  1. good opportunity for a parent to instill some moderation into their kids by just saying "NO" and not buying every Star Wars item you happen upon in the store.
  2. oh- they'll be thrilled when they send him a bill for the $9 mil siging bonus that he just forfeited by breaching his contract.
  3. nice try- Teflon Tom extended Drew's contract with the full intention of him staying on the team for at least 2 years- with a very real chance of being the backup to JP who had been identified as his successor. To say that Drew was not let go because of his performance is ludicrous. Drew played himself off the roster in spite of tremendous financial reasons to keep him. Teflon Tom invested almost $9 mil in Drew in 2004 and incurred almost $5 mil in dead cap hit by cutting Drew loose. People whine about not trading Travis Henry, but don't find it odd that TD did not hang on to Drew to maximize his trade value. The fact is the front office determined that the Bills were better off with Drew off the roster for no compensation than to keep him around to mess with the team's chemistry.
  4. Drew's lack of mobility was not the problem. The bigger problem was Drew's horrible decision making. Although you are right that most defenses don't risk blitzing on 1st down, this did not stop teams opposing the Bills from selling out with the blitz on all downs because the reward far exceeded the risk of being burned by the big play.
  5. The QBs may actually be worse than Drew from a name recognition standpoint, but it's production that counts. Even with mistakes from in-experience, JP will produce no worse than Drew - even though the coaches were forced to dumb down the offense for Drew.
  6. better yet, why not ask Mike Mularkey and Teflon Tom about what prompted them to cut loose this Hall of Fame Qb after paying him almost $9 mil in 2004?
  7. Until teams start blanketing Drew's favaorite WR. In NE, it was Ben Coates. In Buffalo, it was Moulds. Drew can only lock onto 1 WR. If he is taken away, Drew is incapable of going thru his progression to the next WR. (pat, pat ,pat). Philly and Washington will have a field day agaisnt Drew.
  8. you beat the blitz by hitting a big play. The QB must quickly identify the blitz and then quickly get rid of the ball to a player in position to make a big play. (Parrish running a slant from the slot) Drew was incapable of doing anything quickly, so he failed miserably at both identifying the blitz and deciding where to go with the ball. Consequently, defenses had no fear of blitzing to stop both the run and the pass because Drew presented absolutely no risk of burning them with a big play. Even though a rookie, Losman can not produce any worse than Drew.
  9. because starting caliber LT cost a boat load of money and TEs are dime a dozen, especially since we just drafted our new stud TE.
  10. he will contriobute immediately as a PR. If he gets 8 touches for 100 yards a game, with the threat to break the big play, he will earn his keep. He will also get the ocassional look at running slant patterns out of the slot. If he breaks a few of those, Losman won't have to contend with all out blitzes.
  11. that would be a sulking Travis Henry - who would stop sulking pretty quick if Willis got hurt and would offer much more production than a 5th round pick. Not sure why people want mid-round picks when Teflon Tom has historically failed to turn those picks into on field talent.
  12. Brown will be a bust. He may have speed, but he has no wiggle and can't make tacklers miss. This will be compounded by the putrid Miami OL.
  13. clearly Parrish will contribute immediately as a punt returner. If a WR averages 8 touches for about 100 yards per game, he probably goes to the Pro Bowl. You can expect that from Parrish as a punt returner if the D does its job. He also brings the threat of busting a big play at any time. Parrish is the real deal as a punt returner. go find video from the UM / Virginia Tech game of last year.
  14. cards cut Anthony Clement- who actually plays LT
  15. JP would perform no worse than Drew if he were asked to run the dumbed down offense that Drew ran last year. The only reason the Hall of Fame Drew "looked" better in 2004 was that the coaches had to protect him from himself. Although only in his 2nd year, JP will be running a much more varied and sophisitiated offense than Drew and will probably make more mistakes along the way. But he will also generate more big plays and score more points.
  16. You answered your own question. Bledsoe was incapable of finding secondary receivers, be they TEs, RB, or WRs.
  17. always laugh when Mel says a player "came off the board too early". It's like fantasy football, if you have a commitment to a guy which may be different than the consensus, you don't take the risk of missing him by waiting for the absolute proper time. In the NFL, waitng 31 picks is a LONG time. NE taking a no-name OL in the 1st round is a case in point. Having Mel Kiper ragging on the Patriots is classic because we all know they are really bad talent evaluators
  18. Roscoe will contribute immediately, which is more than you can say about a lot of 2nd round picks. On any return, he has the ability to break a big play. But just assume that our defense plays as advertised and forces 8 punts a game and he averages 10 yards a return. 8 touches for 80 yards is pretty good production, not to mention that he will get a few touches as a slot running slant patterns with the threat of creating big plays every time he touches the ball. The enforcement of the rules bout contact with WR will also help him to produce early in his career.
  19. the team will score more in 2005 because our QB won't melt down in the redzone. Lindell will be fine
  20. If TD wants Shelton so bad, he can wait a few months and sign him as a free agent for less than $3 mil per year when Denny cuts him loose.
  21. Where's Akili Smith?
  22. why is it that the only meaningful coverage of the Bills if from Rochester?
  23. don't be surprised if the Eagles trade down in exchage for picks next year, including a #1.
  24. Busts:Ronnie Brown, Aaron Rogers, Alex Barron, Barnes
  25. you are corect. the best way to disrupt a quick release passing game is to push the pocket up the middle to disrupt the timing. This in turn prevents the OL from doubling the DE's who become much more effective pass rushers should have picked Vince Wilfork last year
