unless of course Marv takes Cutler, then the only one needing speed will be Marv to escape the lynch mob at OBD.

JP Losman haters will agree with GBN

you hope like hell that the Rams want to trade. Linehan may make the move to put his mark on his new team, if he thinks Bulger is too injury prone to last long term, -
the overriding attribute of this year's Bills draft class will be SPEED, with a definite defensive flavor.

can you say performance enhancing drugs?

NO way do the Jets take Leinart. His balls will flutter all over the Meadowlands. Arm strength or not, he does not throw a tight spiral. Jets take Brick.

The Bills Could Actually Trade Down
obie_wan replied to RochBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
yeah - laugh at the Bills and take defense -
Jimmy Johnson was on the Hank goldberg show this week talking about his draft philosphy. He was a firm believer in moving up and down in the draft to match his needs with the value of a player on the board. (He wouldn;t reach for a need, but would move up to grab a player like Emmit Smith if the value was there). However, he had a very tough time finding trade partners because teams had no objective way to quickly determine if the proposed trade was fair. Thus, Jimmy develped the draft pick value chart and distributed it to the other teams. Since it was an objective tool, all teams starting using it as a baseline for trading draft picks. Teams can vary from the formula based on their assessment of talent, demand for the pick in question and other factors.

Manning can move in the pocket enough to avoid traffic, just like Marino.

Is it safe to say that the Bills will use all
obie_wan replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
NO Bills should take the best differnce maker at each slot in the draft. To pass on playmakers for a lesser player at a position of perceived need results in a team of inferior players. If a top CB or LB is available, they should be strongly considered. Speed will be a strong factor for all players drafted. -
Would anyone be very disappointed ifthe pick at #8

that's why HUff is the pick -

not a chance McNeil has too many injury issues. Good spot to catch a falling star. Some player will slide that shouldn't. Or maybe a fast riser like Mangold or McCargo or one of the LBs could be the target. -

That would be preferable to taking Williams and putting one of their former first round DEs on the bench with his big contract. How is that a better situation than your argument? Even if Brown was the 13th pick, he wasn't top 5- so his salary is not huge. Camp has not started, so any talk of moving Brown to LT amounts to just talk. Since Benson wants to move to LA, a flashy offense is more important than a stout D- so teh LT makes more sense. -
it's time to predict the bills first round choice
obie_wan replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
would live to see a trade down with the Rams whre Justice and Bunkley make more sense. But more likely they are stuck at #8. All the Bills picks will be based on speed and quickness. Any OL in the 2nd or 3rd round will not be a road grader- but will be nimble on his feet. Ngata is not quick enough. Justice will need a year to transition to LT if he can make the move at all. Character issues with Bunkley. good thing Cutler doesn;t have blazing speed. Huff will be the pick at #8 if none of the big names fall. He will play immediately and is a playmaker. -
Would anyone be very disappointed ifthe pick at #8
obie_wan replied to zevo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The risk with Ngata is that his lack of dedication will result in uncontrolled weight gain and loss of his quickness and stamina. Big fat guys don;t necessarily become good football players. Once overpaid, they could become big fat lazy guys. -

