley and a vocal response that people thought he was toast. Here we are, he is on the roster. And now people are either saying either "Finally this is the solution!" or "What a nothing burger. The guy is dunzo". I really think the issue is that we have 2 receiving backs that we rarely throw the ball to, along with a high priced TE who lines up in the slot as much as any TE in the league but is never thrown to, an OL that is inconsistent on its best days, and a QB that has a penchant to attempt low percentage throws more often than high percentage throws. Cole Beasley doesn't fix any of that.
  2. Drops are an issue. Don't get me wrong. But people are also conflating catch% with drops. Take the Jets game, Shakir's only target was basically a throw away OOB. That counts as 0% catch rate on the stat page. Also, Miami is tied in drops with 25 and they have Hill, Waddle, and Big Mike at TE. You throw the ball a lot, you get a lot of drops. We seem to be dropping a ton the last month. I don't get it. It didn't feel like a huge issue in the first 8 games of the season.
  3. This is Josh's team. He picked his OC. He asked to pull specific guys out of retirement. We signed your BF to a big TE contract. You pay your QB big money, you let him call his shots. I have no issue. But that also comes with some responsibility. Your contract limits your weapons. When you pick your weapons/play caller, you open yourself up to bear the brunt of your production.
  4. Honest question, what are the PS rules around the playoffs and the salary cap? I know after 3 call ups, a player needs to be signed to the 53 to play again. What if Beasley doesn't play this week and gets the other 3 call ups? Do we have to sign him to the 53? Or can we keep him on the PS, and not count him against the cap? And if that is the case, would the same work for a guy like OBJ and playing with cap dollars?
  5. The Bills were noted for having the best or one of the best screen games in the league. We ran a lot of them with a lot of success.
  6. Erik Turner has posted a bunch of videos of Beasley in TB as if they are some sort or tendencies or proof of anything. He played 13 snaps before he retired. He’s just posting all 13 plays and being like “ooooo defenses are scared”
  7. I had a couple people laughed (or vomited) at me early in this thread for suggesting something similar. Both Brown and Beasley are there in an attempt to get the QB play back on track. Josh is a stud. But he has been a bit off for a number of weeks now. Beasley and Brown are efforts to find his rhythm by recreating past success before we enter the playoffs.
  8. This is not real math. But messing around in the playoff machine, it feels like the only way for NE to end up in the 6 seed is for them to at least go 2-1 against Buffalo, Cincinnati, and Miami.
  9. Beasley feels like a patch on a larger problem which is that our QB isn't seeing the field at the moment. 2 of our first 3 stalled drives were because of actual throw-aways rather than taking Cook and Knox underneath. Beasley doesn't help that. If Josh feels more comfortable throwing to Beasley, that is great in the short term. But at some point he is going to have to start throwing to guys not named Diggs. I get Josh is hyper gifted. It must make decision making really difficult because he can make throws with some regularity that others can't. But if we aren't hitting those throws regularly, they stall drives. That isn't a get out of jail free card for the OL, McKenzie, Davis, or Dorsey.
  10. Wow, I cannot believe this wasn't being discussed in any other thread this morning.....
  11. I have a feeling the Pats are going to mess up seeding for somebody. They play Buffalo, Cincinnati, and Miami down the stretch. Something in my gut says they win one of those games and it either changes the 1 seed or boots Miami from the playoffs.
  12. I think the Bills could lose that and still be the 1 or 2 seed (KC). Bengals still have to play the Ravens again who currently lead the division.
  13. I think the Jets/Dolphins game is likely to be a win and your in game for both teams. The Jets have more momentum at the moment. I wouldn't be so quick to pencil Miami in.
  14. Yeah, I agree with that and was thinking the same thing. We are only dressing 4 WR these days, so it isn't like we don't have room on game day.
  15. I am sorta jealous. He must save so much money shopping at Baby Gap.
  16. I believe it has been confirmed he is in Buffalo. We just have no idea why. Is he even meeting with the team? Maybe he is selling his house? Or he is waiting outside Benny the Butcher's house because he wants to collab, but Benny keeps leaving him on read.... We just don't know.
  17. My uneducated guess is that when Elam gets into games, he freestyles a bit too much to make up for some of his zone deficiencies. The staff can be patient with deficiencies but not with be willing to do your 1/11th assignments. I am totally guessing, but I agree that phrasing was odd. That was the best I could come up with.
  18. Washed out in Tampa pretty quickly when they had a major need at the slot with Godwin on. I have some frustrations with the FO at the moment. They have done a little bit of poor scouting on their current prospects and lack of veteran FA presence. I think Josh has a little bit of the yips since the bye. In addition to only having 4 WR on the roster right now, I think that they are targeting guys like Beasley and Brown with minimal tread is to try and get him back in his rhythm with familiarity. 2 of the more frustrating plays for me yesterday was Josh throwing the ball away with a very open Cook and then Knox on the play. He didn't even look their way and they weren't plays with defenders bearing down on him either.
  19. Catch % is not the same as drops. For example the only throw to Shakir on Sunday was totally uncatchable and OOB. I think Beasley is absolutely washed up. I think we have a bit of a problem with a FO who has struggled to figure out WR depth and a stud QB with the yips which is why we’re trying to sign a bunch of guys who are going washed up but the QB has some positive history with.
  20. I don’t understand why the Bills would do this before giving Shakir any meaningful snaps?
  21. I’m curious if he’s going off script a bit to make up for his deficiencies in zone and the staff doesn’t like it. It’s certainly not a discipline issue, but they might also be saying “you have to be better at what we’re doing, and if you aren’t going to do what we’re doing with playing time, we’ll play somebody who does”
  22. I read it as “he isn’t doing stuff the way we want”. For all the talk on this board that Elam was playing well. His opposing QB passer rating isn’t very good.
  23. Dude there is a giant store at the mall in Albany that is entirely full of knock off gear. It’s insane. An entire section of misprinted names, or numbers.
