Official first half thread - Bungles vs. the Bills

Maybe I'm missing something but how can you effectively play cornerback with a big club for one hand? -
New game time board practice being implemented today
Nathan replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Here's a solution: have someone or a mod create all the threads now, sticky them and lock them. Then, tomorrow unlock the pregame. when the game starts unlock the first half thread, and so on. Its also easier for the mods, all they have to do is unlock the existing thread rather than create a new one. This may be what you were getting st doing already, so if that's the case never mind, lol. -
Why isn't there some kind of pay per view option when the game is blacked out? Both sides get what they want. The team gets revenue and the fan gets to see the game. I suppose that would undermine the threat of the blackout because people would say "well who cares we can just order it on TV". Then maybe the question is, why are fans choosing not to go and how can they fix it? Maybe its the game day experience. Maybe parents with young kids don't feel that it's a good environment. Maybe its the losing. Maybe it's the traffic. This team faces this issue seemingly every year, and just like the performance on the field they can't get it right. If I was ownership or front office blacking out a game would be an embarrassment and it would be a top priority to do everything I could to stop it from happening.

I live 123 miles from the stadium yet the game will be blacked out for me. The distance makes a trio prohibitively costly for me right now altgough I still would like to be able to find a way to go. I am a big fan of the Bills and would love to watch the game but If I cannot see it due to this draconian policy I can find other things to do on a gorgeous October afternoon. Sounds like the Bills will make that same decision for a lot of people this Sunday. Nobody should be guilted into going, whether they live 5 minutes or 500 minutes from the stadium. If the Bills want butts in the seats it is on them to deliver a better product, and this discussion would not be happening.

Players that break out against the bills...
Nathan replied to bizell's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's usually a running back, either an average back or someone you've never even heard of that breaks out against the Bills. You'll hear the words "career high" out of the announcers toward the end of the 3rd quarter. -

This game is not non Fuel. It is on the front office letting this team start the season with 2 rookie qbs. -
Would Rather play Cleveland twice a year

Western New York doesn't really fit in with Massachusetts, New Jersey/NYC and Miami(!), does it? -

Having Cleveland lose in the MLB playoffs last night might help us out here. That shutout loss might take some of the air/excitement out of the building. -
Win #2 - Who gets your game ball?
Nathan replied to SageAgainstTheMachine's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Williams... because on the one play he got beat on, he made a great tackle the saved a touchdown. Ravens go on to kick field goal instead. This one play may have saved us the game. Also that acrobatic interception in then end zone... if he doesn't make a play there, the baltimore receiver was waiting to catch the TD. -
@Browns - Thursday Night Football
Nathan replied to bobobonators's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As for Baltimore yesterday, Thursday night is a classic letdown game for the Browns. Just as everyone had written off their season 2 games in, they responded with a surprising shootout win over Minnesota and a convincing defensive performance against the Bengals. Now, it's time they crash down to Earth. Bills win. -
Official Game Day Thread: Ravens at Bills 9-29-2013

Feels good to be 2-2, we could easily be 0-4 the way these games have gone. Of course, we could easily have been 4-0, too. This week's game against the resurgent Browns suddenly doesn't look like a gimme anymore. -
Defense needs a rest on field for forty minutes Thanks to no huddle

Glimmer of hope; I swear. I never lie either
Nathan replied to Clippers of Nfl's topic in Off the Wall Archives
It's more difficult to get to the postseason in baseball... less teams enter (8 in baseball, 12 in football), the season is obviously longer so it's much harder to "luck" your way in, and baseball doesn't have a salary cap - it's what keeps smaller markets like KC on the bottom. There is more parity in football than in baseball and more playoff spots, so not making the the playoffs in 13 years like the Bills have is arguably much more dubious a distinction if you ask me. -
I don't mind the current format except the some of the teams don't make sense in their respective divisions such as the Cowboys in the NFC East, or even the dolphins in the AFC East (I know they're on the East coast, but they don't fit in a division with 3 other northeast teams).

ESPN...Teams targeting tired Bills D
Nathan replied to Kemp2Warlick's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The sooner they scrap this disaster of a no-huddle the better. Why you would try to implement this with a rookie quarterback is lost on me. Our record could easily be 0-3 and time of possession is the reason why. Not to mention our defense is being decimated by injury. Gimmicks don't usually work in the NFL, at least over the long haul, and this is nothing more than that. -
The talking heads have spoken for week 4
Nathan replied to CodeMonkey's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is a classic letdown game for Baltimore. They rebounded nicely after week 1 by scratching out a win against Cleveland and then winning big over the Texans. Now it's time for the letdown. Buffalo isn't a great team by any means but I don't think we play that poorly a second week in a row. Not guaranteeing a Buffalo win but I think we play them close. -
Apparently they do live in NY state. UGH. Read this if you want to terrify yourself: http://forums.gardenweb.com/forums/load/upstateny/msg0710503732162.html

I just did that a couple weeks ago. Saw a patch of dirt with red ants on it, boiled up some water and dumped it right over 'em. It's efficient and eco-friendly (not spraying chemicals/pesticides). I have a friend who has a phobia of ants. He claims we all underestimate them and if they ever got organized with their sheer numbers they could challenge humanity. I always say, "dude... I could just stomp on them." That would scare me, especially as we have a baby.

The No-Huddle Trend and Injuries
Nathan replied to Prickly Pete's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
http://www.inreview.com/archive/topic/14556.html "Football players were struck in the head 30 to 50 times per game and regularly endured blows similar to those experienced in car crashes, according to a Virginia Tech study that fitted players' helmets with the same kinds of sensors that trigger auto air bags." Up-tempo offense/more plays? Maybe that 30-50 number jumps up to 40-60, or 50-70 times a game. -
I'll take the temperate climate we have here. Also, aren't we all forgetting that the further down South you go, the more nasty the insects/spiders/snakes/etc. get? I sleep better at night knowing I don't have to worry about a brown recluse spider or something horrible like that. Up here we don't have to worry about the killer bees, either.

I think we will see some shots down the field, moreso than last week. But I'd also like to see more screens and outside runs. Don't recall Spiller getting any pitches to allow him to run in space or anything like that much last week.

"STEVIE! I had you starting on my fantasy team this week!"
-
Every week is important. We have 16 chances to win a game. We've had one chance so far and basically gave it away. We have 15 chances left. With so few chances, you have to win when the opportunity presents itself. This week was a classic example of not doing that. Coming up we have a winnable game at home against Carolina. When you face teams like Baltimore, Atlanta, Pittsburgh, etc. you have to win these kind of games. Gotta take this one.