Jets will not draft Leinart, especially if NO takes Brick as expected and leaves Mario for Jets. Unlikley that Raiders will trade up for Leinart. They would more likely target Young or Mario in a trade. -
to clarify - this is a draft I saw on another message board. I would agree that Jouron would have a hard time passing on Hawk, but I don't think he gets by the Raiders.
-
check this mock- Bills could further complicate things by trading down to #11 with Rams and screwing the Jets out of Cutler. Bills would have 2 of Hawk, Bunkley, Ngata and Huff to pick from at #11. Chances are the Raiders would take Hawk over Justice since their preference seems to be defense. thoughts? Pre-draft trade: To Denver # 9 / To Detroit #15 and #61 1. Houston Texans – Reggie Bush, RB The Texans front office doesn’t find a dance partner and they grab the dynamic Bush. I don’t like it much and feel they would be better off building the team through their interior lines. I originally had the Jets moving up here but the chances of that are looking pretty slim now. 2. New Orleans Saints – Matt Leinart, QB I’m not buying this three team trade rumor where two are teams get “bought off” for not drafting certain players. This type of thing just doesn’t happen. Oakland may move up ahead of the Titans for Leinart, but I think the Raiders will take their chances and stand pat. Condon keeps his promise and Leinart goes #2. Brees is pissed off but his contract affords the Saints the luxury of drafting Leinart and gives Benson the ammo to move the team to LA. 3. Tennessee Titans – Vince Young, QB The Titans add their QB of the (near?) future. Volek is more than capable of holding down the fort for two years until Young is ready to produce. Adams and the scouting department win out over Fisher and Chow and Leinart starts to slide. 4. Denver Broncos – Vernon Davis, TE To Denver - #4 / To New York - #9 (from DET) and #37 The Broncos are desperate to get Davis and have moved their way up and down the draft board to get their man. It is obviously very early for a TE, but if this happens they won’t be giving up more than Cleveland did for Winslow. I’ve debated whether the trade will happen with the Jets or Green Bay, but this trade works out well for both teams. The Jets get into prime position for their man and pick up an extra 2nd round pick to boot. 5. Green Bay Packers – Mario Williams, DE The Packers get a gift as Williams, arguably the best player in the draft, falls into their laps. Trading down was probably being considered but those thoughts ended when Williams was still available. 6. Philadelphia Eagles – D’Brickashaw Ferguson, OT To Philadelphia - #6 / To San Francisco - #14, #45 and 2007 3rd round pick San Fran gets burned by the Broncos, if they were truly interested in Davis. No rumors to substantiate this, but if Ferguson drops the Eagles are primed to jump ahead of a pack of hungry teams looking for a 10-year stud at tackle. 7. Oakland Raiders – Winston Justice, OT This Raiders pick still has me stumped. Rumors of them drooling over Young and Leinart have me doubting a lot of what I’ve written above, but Al Davis likes to go in his own direction. Gallery moving to LT opens up a spot for Winston on the right side. 8. Buffalo Bills – Brodrick Bunkley, DT Buffalo needs help with their porous rush defense and could use a solid anchor up the middle, it is really just a question of which DT they take. The buzz has them more interested in Bunkley than Ngata and he fits their scheme much better. I also wouldn’t rule out an offer from the Vikings to move up on the Jets. 9. New York Jets – Jay Cutler, QB To New York - #9 (from DET) and #37 / To Denver - #4 Detroit trades out from #9, as they feel they can still receive value at #15 and get an additional late 2nd round pick. The Jets are enamored with Cutler and position themselves perfectly to get him and in the process add another early 2nd round pick. 10. Arizona Cardinals – A.J. Hawk, OLB Dennis Green has says that he is happy with his RBs then he goes out and signs James. He signed Warner to a contract, so could he make a push to move up and take Young or Cutler? It’s possible but not too likely. Not the hugest need, but the Cardinals could do a lot worse and continue to improve a solid young defense. 11. Saint Louis Rams – Michael Huff, CB/S The signing of Will Witherspoon may end up having the biggest impact of any this off-season and allows the Rams to fill other needs through the draft. Huff is the logical choice since he is arguably BPA and fills a huge need. 12. Cleveland Browns – Haloti Ngata, DT The Browns have filled most of their major areas of need through free agency. Ngata will be a nice complement to Washington and Crennel is on record saying he is a Brown if he is still available when the Browns are on the clock.

First 8 picks could be set.....
obie_wan replied to BuffBills#1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jets will not take a QB at #4. If they can trade down, they will take Cutler. Leinart is too soft does not have the arm to throw in the NJ winds. All the Leinart talk is smokescreen to generate a trade someone moves up to #2 to take Leinart letting Mario Williams fall to them. -
Looks like the Bills will trade down.

agree that a LB will be a surprise day 1 selection- even though it will totally disrupt Pyrite's concept of "team building" -
Harv. You are on the clock

Leinart is too soft to make it big in NFL. eric Winston will play at RT if he can't cut it at LT. -

absolute insanity giving up 4 picks for 1 player. even worse than the Losman travesty. -

Young will go to Titans. RAiders will then draft defense- pretty boy doesn't fit their mentality -
Cutler will be the better QB, especially in Buffalo Leinart is soft.

Jets looking to trade up from 2nd first rounder.
obie_wan replied to PIZ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Leinart does not have the arm to throw in any undomed stadium in the NE in the winter. Jets have no interest other than trade value in Leinart.
