  1. He didn't convince Polian to take Conlan. Polian had to convince Marv that Conlan would still be there after they traded down with Cleveland. Marv has an aversion to trading on draft day.
  2. but he has name recognition, so he must be good:devil:
  3. Atlanta gets a Pro Bowl quality DE for a 1st rounder. Makes it all the more painful that the Bills spent a 1st, 2nd and 5th on a shaky QB project. Talk about wasting picks.
  4. He makes more than our 3 Qbs combined. Hopefully, the Bills actually spend what they are saving by going cheap on QB on the OL.
  5. The hit may not be the same. If cut, the Bills can elect to spread the dead money over 2 years, even if cut before June 1. However, if he is traded before June 1- I don't think the election applies and the entire dead money may hit the cap in 2006. This could be relevant since the Bills will need to move him before the draft to get 2006 draft picks.
  6. yes you are correct. The Union wanted to avoid the Walter Jones scenario where a team kept using the tag. The Owners got taken to the cleaners by the Union. Still not sure why the Owners did not trade a rookie wage scale for teh increase in shared revenues. The Union also further restricdted teh Onwers ability to discipline players by prohibiting the TO type suspension and even prohibiting the clause Cinci was using to prevent team bashing and generally bad behavior. It seems the Owner reps did not challenge much of what the Union wanted. Tags threw the owners under the bus to get to retirement without a player lockout. Ralph looks brilliant in refusing to sign without having read the fine print/
  7. 2007 is the last year of his contract. If he is cut in 2007, whatever is left of unamortized bonus money would hit the cap in 2007.
  8. there's a reason those practices are "voluntary" Moulds is like Drew, too good to work out in Buffalo with the rest of the team in the off-season.
  9. hopefully, the Bills will accumulate 3 QBs who have similar styles and all fit within the framework of teh offense that FAirchild will run. Never could understand why Teflon got the dink and dunk Holcomb to match with JP. The 2 QBs ran totally different offenses which created a mess whenever one needed to sub.
  10. maybe Fairchild should just bring in Kevin Curtis.
  11. has he blown his knee out yet? that would be the clincher
  12. Marv is just practicing his negotiating tactics. Since you're convinced these guys will be retained by their current teams, Marv is trying out some new techniques under the new CBA while incurrig little downside. As you can see, his plan helped to land that big free agent QB.
  13. Does Nall's style fit better with teh downfield game of JP or the dink and dunk of Holcomb - and do any of them fit the offense that Fairchild wants to run? It doesn;t make much sense why they bring in QBs who need specially designed offenses to succeed. All the QBs on the roster should fit the offense that the OC wants to run. Based on last year, it sure seemed that HOlcomb and JP could not co-exist in the same system.
  14. smart teams like the Patriots trade picks from a poor draft for higher picks in the next one. Teflon was too enamoured with Joey H to actually have a paln for the 2002 draft.
  15. no matter how good he turns out, it was stupid to give that package for a mentally soft QB who was clearly not ready to play in teh NFL.
  16. in addition, teams can cut a player now, and elect to use the June 1st rule in advance.
  17. Moulds has $7 mil of dead money that needs to hit the cap. The Bills can elect to take half of it in 2006 if he is cut in 2006 or traded after June 1. If he plays in 2006, he counts another $7 mil against the cap. Makes sense for the Bills to cut him and push part of teh dead money to 2007 when the already scheduled cap increase will cover it. Saved money will cover the increase on the franchise cap for Nate.
  18. Bills won't need any cap money to sign rookies until after June 1. Makes absolutely no sense to cut him before then when they can spread his dead money to next year, when it will be fully absorbed by the cap increase. They can continue to offer him as trade bait after teams firm up thier rosters after the draft.
  19. Obviously, you didn't pay attention to Ralph. The Bills have less cash than big market clubs and that fact will be reflected in the lack of big money free agent signings of older, injury prone players. The Bills can not afford to waste cash on risky players, no matter their name recognition.
  20. still injury prone
  21. he's available, but TB may want to re-sign him. Definitely an upgrade
  22. it's not his age- it's his health which is not good. He may play hurt, but he is ineffective. Due to his injuries he can't move well enough to play LT anymore. This would be another panic "name" signing which actually makes the OL worse.
  23. Signing Fabini would placate the fans clamoring to fix the OL. However, realistically may actually be a step backwards since Fabini can't stay on the field due to serious injuries. Any contract should refelct expectations that he will only play at most 2 years and may not be healthy enough to keep for 2006. Bills still need to build OL thru the draft, with any vets only stop gap solutions.
  24. Marv and Jouron will never draft Vince Young. His unconventional style will never fit with the conservative philosophy. Bills should add a vet with a style similar to JPs and let him compete. Pretty stupid to need 2 different offensive mindsets for Holcomb and Losman.
  25. Fabini is olda nd broken and more likely to spend time on the bench than on the field.
