No, it's not revisionist history to suggest that had Anthony Lynn been retained the Bills would have been drafting a QB in round 1.
It was a bit of a surprise that McD even retained Tyrod considering that the organization had benched him to end the 2016 season.
And it was very surprising that a first year HC passed on the chance to draft a talented QB in round 1 when there was talent on the board. The excuse the Bills used........about needing more time to assess college QB's.........is one I've never heard a new regime make. It was a very unorthodox approach and they've paid for it in the short term at least.......the two guys they passed on have ousted them from the playoffs the past two seasons. And if Watson ends up in Miami.........
I've been a fan of every player that the Bills have selected in round 1 since McDermott got here. That's a much higher approval rating from me than Polian or Butler even so I'm not a hater of their personnel work. But they were very lucky to get a chance at Josh Allen after passing on Mahomes and Watson. The amount of chances McD had at a superstar QB in round one of the draft in his first two seasons is unbelievable. I'm thankful they got Josh, he was the right pick there, but it hasn't worked out perfectly yet either.
Yeah you right. We would be so much better with Watson the POS.

I would argue that McD would not be shown in a great light we’re it not for Allen emerging. Funny how a top 5 QB can make people look like a genius. He came in and did what was expected, got the D on track and they won enough to back into the playoffs, the next year wasn’t so pretty, then JA came on and here we are. If Allen had turned out to be the wrong Josh, I don’t think you are singing his praises right now. His overly conservative approach has been taken away by having Josh basically blow it up. The D has not been great for the majority of the time he’s been here, but has definitely flashed at times. Overall, the success of a team these days is tied to scoring points, which is pretty much tied to QB play. A bad coach can make it harder than it has to be, he is not a bad coach. A good coach can look really good with a QB and I think that’s where you find him. Good luck to the other new coaches, their future is tied to the QB they have to work with.
Part of the genius was picking Allen and developing him. You make it sound like he fell into their laps by mistake. McD's approach brings so much to the table. As a Bills fan who follows this team its weird you dont see any of this. What an awful take.

SI Ranking might please people actually.
7. Buffalo Bills (3–1)
Last week: Win vs. Houston, 40-0
Next week: at Kansas CityNext week’s Sunday Night Football meeting between the Bills and Chiefs will be an instructive measuring stick for both sides. The Bills have already opened up a two-game lead in the AFC East, but they’ve had a soft early schedule.

Not sure if Mahomes will even survive this Sunday.

The main takeaway is they’ve destroyed some really bad to mediocre teams with back up QBs…. If they beat the Chiefs and Titans they absolutely deserve to be considered the best team in the league.
So you are saying they don’t deserve to be considered the top team at this point in the season until they beat a couple 2-2 teams? Or are you suggesting they can’t be considered better than the chiefs because of losing to them last year? -

I disagree - KC is still incredibly dangerous and has one of the best offenses in the league until proven otherwise. Their defense is what's holding them back - too many old players like Frank Clark IMO.
they are dangerous offensively. Not as dangerous as the Bills. Their defense is a mess. If the chiefs are the better team until the bills beat them then the Steelers need to be ahead of the bills on the power rankings. Logic is logic.-

Lol. Kc is not the better team at this point. But in he NFL we know you can lose to an inferior team at any point. I can see he bills win these two games and then lose to someone like Miami. Many brains will implode. People will say we were frauds. Gonna be a very entertaining season. Fan base is not in the same ball park of confidence and self belief as the team is which is understandable.

I think the main takeaway is the fan base is not comfortable being #1 yet. Too much PTSD and self doubt.

This is just my sense talking to fans here and there outside of this board, but I think it's not just a "handful of people on the board" who care about it. I suppose the crowd ya run with has an influence on perception.
I think a better way of putting it would be: even for those who care about it and think it is unfortunate and wish he would change his views, most of us still recognize he's a helluva football player, love what he brings on the field, and want him on the team because of that. If I were at a tailgate in person, it would certainly not be on my mind or something I'd talk about.
But when Beasley is at it again like he is right now, tweeting up a storm of misinformation about why (or why not) to get vaccinated, he does make it a little harder for me to remember what a great player he is. It's not like it's a deal to me what Beasley personally does. Like he says, he's getting tested every day. But others are not, and don't want to take other steps either like masking, and this is making life crappier in a lot of places for a lot of folks. Some people who don't have Covid are literally dieing right now because the ICU bed and the cardiologist they need are not available to them due to beds full of Covid cases, and how I feel about that isn't printable on this newsgroup.
Someone asked me today at the clinic how do I know hospitals aren't lying about the ICU capacity. Yes it has gotten this stupid.

Are we talking about the Titans who just lost to the woeful Jets?
My thoughts exactly. When did this game become a season defining game. I dont even see the KC game that way until it unfolds. It is possible to lose that game and still win the division. Looking at any season game as defining the year is not realistic. The important thing about the KC game is home field.

I did not realize he was on twitter bitching about some fans talking ***** to him. I mean he seems quite sensitive. Sensitive people should not air all their opinions on social media and then wonder how a small percentage of people dont like what you say.
