If J.Wiliams is available 8 does he replace NC?
obie_wan replied to CJPearl2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nate blows. Can't see how posters claim he is a man cover guy when he can't stay with any WR. put the tag on him and see what compenation you can get for him -
My head hurts from scratching today

you also need a QB who will throw the ball more than 2 yards downfield when you need 7. What a waste not giving Losman some playing time -
Acquiring Bledsoe was OK. Teflon's problem was extending Drew with an $8 mil cash bonus after he proved he wasn't teh long term answer at QB. No- it's not diificult to say Teflon should have known not to invest $40 million in an overweight, motivationally challenged player pushing 400 pounds who has never played the critical LT - even though he moved well for his size (but not well enough to pass block in the NFL).

If TD is still here, then another criminal from the U with a blown out knee is a lock.

at a minimum, the Bills would not have blown THREE draft picks on their bench sitting QB of the future. maybe some OL help or a stud pass rusher could have been acquired -
Pulling JP in Week 2 destroyed the Bills
obie_wan replied to Outkast's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
if the plan for 20-04 was for Drew to mentor JP, why did they extend hima nd give him almost $9 mil - which translated in huge dead money when he was cut -
gotta like that Troy Edwards pick in 1st round- another midget punt returner who couldn't cut it as a WR

Nate would have be get within 5 yards of CJ to do it, so any success is unlikely. -
Roscoe Parrish was the dumbest draft pick
obie_wan replied to Stl Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
it is for me. Teflon was too busy patting himself on the back for selecting Joey H when he realized that Millen pulled the rug from under his entire draft. TD should have spent the time to figure out a way out of that #4 spot, even if it meant taking less than "fair" value in trade. PS: TD should not have any input on any future QB acquisitions. He has no clue how to evaluate a QB. -
Excellent article on HC candidates for Bills.

dr. z on mularkey's clock management
obie_wan replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If he had a coordinator who was calling the plays, MM could handle time management. However, MM is such anegomaniac that he calls the plays without any reference materials or play cards. No wonder the playcalling is so disjointed. -

Other than Fassel, the common thread is that there is ZERO experience as the head guy at some major program. It's great to be a good teacher, but those skills don;t always translate to the head coaching level. Better off with a guy with NFl experience but who has run a successful program at the major college level, like Nick Saban did. If they change, it should be Kirk Ferentz- if Jeff Fischer doesn;t leave. -

should have taken Vince Wilfork -
If TEflon did a better job of evaluating talent, he could take the best graded player and not worry about his image. TD is more worried about making the cute pick and finding lightning in the bottle by taking players that have been downgraded due to injury or other circumstances.

Big Mike has been feeding the media and fans a bunch of Mullarkey about his desire to run a power offense. He has continually proven he would rather run a finesse system which bails on the run as soon as his scripted plays run out. Teflon Tom and MM both were thrown out of Pittsburgh because of their refusal to build and operate a smash mouth football team. You get a lot of lip service to smash mouth ideals that Bills fans embrace, but drafting midget receivers and using trick plays and ignoring the run are teh actions that speak louder than words. Ed Kilgore must not have watched too many games over the Mullarkey era to draw those conclusions. But at least "Mularkey wants his team to be mentally tougher, one of the reasons Donahoe decided Gregg Williams had to go." Too bad, as HC, he had no input into making it happen

Teflon will probably become infatuated with some player that he knows will be available to the Bills (ala Joey harrington) and he will unplug his phone and not cultivate any trade partners prior to the draft. After his favoriate player is plucked right before the Bills pick, he will panick and draft the fattest, slowest, softest, dumbest player that has been overhyped because he moves well for his size. Teflon is a master as evaluating talent and football temperament. That's why the BIlls are such a mentally tough team.

actually, they have also beaten the Broncos and Panthers, as well as 2 big wins on the West coast in SanDiego and Oakland. They had the PAts beat as well but imploded. They average over 5 years a carry with an OL which has worse talent than the Bills do. The Dolpjins are light years ahead of the Bills at this point and teh Bills are going in the wrong direction.

Haslett seeking 5 year contract extension.
obie_wan replied to PIZ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's more of a disaster when your personnel guy insists on drafting and signing weak and soft players when the coach says he wants to play smashmouth. how about another injury prone, midget WR who doesn;t like snow? -
Moorman didn't help matters any by pounding the ball into the endzone for a touchback. so much for the surprise element and freeing up your coverage guys to down the ball inside the 5.

Based on McNally's input over the last 2 years, what makes you think he has any clue in who we need. If TD and MM hold him in such high regard, I'm sure he had input on all the line acquisitions over the last 2 years, including Bennie Anderson (good evaluation on that one!!). With such poor performance by our starters, how is it that no other OL on the roster can challenge for a spot?
-
They are no longer in Pittsburgh because they knew better and refused to accept this basic premise. TD and MM both favor the glitz and glammor over the blue line trench warfare for which the Steelers are noted. Roscoe Parrish playing QB sums it up for how MM talks power football but relishes finesse and trickery. The 2 must go and must be replaced by a GM and coach with a blue collar attitude who understands the lines are key. Kirk Ferentz should be the coach and the GM should be an asst from a team which has produced a blue colar team- say Chicago,

Why does the great Jim McNally get a free pass in this discussion? Most teams in the league have lost key players to their line and replacements have been plugged in. It seems no OL on our team can execute the McNally plan. Why are there always gaping holes in the middle of the line for blitzers to exploit. I think Teflon did a great job of overhyping the quality of the coaching staff and you are now seeing the less than stellar results

Jets will beat the Bills as they run for the bus, thus blowing their shot at Leinart
-
even more important is the poor play design which takes your best players and uses them as decoys instead of as playmakers.

O-Line Not as Important as Skill Positions
obie_wan replied to BenchBledsoe's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
which highlights the importance of coaching. our coaches can't identify schemes which fit the personnel. not to mention our OL are soft and stupid. Many teams suffer key injuries but somehow survive. The Bills couldn't get it together from day 1.
